This version in no way stacks up to the pc versions customization options and lacks any ability to add custom assets such as sprites, sounds and music but as far as a console version of this creation tool goes, this is BY FAR the absolute best RPG Maker ever released. Even though it lacks the ability to import assets, it does feature a rather deep character creation system that allows for over 100 custom characters to be created and the options are actually pretty impressive. The included dungeons, interiors, and exterior creations are massive and any kind of rpg can be created with this game including modern day rpg games. Just about everything from the pc version is here except for what's been mentioned and the ability to add plugins, but it does feature an awesome way to share your games online via the rpg maker community! This game features the ability to plug in a usb keyboard and save yourself some hassle from using a controller and also allows for touch screen typing in handheld. I'd highly reccomened this game for anyone wanting to create their first game and just learn the basics of how to plot, script and design their own game without the need for coding. As of this review, some glitches are still in the game like the wrong tiles loading up during gameplay but hopefully we'll see a patch for that soon.

So this is a bit harder to review than most videogames. There is a learning curve to get past if you want to truly make your own masterpieces, however, you can use templates if you want to go the simpler albeit more generic route. I bought this for my daughter so she and I could write and create our own adventure for other family members to play. The amount of options make creating your own RPG almost limitless. I highly recommend that you use Youtube and other online resources to aid you in your quest to make the perfect RPG. There is a lot to take in here. Don't expect to just pick this up and be on your way to game creation in minutes, or you will be disappointed. For those who are willing to learn the system in place, this is a great way to learn about game creation, and for those who simply want to play the works of others, there is an immense of entertainment to be had here. My ratings are for both the potential of the product and the ability to pick up and play great titles that have already been created by others. I would not get this for kids under the age of 13 unless you are willing to sit down and be part of the creation process with your child. If you are willing to do so, this is a great way to inspire creative young minds to engineer their own stories.

It makes you go through a tutorial before you can get into it. That is one of the frustrating things about the latest batch of these games. The mandatory tutorial before it lets you just get into it. So if your already familiar with the series of RPG makers it can be frustrating to have to spend 15 min to get through that. But once your into it its classic RPG maker. Make your own adventure using SNES style graphics, or DL adventures others have made.

If you love RPGS, and always wanted to create a game, this is the one for you.

This is really fun, but it’s pretty complicated as well. Cant do everything your thinking but if you ever wanted an experience trying to make a game. It gives you a good little experience and let’s you decide if you want to learn more about making full games.

I love how in depth this is. Creating maps,characters looks, skills stats, resistances,elements and more. It easy to get into the littlest things like the voices for your character and the tone or just writing dialogue,and is a must buy for someone who wants to make their own story. Only stay away from this game if you lack the patience of having to make everything.

I like making my own levels in games so getting to make my own games or play other peoples games is great but making your own games in this game is challenging and time consuming

The game is very fun, but the learning curve seems like an issue some will face as it can be very overwhelming. I always liked the rpg maker series and am glad to get a physical copy for the switch!

Pretty deep and fun but takes some time to figure out and get used to let alone make a game.

This is a great game for creative people who want to create their own unique games.

Need to dedicate some time learning the tools. Potential is there for some good games, but there will be a lot of junk as well. Free tool to play created games can downloaded from the eshop.

I find this game difficult to use the controls but otherwise enjoy all the details and customization if the game. I also like that I can send it to other people to play

I bought this for my 11 year old grandson for his birthday and it was frustrating plus confusing- he doesn’t use it at all. I feel I threw money away- there has to be a better way to determine if a game is fun and appropriate for particular age levels.

Love this game! I am having a lot of fun and it is very much worth the price. Would recommend!
