inally received my Samsung Chromebook 2 (11.6" version, jet black color) and have had a day to get it set up, mess around with it, and compare it to my Acer C720 Chromebook (2GB), as well as my previous experiences with the original Samsung Chromebook that was released back in 2012. My initial up front experience is that I am overall very satisfied with the improvements that Samsung has made! There are some areas I wish they improved, but overall for the price, this is an outstanding way to experience the Chrome OS. I'll touch on a few of my in-depth thoughts below, and I'll update this all in the future as I have more experience with the device. I'm going to focus more on the hardware and less on the operating system or software, since the OS will remain fairly consistent across all Chromebook devices and plenty of information already exists about Chrome OS online: Design/Materials/Build Quality: As mentioned above, I went with the jet black version. This new Chromebook 2 features Samsungs "stitched leather" design to the outside of the top shell, similar to what you see if you have ever used their Galaxy Note 3. It stands out a lot more when you see it spread across a much larger device like this. I'm going to be honest, I think some people are going to find this slightly tacky looking/feeling (especially the fake stitching around the edges), but personally I am a much bigger fan of it than I thought. For a computing device in this price range, you cannot really expect them to be able to throw on a full aluminum/metal case like you might find on a MacBook Pro or a higher end Ultrabook laptop. You're going to get something that is plastic or a more cost effective material, and honestly, I kind of like the way that this faux-leather design makes it stand out from other devices. And the overall build quality of the Chromebook 2 feels much improved over the original. It doesn't have as much "flex" to it, and even though it is still almost entirely plastic-based, it certainly feels like a step up. Also, compared to my Acer C720 side by side, the Samsung CB2 feels significantly higher in quality.

I like this Chromebook because of its simplicity, and low price. It doesn't take up a lot of space and maintenance is minimal.

This little outfit was really not what I was looking for, so I based my review on a few things... 1. It was really slow starting up and that was a no go for me at the beginning. It took longer than what I am use to seeing in a chromebook. The memory was also not enough for me. I am a chromebook fan but not in the samsung brand. It is small and good enough for a freshman in high school just to look on the internet, which comes to 2. Browsing is a bit slow and opening multiple pages in also a no go...it freezes with more than 4 pages open 3.Download is slow for large files 4. upload is pretty quick 5. connection to the internet is stable and playing games ont he internet is ok also It is small and weighs almost nothing whih is a plus. It has no cd/dvd rom drive and very portable. it does have an app store to download all your apps and games. It need not purchasing anti-virus and almost will not get any...I have use Acer Chromebook for over 8 years and love it. When purchasing one make sure to do the tutorial first....There are many hidden wonders. This particular one is not my favorite, too slow for me

Got this just for school. To be able to search web. Very light easy to use. Battery last about 8 hours which is great.

I just needed something simple to keep info for my band. Couldn't beat the price. Only drawback was wifi only. I didn't notice that and at the time didn't have wifi in my house since I didn't need it. So hooking up to the net was a problem. i have since moved and the new place has wifi and the computer works great. The time commitments with my new job make playing in a band impossible so am using this computer with my TV. So far I haven't found anything to complain about.

I was looking for something aleek and affordable. Perfect for writing papers for s hool or surfing the net. I Dec recommend this purchase. Samsung has done it again! I love this lightweight laptop. I can get my work done anywhere. You will not be disappointed with this decent priced laptop!

It's a good tablet-like device. You're not able to use it like the conventional windows laptops, but overall it's a good machine. We've had no issues with it. I purchased it for Grandma who only uses it for internet surfing. I would purchase it again to use when I travel to watch movies, surf the internet etc. It's compact, light, and quick.

I teach high school English. We frequently use Chromebooks in the classroom, so when I was looking for a laptop for my 10-year-old son I knew that this was what I wanted. It's cheap and easily replaceable, introduces Google platforms, and has good battery life. It lacks storage space, of course, but it functions well if your purpose is educational.

I bought 3 of these,for my 11 yr old, 9 yr old and my parents. The girls love it. They like typing out letters on google docs. My parents haven't used it much yet. I bought one for myself back in July. I didn't need a true laptop at home and this just satisfies the in between need of a home computer, laptop or tablet.

I bought one for my 13 year old and another for my 10 year old, so far so good no problems. Is good enough for browsing the internet, playing a few games, listening to music and watching videos. Is light weight and small enough to fit in a backpack.

The computer runs smooth after a few months of use. I mainly use this computer for online streaming and simple tasks. The lack of hard drive space doesn't allow for much downloading. I would suggest this laptop for students and anyone using it for mostly online use.

My daughters just needed laptops to help them complete research projects at their STEM Academy. I bought 2 of them and for the price they’ve been great! I would recommend for browsing, reading, online curriculum for schools and some light web games. Not fancy but very useful!

We needed to replace an older Chrome Book that has performed flawlessly until it outlived support - and then started crashing. This small, light-weight device is a favorite when we travel and easily fits in a backpack.
