Pluses and Minuses

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
First the minuses: The door is HUGE, although the interior cooking space isn't, so if you've got a narrow kitchen with a counter behind you (or short arms!), be aware you may have to kind of dodge out of the way as you open the door. The glass control panel can be kind of finicky to get the buttons to "read". You can only program in two cycles at a time, instead of the three on my old microwave (for instance, Defrost 5 minutes, rest 5 minutes, defrost another 5 minutes) and I find that's an annoyance that requires a lot more running back and forth to check food.
Pluses: The interior is dark, which feels strange at first, but the beauty of it is you don't see every food speck and spatter, and I have to admit I don't wipe out my microwave after every use. You can turn on or off the "reminder beeps" that continue for a few minutes after the cycle completes. You can turn off the turntable if you need to. It seems to cook evenly.

I use this microwave a lot, purchased it as a set with the range. Looks good in the kitchen. Could have bought a cheaper version since I do not use all the electronic programming , but it is a still a great buy.

I love this Microwave! It is huge! We had to redo the cabinets to fit but this was worth it! I would have given 5 stars but I find it sometimes does not respond quickly to touch. Occasionally, I have to press the buttons several times to get it's attention. Still, I'm very happy with it.

A little pricey but worth it for the look

I just really like the look of this model. The led lights are nice and bright. The vent has 4 speed settings which is nice as well. The door does swing out pretty far so that will take some getting use to. Also the buttons sometimes require a firm push. Otherwise I would totally recommend this microwave.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Last year I replaced all of my appliances with Samsung but rest assured my next house won't have a single Samsung component in it. A $500 microwave ought to last longer than 365 days of occasional use. The push buttons on the glass are hard to get to respond. Ok, learning curve. 3 weeks ago it lost all power/no display, lights/fan did not work. Completely dead. Confirmed outlet had power. Plugged the unit back in and thought, ok that didn't last long. 10 minutes later it mysteriously came back alive and we used until it went out again and never came back on.
Samsung Support is a joke. You call in and sit on hold for almost an hour. Then you argue with them over who's going to pay for it, then they finally agree to cover it under a "one-time courtesty repair" (meaning that after its fixed if the same thing happens two weeks from now, I'm screwed). Set a tentative repair date for this coming Thurs (today). But that someone would call and confirm. Next day Samsung calls and confirm for Thursday. Sit here all day on Thursday and no one comes or calls. At 4pm I called Samsung and start back all over again on the phone prompts (they should have a way to check ticket status online or by phone so you're not wasting 20 minutes). Finally talk to an operator that says my ticket was cancelled because the repair center could not contact the customer (me). I said I have been here all day with my phone and no one has called. They confirm they had my correct number, and they give me the number to the local repair center. When I call them they say they don't have the ticket scheduled because the ticket is locked and they can't assign it. The nice lady says she'll call Samsung to get it straightened out, but that they are booked until next week.
I actually bought the Samsung refrigerator the year before and the ice maker quit working six months after I bought it. I don't use it that often, so I never called to have it repaired.
Last year when replacing the rest of the appliances, I had to take the dishwasher back. Wouldn't work. The replacement powered up but did a horrible job cleaning dishes. Took that back. The guy at the store said out of all of the appliances they sell, Samsung's are returned more than any other brand. My GE appliances were 10 years old and never had a service issue with them.
Fortunately I won't have these much longer because I'm selling my house.

Stylish, feature packed microwave

This microwave is packed with features. I love the look of the LED lights, they use little energy, and produce no heat. There is also a timer that you can set to turn the lights on and off at a particular time, so you can use them as an automatic night light. The vent blower works well and also has an automatic shutoff timer if you want to use it. One thing to watch for if family members are short, the control panel takes up the bottom part of what would normally be the window. The window is small and darkly tinted too, so it is hard to see inside when the food is cooking. Noise level is low, cooking power is fairly high compared to my previous LG.
Like most of these, installation is hard. It is big and heavy and they provide a flimsy strip bracket to go against the wall compared to the larger U-shaped bracked other brands have. But with two people and lots of time it installed OK.

I don't understand the great reviews. I purchased this microwave and the buttons were non responsive. I am a strong guy and after only three days my index fingers feel blistered and bones in my fingers hurt. Unreal that they sell this with such a terrible keypad. I was bummed because it looks good. I would have to push a button aggressively numerous times to register. I went back to the store to have them swap it out because it was defective. I went to try the display in the store and was amazed by the same difficulty. The supervisor was equally shocked by this. I am awaiting the exchange for the Samsung with the dial operation, which was soooo much better. all of the Samsung keypads have the same issue.
$450 for sore fingers and the number one functionality being the keyboard equals epic fail.

There really is nothing special about this microwave outside of the appearance. The touch buttons are not very sensitive which means you need to push the numbers multiple times. Overall, it is a microwave and serves its purpose.

Microwave broke after 14 months. Samsung won't repair or replace due to over 1 year. The microwave just died 1 weeks ago, won't even turn on. The front buttons are difficult to use, the unit was loud and the fan would take forever to turn off.
Will never buy a Samsung product again :( :(

I have found two things that I think could be improved. 1. The exhaust fan is awfully noisy. 2. The light inside while heating is not strong enough to watch your item heating.

Most of the numerical buttons stopped working after a year or so. No help from Samsung service since more than a year old. The number 4 number 2 number 8 don't work, need to hit light button several times to turn on. It is good at softening butter. Tried unplugging & restarting and that didn't help. Very frustrating for what was a 400 dollar microwave. Now I see why it's half price.

First, the microwave looks nice, matches other appliances pretty well. The touch screen can fail to detect touches all the time - my wife and kids can't stand it. That is almost a reason to get something else.
But then I called Samsung over a broken part - grease filter wouldn't stay in place since day 1. They first told me they would investigate and get back to me, but never did. So after a few weeks I called them back and they told me that I broke it and they would be voiding my warranty. Really. So I escalated the case. They also told me I must have broken it installing it, even though it was a part *inside* the microwave that was broken. So I asked them to just send me the part and I'd fix it myself. Nope, they wouldn't do that, wouldn't even help me by giving me the part number. I should have just returned it to the store, but since it was already installed I knew that was going to be a pain. The hour I spent on the phone with Samsung was painful and a complete slap in the face to anyone that spent $400 on a microwave - for that reason alone I cannot recommend buying *any* Samsung product to anyone. Ever.

I bought this less than two years ago. Initially I loved it, it looks beautiful, the blue light beneath was very nice and I would sometimes put it on in the evening and it provided a nice ambiance in the kitchen.
However after about 14 months a couple of the buttons stopped working but I figured I could deal with it. Very quickly another number stopped working, then another and another. Within 15 months after purchase almost all the buttons stopped working. Right now the only one that works in +30.
I complained to Best Buy but they said my warranty had expired. I called Samsung and got the same answer. So no more Samsung for me and I recommend you buy a different manufacturer. I just purchased a new refrigerator and opted for LG.

Happy with our purchase so far. Owned for a month. Wish it had single button cooking like our last microwave. Bummer having to push time, then start. Everything else working great.

Our old microwave died over Thanksgiving weekend. We ordered this online and have been extremely happy with it. There isn't anything I don't like about it. Easy to use, easy to clean.
