REVIEW OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR WARRANTY PERIOD

Ice machine not working, refrigerator only 8 months old Very difficult to get in touch with tech support, long wait then a Spanish speaker with minimal English , tried to work through the problem for an hour, he finally just hung-up, second day exact same scenario , hung up after about 35 minutes, 3rd day , same people , nice person and helpful, determined he cannot help, needed to make appointment with local distributor which they do not do. Needed receipt uploaded and sent to new address , waited 2 days for return call, finally make apointment for today, hopefully it will work. We own 6 Samsung phones, 3 TV sets, laptops and more, will rethink before buying Samsung again, very, very disappointing

    Happy with this refrigerator

Did lots of research before purchase. Have used it for 6 months now so feel able to give fair review. Several bad reviews noted these items: 1- Noise: My refrigerator sits in kitchen adjacent to great room. Every now and then I will hear a slight noise then realize it's the refrigerator. I'm talking very slight noise, no where near what some reviews stated. Satisfied with noise. 2- Ice Maker: Many reviews stating ice maker did not work. My refrigerator was set up by Best Buy, including the ice maker. It did not work either. Arranged repair via Samsung warranty and it was fixed within two weeks. Repair man stated it wasn't set up properly. Watched Best Buy do it per owners manual so not sure what happened however replacement has not failed. One star deduction since it didn't work initially however satisfied with ice maker. For me the refrigerator side has one shelf too many. You have to set one section very narrow if you wish to put tall items such as milk or 2L drink bottles on one. Fortunately the door storage facilitates this so I just had to get used to it. Just had a red icon appear on display, did not realize there was an in line water filter which now needs to be replaced. Checked on line and they run ~$25 a piece for OEM filter. Info states they last 6 months or 400 gallons. Not that big a deal although price seems high. Some cheaper alternatives out there but want to see an OEM replacement before I consider looking at others. I like this refrigerator and would certainly recommend it to others.

1st set was delivered and did not work. 2nd unit was delivered a week later and has stopped working exactly three months later. No help from Samsung or Best Buy. Here it is 14 days later and Samsung still cannot send a repairman. I should have stuck to GE and purchased elsewhere.

Very happy with customer service of Best Buy. When delivered the refrigerator did not have all the sticker tags in it and the delivery guy made mention to me. Called the store and they sent a new fridge otherwise the warranty would not have been honored. Fridge is just great for our kitchen.

Would not recommend a samsung fridge but if you do purchase one, make sure you purchase the extended warranty because you will have issues with this fridge. I have had multiple issues requiring service.

Our 12 year old Samsung fridge was becoming expensive to maintain, and we replaced it with this. Lighting is nice, but leaves dark spots. To much plastic where I think they should have used metal, such as in the ice maker. Finally, it makes a loud, high pitched whistling noise when it refills the ice maker. Old one didn't do that. Wish you could check noise in the store.

Purchased this Samsung side by side with twin cooling system and within three years fridge side has died. Had Samsung-recommended repair service out, only to be told the needed parts are not made any more!!! Now we have a large shiny silver paperweight in our kitchen and are living out of a cooler. Samsung support is useless...will not stand behind their product. Do your research online...this is a known problem.

After 12 years with a troublesome refrigerator we decided to look at a new appliance. Since there were only two of us in the household, capacity didn't really matter. We were looking for the latest technology that would be energy efficient and trouble free. The unit was delivered on June 1, 2014. All seemed good for about two weeks when the ice maker would not dispense ice. The chute was clogged. I emptied it. The next day the same thing happened. I referred to the owners manual that suggested we lower the freezer temperature. Went from zero degrees to minus 3 degrees. That didn't help. Lowered to minus 6 degrees. That seemed to work but the ice wanted to clump together. The ice maker is on the door. The ice clumping made me suspicious of the temperature in the freezer. I went out and purchased 6 dial refrigerator/freezer thermometers and put three in the freezer and three in the refrigerator. The next morning the freezer temperature was plus 14 degrees and the refrigerator was plus 46 degrees. Contacted Samsung. Suggested unplugging the refrigerator for a few minutes and then plugging it in. Sort of the old "reboot" the electronics trick. That didn't help. Set the refrigerator side to 34 degrees. The temperature wouldn't budge and go lower. Set the unit to power cool. That brought it down to plus 37 degrees but I had to turn off the power cool for fear of freezing the items in the refrigerator side. In the meantime, the temperature in the freezer was now going down to minus 14 degrees and would slowly creep up to plus 10 degrees. Then one evening we heard a sound similar to a muffled motor boat sound coming from the rear of the unit. It sounded like a weed wacker at idle was my next thought. Contacted Samsung. The suggestion was to have a service call made. I completed on online form. The service request form required me to scan my original invoice into my laptop and transfer it into Samsung's service request. I received a service request ticket number at that point. The next morning the weed wacker noise went away. I waited for a response. The response was in the form of an email. The email stated: 1. Defrost the Fridge for 2 hours. Make sure to remove all of the foods inside of the fridge. 2. Physical damage or any damage is not cover by the warranty. Y/N. 3. Set the unit into Serviceable position. Y/N. 4. If there is no manufacture's defect, customer will be paying for the service center's evaluation and trip charge. Y/N 5. Alternate phone number. Send us another service request including the troubleshooting you performed and we will get back to you again. This ticket will be close since your going to create another service request. That was some email and I wanted to have someone come and take the thing away and drop ship it to the Samsung CEO's front door. I responded not to nicely to the email as you can imagine. After five days another email followed and stated that they would be sending someone to my home to look at the refrigerator. Two days later a tech came, looked at it and said that the issue could be with the main circuit board. So now I wait for the tech to return with a new circuit board. I will update this review a few days after the circuit board is replaced. In the meantime I cannot recommend this unit.

