For a first time user, this engine will probably be pretty good for them once they learn how to use it. Sharing games with others is simple and fast, allowing for many fun hours of playing other people's games. However, after using every other RPG Maker engine avaliable on the market, this one in particular is below par. Character creation is way too simplified - to the point where most users will probably resort to using the default templates just because it works and it's already there. Map creation takes forever, and typing text is the slowest thing possible. You are probably better off buying an RPG maker engine on the PC for ~$20 more compared to this.

While this is a much more simplified version of the PC RPG makers out there it does let you try your hand at making games. I bought it for my brother who fiddles with it from time to time, from what I've seen the program itself takes a bit of learning but makes it easier to make simpler games. Not to be bought with the intent of playing an rpg off the bat though, this is a simpler game developing tool although there's a free downloadable add-on in the Eshop that allows you to try others' creations.

This game is RPG Maker. You can make RPG games on your 3DS and then play them thereafter. You can also play other users' content. With that stated, the user interface is cramped and messy, compared to the RPG Maker software for PC. Expect to sink many hours into designing and crafting content. For me, I would much rather sink that time into another title.

This one has a steep learning curve. Not for me, but you can download the RPG maker for free if you just want to play other peoples creations.

This is my third RPG Maker game, and it has advantages and disadvantages over previous versions. The options for the user are somewhat limited - there is a small limit to the amount you can put into the game and cannot create custom assets. However, the interface is easy to use and anyone with a 2DS/3DS can play your games with a free app, so sharing is very easy.

I had heard about this game shortly before it's release and I was really intrigued. A portable 3DS game that really has the potential to be an RPG dream factory in the style of Super Nintendo and even PS1 games? Sign me up. This game delivers on all fronts. True it can take some time and true the learning curve is a bit steep without a tutorial or instructions, but if you stick with it and dive into what the game has to offer, you'll find enough substance and depth for one's imagination to last years! Love these types of games!

The game engine is simple but at the same time full of possibilities. Graphics are ok. Think snes rpg's like graphics. You can either built an rpg or download from people in the internet. Fun game.

If you're new to making a game, this is a great tool to pick up and learn the basics. And it is very basic, so if you're serious about making a fully fledged RPG, I'd suggest buying one of the PC versions.

Don't know how they did it, but the move from PC to 3DS still retains the fun and control.

I'm not sure this game is for everyone. But if you have interest into game creation it's a good tool to get some incite.
