All the bells and whistles he wanted and it connects easily with his new tv. It provides a nice upgraded sound during any watch mode for the tv. Not too big either...

It's easy to use and works especially great with Samsung TVs. It doesn't have deep basses, but the volume of the two woofers may be adjusted independently. The main drawback is that a subwoofer or additional rear speaker cannot be added.

Good, Not Great

So many TV's these days have very limited volume range and this unit is just what I needed. No woofer but that 's not a problem where this unit is used. This soundbar is not for the home theater crowd. An HDMI ARC capability would have been ideal but using the optical connection is proving acceptable.

I have this linked to my Samsung tv with the optical cable and occasionally the volume is not responsive: the tv will display "optical" and the volume won't change (eg can't mute/unmute or raise/lower volume). If I cancel the channel, it becomes responsive. This happens with both the tv remote, so I have to grab this sound bar's remote. They're both Samsung, so I'd expect a better experience. I wish the tv would display this devices volume level and not just "optical" (the sound output destination). I still recommend it because I use it with my phone to listen to music when I'm not watching TV and it works well.
