Customers are saying

Customers commend the 22.1 Cu. Ft. 4-Door Flex French Door Counter-Depth Fingerprint Resistant Refrigerator with Food ShowCase for its spaciousness, with ample shelving areas, and its Flex zone, which is well-liked. The counter-depth design is also a hit, as it adds more space to kitchens. While many appreciate the showcase door and the overall design, some customers have concerns about the ice maker's inadequacy and the refrigerator not being truly fingerprint resistant.

    Not a good purchase

We bought this refrigerator 5 years ago. It’s been quite the challenge. Primarily the ice maker somehow spills internally and freezes the cover so it is next to impossible to pull out. Several plastic pieces have come off or broken over time. And now the main refrigerator has an issue where it doesn’t seem to cool to the thermostat temperature. The repair person tried changing the temperature sensor and that didn’t work. Now they are saying it’s the control board that needs to be replaced.

    Absolute disaster

Within the 8 months that we've owned this refrigerator: * The ice maker has broken, dumping water out of the front and ruining our wood floors. * The freezer has stopped working, thawing all of our food. * The electronics have fried, causing it to reset itself every minute. * The door sensor has broken, causing it to constantly beep alerting us to an open door that isn't open. * It sprung a leak underneath the refrigerator, once again dumping water all over our wood floors. I wish we could get our money back and have it out of our house, because it's a liability that has cost us thousands in repairs and wasted food.

    Samsung faied to honor warranty

I purchased my refrigerator from Best Buy. The latch sealing the door and the compressor broke. Samsung sent service people out that were not trained to fix a compressor unit. They told me to find someone to fix it and Samsung would reimburse me. I obtained an estimate and presented it to Samsung. Samsung authorized the repair. I had it repaired, wrote a check and sent it to Samsung for reimbursement. It has been over 12 calls in a year later and I still do not have the reimbursement. They give me every excuse and keep telling me that someone will call me within 24 to 48 hours. No one will call. I called again and again with the same result and hours on the phone. Sometimes Samsung would promise me the reimbursement but then no one would call to follow through. I’m having to sue Samsung in small claims court for almost $3000. Do not buy a Samsung anything unless you want to spend hours talking to someone in a third world country who doesn’t have the authority to do anything to help you. Samsung warranty is a scam and they have failed to stand behind their product or fulfil any of their promises.

Nice Features But Don't Buy It

I had this fridge for 4 years. I love the flex section that can be anything from a freezer compartment to a drink fridge. I love the showcase door-in-door for quickly grabbing milk and condiments without having to open the whole fridge. BUT... There is a known problem with the ice maker leaking out the dispenser and ice damming. When it first started after about 3 years I had to defrost the ice maker about every 6 weeks, but eventually I had to do it every 2 weeks. Then for no reason at all the fridge just died after 4 years. Thank God I got the Geek Squad Protection plan! I've replaced it with a GE and won't buy Samsung again.

Nice Fridge but be careful with the exterior it is very easy to scratch and there is no way to remove the hairline scratches. Also it states it is finger print resistant but finger prints will still show up and need to be wiped away.

    Great fridge, terrible ice maker

Love the fridge itself, but after owning it for just 10 months, the ice maker has failed for the second time. There is a class-action suit being filed against Samsung on the poor design of the unit. If you're OK with using a separate ice maker, you'll love the fridge. Otherwise, the ice maker WILL fail and you will be disappointed. The good: plenty of storage, flexible compartments, and love how you can configure the bottom-right compartment to be fridge or freezer. Brilliant feature! It's quiet, the lighting is great, and it can pop up an alert on your phone if the door is left open. All great stuff. The bad: the ice maker. It really ruins the whole experience. We don't have a place to put a stand-alone ice maker, nor do we want to incur the cost of that. Thankfully, we purchased the Geek Squad protection plan and are now going to be exchanging it for a different model, and to be safe, it will most likely be a different brand. I hate it though, because we really love the fridge!

    Ice maker problems

I should have known better when I initially made this purchase and the sales guy informed me that he’s heard these fridges have some ice maker issues... but I was carried away by this fridges good looks, and had already pictured it in my new houses kitchen... now fast forward 1 year, to today. I’ve loved the fridge and get compliments on it by guests, but they don’t know I’ve had to accommodate two repair men to come out... I say accommodate because you have to go off of their schedule, at least where I live. They tell you a day, and then the day of they give you a 2-3 hour window making it kind of hard to know if you need a full day off or not. The first repair man replaced the ice maker and claimed that Samsung realized the defect and corrected it in the new model. He also turned down the water pressure to the fridge... not more than 2 months later it was back to not working. So they sent the repair person out and they said sure enough, it’s not working. Samsung is supposedly calling me sometime during the next couple days to see where to go from here, but we will see. It’s a shame a $3,000 is cursed with these issues. Now when I say the ice maker doesn’t work, it essentially freezes over so it doesn’t move. Sometimes I’ve also been lucky to have the ice part leak out into the floor. Don’t be fooled by the high price, brand name and good looks. It’s what’s on the inside the counts.

