Great item. Pretty easy to use and records well. Pretty easy setup and the program has an auto detect so you don't have to sit for hours until the tape stops. It will stop recording if the tape ends of if the tape is blank for longer than 20 seconds.

Once I got it working, the product worked fine. However There were installation issues with both Windows 7 and Windows 10 PCs. In both cases the software did not detect the data from the VCR. I worked with Support, who were responsive and easy to work with on both issues. They had me delete and reinstall drivers, the product itself, and had me send them a ton of info about both PCs. Finally, after several days and attempted fixes, they connected remotely to the Windows 7 PC, removed registry entries, downloaded and installed new software and had me test it while they observed. Success! I worked with a different person for the Windows 10 PC. They took me through the same process with no success, but we were not able to coordinate a remote connection. Since I had the other PC working I decided to not spend any more of my or their time on it and closed the ticket.

It took a little fiddling to figure it out and get it working but now that I’ve figured it out it’s perfect. I use it to digitize VHS tapes and upload the commercials to YouTube.

PRETTY EASY TO LOAD. FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS AND WAS USING WITHIN 30 MINUTES. DECENT HELP FEATURES. NO OPTION TO SAVE FILES IN AVI FORMAT SO WAS DISAPPOINTED. MPEG-2, MPEG-4 OR H-264 TO BURN TO DVD WERE THE ONLY FILE TRANSFER OPTIONS AVAIABLE. OTHERWISE A USABLE PROGRAM TO DIGITIZE VHS TAPES.

I give the product itself 5 stars. The instructions are poorly written and only moderately helpful. After experimenting, I figured out how to use the product and the two separate software programs included with it. Other than better instructions, it would be nice if the wires were more durable (thicker).

I read reviews before purchasing this. After the purchase, I don't understand all the negative reviews. My best guess is that the negative reviews did not follow the instructions. First, plug in the device into your computer before downloading the software, so the computer download the drivers on its own. Second, download the software, either from the CD or from the website. Third, open up the software to let it find any updates, and let it install the updates. Now plug your VCR into your computer with your device to transfer. If you follow those instructions exactly, it work. My next best guess for the complaints is that people expected this device to turn their old home videos intro crystal clear, pixel perfect 1080p videos. That simply isn't going to happen. Your 80s, 90s or even early 2000s videotape recorder did not have those capabilities, so it would not have recorded that in the first place. Furthermore, if the videotapes have corroded over time, or even the VCR for that matter, that will affect the transfer, not the device itself. If a VHS to DVD upscaler does exist, you'll be paying way much more. My only real complaint is that the editing software is mediocre at best, but you can always purchase a better video software on your own. This sure beats paying somebody to convert your VHS for you.

Had an old version that won't run under Windows 10. Used the current version to convert a 40 year old privately recorded cassette tape to CD and mp3 formats. To a little time to figure it out, but it worked just fine. Friends who asked me to do it for them are very happy with the results.

Easy to use. Easy to hook up. I was able to convert all my home movies (VHS) to dvd. I wish they had explained in a little more depth about how to use it. i let an entire hour go by before i realized i needed to click on a record button...lol

Program generally works, but seems to have quirks that confuddle me. Clearer directions would really help me. I have only used the program to digitize 8mm video. Editing and combining clips is in the future.

This one works well, but you need a VCR next to your computer to be able to digitize your personal movie. I bouught this to digitize my old VCR cassettes.

I really liked this product. I wanted a way to transfer VHS videos to a digital version. I liked that the software allowed you to choose how you wanted to convert. I chose digital but you could also convert to DVD. It was very easy to use and I was impressed.

Very easy to use with great results. I have been backing up VHS and 8mm videos to digital files preserving family history for my kids and grandkids to enjoy. Roxio has an excellent product here. I am very happy with this product.

This may be a wonderful product; however, I had trouble loading it onto a Windows 11 laptop. Difficulty with missing drivers on my laptop. I've heard good things about the product, but cannot verify yet.

Bought this to save my vhs tapes before they deteriated. Easy to setup and copy files to my hard drive. Still have a problem spanning multiple discs when movie is to long. I'll have to contact Roxio on this again. Biggest plus was saving my videos.

The instructions suck that come with the converter sucked and I had to go online to find better instructions. But once I started using the unit I was very pleased with the unit. I highly recommend and happy with the purchase

So exciting! I got this product, a large external hard drive and I have been transferring every family video of my families, my husbands family and this program has made it accessible to share and upload online privately so our friends and family, whom we chose, get to have all the same memories. We have actually even started family pages dedicated for everyone to actually post theirs and we can download them. It’s been so wonderful for us to watch the movies and view the photos and get to talk and share that with our children and grand children/

Simple to install. You will need to purchase RCA to connect VCR to your laptop to the Roxio connector. Setup was quick. Allows you to save to computer in different formats such as .WAV or .MPEG or burn to a DVD.
