Purchased this product based off the great reviews on multiple websites and consumerreports.org; but we should have bought something else. Purchased December of 2015; it stopped cooling July of 2017. Contacted Samsung and a contracted repair guy took the fridge over a month ago. He's called Samsung techs about 5 times and "repaired" so many different parts of the fridge but it still won't work. Our previous, cheap fridge at least lasted 5 years. Now we are trying to get Samsung to either replace it or give a refund because it can't be fixed. If you still want to buy this fridge, do yourself a favor and buy the extended warranty, because you're going to need it!

Not a big fan of this purchase and if I could I would return. The shelving set up give you little options as to how tall you can make the shelves. I can only manage one tall shelf for milk and juices, not second option for a bottle beer with out loosing height on another shelf. The lightening is not as good as advertised. The lower section looks like the light is out and even the tech tried to replace only to find out their was not a light. Ice machine takes forever to dispense and capacity is poor. Water and Ice dispensing requires you to hold the cup instead of resting on shelve. Hard to fill water bottles with the water set up. Water replenish makes major noise when feeling, ridiculous. Simply not a fan...had a Whirlpool at my last house and it was superior to this refrigerator.

    Failed after only 2 years

I purchased this model in June of 2015. In May of 2017 the freezer slowly failed. 1st service visit said it was probably the inverter board, they often go bad. That didn't fix it. 2nd service visit said it must be the main control board. That didn't fix it. 3rd service visit said that the sealed compressor system is bad and should be replaced under Samsung extended warranty - Call Samsung. I did but after 21 days, multiple calls, and 4 service tickets being opened by Samsung, we still hadn't had a factory authorized service tech sent out. It was very very frustrating, to say the least! Finally, I had to find a factory authorized tech without Samsung's help. 5th service visit said the compressor system was contaminated, as well as the evaporator which, due to its close proximity to the thin plastic walls of the freezer was impossible to replace with out melting the plastic with the blow torch. No service company will replace the evaporator because they (and not Samsung) are on the hook for the damage to the walls of the freezer compartment. So the refrigerator is officially unrepairable. Now I get to argue with Samsung for reimbursement. I've heard that that can take up to 3 months of phone calls, and even then may not succeed.

Fridge is very loud. Had geek squad come out and they "stuffed foam" in it to cut down on vibrating. Quiter now, but still loud. A $1600 fridge should run quiter than my previous 12 year old fridge. Wouldn't recommend.

    A shiny lemon

Poor quality. This fridge has cost 100's in repairs, wasted time, and spoiled food and has fully died at 9 years old. Among the things that have broken during it's unimpressive lifespan - loose display panel, the ice dispenser lever, the electronic control for the ice/water dispenser, one of the water pump components, and finally, the compressor. It's annoying to see those gross old fridges from the 80's or 90's that are still running smoothly when this thing was needing repairs every 6 months.

    Not good!

I purchased a Samsung product after I decided I would never buy another GE product. I've had more problems with the Samsung in two years then I had with the GE in six. First things first, the icemaker is terrible, they might as well leave out the setting for a full cube because no matter how you set it you might get lucky and get two full cubes per glass of ice. The rest of the ice is virtually no different than putting it on crushed. Right after the warranty ran out the refrigerator side froze up and I had to replace the fan motor for that side of the refrigerator. Because I'm skilled at repairing things I was able to make the repair myself costing me $45 if I pay to repair man it would've been close to $400. Samsung makes a lot of good products but this is not one of them.

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE SAMSUNG REFRIGERATORS

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the first negative review I've ever written, and I only write it now to hopefully save you much frustration and money. As of April, 2020 there is a class-action lawsuit (https://www.classaction.org/samsung-refrigerator-ice-maker-lawsuit) filed against Samsung for faulty freezing mechanisms that they not only refuse to repair but continue to produce in new freezers. Essentially, the freezer will frost over completely and the fan (which runs several times per hour) grinds against the ice making a horrendously loud noise, also making it mandatory for you to DEFROST with a blow dryer every 2-3 weeks. Samsung customer service will not repair this free if your standard 1-yr. warranty has expired. If you insist on purchasing this, then I beg you to buy the extended warranty, and after that, assume you'll be buying a new refrigerator out-of-pocket. I have bought three Samsung refrigerators (one for my house and two for rentals). The first experienced this problem after several years (5), the second after 3, and the third is less than a year old (and I'm just waiting on it). I'll never buy Samsung again.

This refrigerator required an immediate repair of the freezer door hinge within a week of arrival. Now after a year, the unit is not freezing, trying to get a technician to work on it is very frustrating with the lack of local Samsung support. I have other brand refrigerators with much better quality and service. I would not recommend Samsung.

Door bins fall out and crack

Purchased this fridge from hhg in 2015. Makes ice, keeps things cold, but the door bins are of poor quality. The bins on the freezer door randomly fall off of the door, and one of the bins on the fridge door developed a crack and when we tried to tape it back together, the clear plastic shattered. The fridge is less than 2 years old and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

    Very Poor Quality, Worse Service

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

May be a design flaw. I have the RS25H5111SR side by side dual cooling. Mine started freezing up after 18 months, I thawed it and it is freezing up again, i.e. going warm. Our milk has spoiled 3 times as well as other food. The worse part is that I called Samsung, they gave me a service ticket and then emailed me that they cancelled it. This happened TWICE. The compressor is still under warranty, but I guess they won't service there equipment if only part is under warranty. LESS than 1 STAR for Samsung frig. Buyer Beware, check the internet.

We have had two of the fridge door shelves fall apart while holding normal weight (jelly jars and dressings) We purchased the expensive protection plan, and Best Buy wont replace the shelves. Other than than, it's a great appliance.

    Broke almost immediately

Compressor went dead after just a couple of months. Have had a local repairman look at it and tell me that he can't touch compressor or it voids the warranty, waited 2 weeks for Samsung repair crew who are just local subcontractors, they inspected it and told me they don't fix compressors, now I'm waiting for a call from Samsung to schedule another repair appointment and it looks like it's going to be 3 weeks+ without a fridge, I came from Whirpool which never broke in 10 years, was a terrible decision to buy Samsung, their compressors are complete trash and their warranty sucks. Don't buy this junk.

Let me just say the staff a best buy are great people to work with. I wish I could say the same for this Samsung refrigerator. It's a complete fail. It turns it self off and does not turn back on. Samsung is know help. and after using it for a couple of months it will now go to the trash bin. Never will I buy anything again with the name Samsung on it. total waste of money.

    Expect rust

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We immediately started seeing discoloration and rust on the freezer door near the external ice dispenser. What they won't point out in the store is that the warranty won't cover cosmetic issues. So don't buy unless you're looking for a new "rustic" fridge! Oh, and they also sent a repair guy out just to tell me rust isn't covered after I told them over the phone exactly what the problem was! Waste of a the time I took off work.