I waited to review because I wanted to be able to fully get used to the product and experience with it. I'm very very happy with all of my Samsung appliances including this fridge. I love the digital display, cubed and crushed ice features and the power cool feature. Sometimes when I clean it out and the door has been open for a while I will use the power cool to return back to temp. Seems rather quiet while in operation whereas some models such as my old GE were rather noisy. I was hesitant on the side by side rather than French door but even with my large grocery loads I still manage to have plenty of room left. Extra spacious unit and the water tastes incredible even with our heavy chlorinated city water. I use that water to cook with and even for my dogs water bowl. Very happy with my decision on this unit and Best Buy is the best place in my opinion to ever purchase appliances! Thank you Samsung and Best Buy!

Refrigerator is 2 years old, only the freezer side is working. No one is allowed to work on a Samsung other than Samsung. Ice maker has always been poor. You get crushed ice no matter what the setting. The space is good, the design and layout is very good. Very disappointed with the quality.

Everything went well for 7 months

THEN the ice maker stopped working and tiny dents appeared spontaneously on the front of the fridge above the ice dispenser on the other side of the ice maker. The first dent, we argued about, but there was no one else in our home and while we were arguing, at least a dozen more dents appeared in a pattern on the door. I'm sure it has something to do with the ice maker and know they use dry ice to fix dents, so as weird as this sounds, it's a thing. I have video. The ice maker began to slowly work again, but it doesn't make nearly enough ice like it did the first 7 months. And now it's all dented. I am absolutely furious with this purchase. To make matters worse, Samsung had a special where if you buy 3 or more major appliances, you get back $300. So we bought 5 appliances. They never sent the money after 6 months, so I had to call. After my call, they sent me a debit card with $150 on it. So I had to call again and still waiting for the other half. The person on the phone acted like Samsung didn't have the money to honor the promise even though this indicates they sold a BUNCH of major appliances. The microwave, stove with convection and dishwasher are all doing very well, but if we have to buy a new refrigerator, there's no way it will be a Samsung. I'm glad I bought the Geek Squad insurance though i haven't had time to call them yet. I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced the weird tiny dents that just appear. Please, if you have experienced this, reply to let me know.

Another Fail after just 3 years

Read the Reviews! Can ALL of these people really be wrong? No "deal" is worth having to buy another refrigerator in 3 years. We trusted Samsung ("SamSTUNG," as my husband now calls them) and BestBuy and they really they let us down. Just like the reviewer below, the refrigerator side quit cooling after only 3 years. We have the extended warranty, and Best Buy has sent a repairman out here to our house 3 times. Three times this refrigerator was supposedly "fixed" and it is now dead a 4th time. We have lost 3 refrigerators full of food after trusting that it really was fixed. Like other reviewers, we are now living out of a dorm refrigerator. BestBuy said that they would not send another repair company out for 90 days...even though, we thought, the first repair company repeatedly had failed to fix the problem. Well, apparently, it's not the repair company's fault. The fridge CAN'T be fixed---See the other reviews. We are having to walk the refrigerator and extended warranty and start over again with a new fridge. Really disappointed.

Refrigerator runs well keeps things cold or frozen. LED lights work great when empty not so great when full should of staged them in different locations. My only problem with it is when water is being sent to the ice maker it is very loud. It only last about 10 seconds if you are deaf or hard of hearing no problem. I have purchased lots of Samsung items this is the first item that isn't perfect. I'm a little disappointed in Samsung to not correct this flaw.

We purchased a refrigerator at Best Buy two years ago and have have nothing but problems with it. First the water filter holder sprung a leak that the company was aware of because they knew the exact part to send and the ice maker makes a loud noise and just yesterday the refrigerator quit working. I called and the customer service girl was rude and said I should have bought the extended warranty. Really I just spent a thousand dollars should last longer than two years!

    Buyer Be Aware

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

Purchased a Samsung Refrigerator in 2010.... In 5 years I have had 3 service calls... one that required a complete refrigerator replacement and two more when the cooling stopped working. This is my first and last purchase of a Samsung appliance. Samsung should stick to creating throwaway TVs and not household appliances that require a long life and quality workmanship.
