This collection has been on my must get list for a while after seeing it on Netflix a few years ago. I waited till a sale to purchase but after buying, I would have happily paid full price. Great story, characters and scenery. The box set is will fantastic and the case looks great.

Loved this series on HBO, great blue ray quality. Must see if you like action and pretty good account of time.

Very strange occurance with this set. The first DVD would not play on one of my DVD blu ray players. It worked on the other machine. All of the other DVDs worked fine. I took it back to the store and they said it worked fine. I took it back home and the one still would not play on the one machine.

Loved this show. Too bad it was cut short. Great story line; it came out 5 years before its time.

This is a very exciting factual series. Keeps your attention. Would recommend!

Rome was a co-production of HBO and the BBC. It cost $100 million and looks it. In some ways it is a pre-sequel to "I Claudis" that was made in the 70's by the BBC. It tells the story of the beginning Caesars and their rise to power. If you are offended easily don't watch it as it has a lot of adult content, nudity, and graphic violence. The picture quality is outstanding and a great way to show off your HD TV. Be on the look out for bargins as I got my copy for $62.00 at Best Buy during Christmas time.

I didn't have access to HBO when this first aired. Those I knew out of state that did, knowing that I liked history, said I would love it. I never got around to it until I saw the complete series on sale at Best Buy. I'm glad I got it. It's a fantastic story with great acting and blockbuster film quality of Art Design and Costumes. The writer takes liberties with the main characters of Lucius Verenus and Titus Pullo who are real, but not much is known about, and weaves their lives and deeds into a completely true historical Roman backdrop. I love that you get the perspective of all these historic events from the very highest echelons of society down to the slaves at the lowest. Sure I would have loved to see some more screen time invested into battle sequences, but ultimately the battles are a means to an end and not the focus of the story. Otherwise the show was fairly flawless. I would definitely recommend it!

I saw this HBO series on the TV some years ago and it was even better on this HD transfer. The photography and sound are excellent. The acting and character development are superb.

The storyline and actors are all excellent. A fine collaboration by HBO & BBC.