I'll start by saying I loved this refrigerator when we first bought it. I still love the 4 doors and look of it. My frustration is with the ice maker. It started about 6 months after we purchased it. A block of ice forms over the icemaker and it stops working. I have to take a blowdryer and "defrost" the inside of the ice maker. I now have to do this every 2-3 months. It's a known issue, I've read about it on countless sites but Samsung won't acknowledge the issue. They would always tell me to turn off the ice maker for 24 hours and turn it back on. When I contacted them today they informed me that its now out of warranty so they couldn't help me. I expected better from a $3,500 purchase.

    Buyer Be Aware

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

Great refrigerator but horrible for fingerprints

We love this counterdepth refrigerator. The option to use one of the lower sections as either a refrigerator or freezer is a great concept. It's quiet, and looks great in our kitchen. However, it is stingy with ice, and it's definitely not "smudgeproof" as advertised. Making the area where you have to put your hands to open the refrigerator a bright chrome was very poor design. If fingerprints bug you, this might not bee the fridge for you.

    Buyer Beware! Low/Leaky Ice Production

I wanted to love this fridge. I bought a full suite of Samsung appliances and was very disappointed. The ice maker is way to small and slow. Takes a few days to full up the very small ice holder. The fridge is now out of warranty and has developed a leak in the ice maker. Do a search and you'll find more people out there with a similar problem.

I had high hopes for this refrigerator (bought in Nov 2016) but it failed me in few ways. I purchased $6000 worth of Samsung appliance (at Bestbuy Austin, TX) for my kitchen renovation FYI.: 1. Samsung (repair) service - ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE and WORTHLESS! First, it was impossible to get someone -- EVEN AFTER I had submitted very detailed description of the problem with pics and video. It took me 3 days to get someone to help. First few could not speak or understand basic English FYI. Samsung authorized person came and literally tried to confront me when I described the problem -- saying I should take up the issue with Samsung for their "design problem." He didn't fix anything and kept his tone very aggressive that there's nothing wrong with the ice maker (except Samsung's design problem) and there's nothing he can do. He refused to correct or replace sliding shelf. 2. Freezing Ice Maker - I read all over the place that it is their design problem. First the ice maker doesn't even produce full (small) basket overnight. Then when the basket is full, it continues to pour water and eventually freeze the unit. You will then have to tune off the entire unit to thaw out. Worthless (and expensive) refrigerator. Do not buy Samsung appliance. I would never buy Samsung appliance again.

    One word - Terrible

This is a well-documented issue with this fridge and other similar models from Samsung. Just Google "Samsung ice maker freezing up" and you'll be presented with a plethora of cases including videos, blogs, pictures etc. - including temporary band-aid fixes with sealing/silicone-ing everything etc. Not long after the "fix", the icemaker will freeze up again and frustrate the crap out of you. Ours was replaced 3 times and it is still broken! Samsung won't admit it is simply bad engineering / poor design. Hopefully there will be a class action lawsuit against them soon because the sheer amount of people having issues with these ice makers is absolutely ridiculous, to say the least. When I bought mine, unfortunately it was a brand new style/model and not many reviews were available at that time. We got it because it looked good, fit well in the spot for the fridge and matched well with the rest of our non-Samsung appliances. The fridge/freezer itself still work well, no issues there - but if you value getting ice out of your ice dispenser, that is not a feature that will last very long for you and without issues/fixes/repairs. Now that the warranty has run out, Samsung won't do anything about it, so like a moron I manually fill store-bought ice into the bucket so that our family and guests can have ice when needed. I might as well go back to 1982 and use ice trays Samsung! Anyway, learn from my woes - I'm doing my part of informing you as a customer and have tried to leave reviews about this issue on every website that sells this model. Consider yourself warned. If you must get it, do yourself a favor and get a long term warranty plan, you'll need it.

Stay as far away from this refrigerator as possible. The things people are saying about the temperature not being consistent, is true. We have experienced food going bad in the deli drawers. This is not just a bad buy, it's not safe when it comes to possibly eating spoiled food. Now I'm having problems with the freezer. My wife and I have decided it's just not worth repairing again.

We purchased this for a high end Spec house on the beach. We were wowed by the 4 door flexibility and its a good looking unit. This house has been on the market for 6 months and we have had the frig. running because we have stayed in the house a few times we've visited. EVERY TIME we show up, the ice maker is froze up, we can't pull the ice bucket out, and the water dispenser is not working. The only fix we have found is to defrost the frig. and replace the water filter at $50 a pop. Fortunately we have been able to do this ourselves without a repairman and expense. We have since found there is a class action lawsuit for this model and others for Samsung ice makers. I will never buy Samsung appliances again. Same house we have a Samsung dishwasher that has broken twice in the same first year. Keep in mind, this is a house that is rarely used!

After owning this refrigerator for a little over 2 years, the ice maker started freezing up and stopped making ice, The only way to get it working again was to thaw out the ice with a hair dryer. It will work for a week then have to do the same thing again.
