    Freezing filters

We got this 6 years ago and had always had issues with a noisy fan and ice build up. Occasionally the water line would freeze up and wouldn't dispense water. Water line would free up after a couple hours. The last 3 months it has frozen and shattered 2 water filters causing the fridge to fill up with water thus when we open door a couple gallons of water would pour out all over the floor. Now it started to do this thaw out thing where it defrosted the freezer and now won't get cold enough to freeze anything. We wouldn't recommend a Samsung after this experience

    Junk!

We've had ours now for over 3 years, and after a few months it started building ice on the floor of the freezer and not making ice in the ice maker. They sent a guy out twice, both times he cleans it all up and tells us to keep it clean in the back of the fridge and to leave it a few inches away from the wall. Well 1 year warranty expires and then they wanted $350 to extend it for 3 years which is crazy and I refuse to pay that especially since they were already out twice and did nothing to fix the problem. Well here we are now after over 3 years of owning it, it continues to freeze on the bottom and not make ice. After this entire experience, I will be buying another fridge, and I will make sure to never buy another Samsung appliance, ever.

This fridge does the job - nothing too fancy but a good purchase for the price. Seems to easily get dinged so be careful but otherwise a solid purchase.

Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

Great value for the price. There is lots of room in both the fridge and freezer. The shelves help organize items to maximize the available space.

    Great except for controls

Very good value for a basic refrigerator, except for the control panel. The "buttons" that control temperature and the icemaker are very unresponsive and require many hits before they actually activate. They are actually some kind of touch sensor not mechanical buttons but they are very difficult to actually make work for something you use every day.

Looks great - controls don't work

Just had this fridge delivered a couple days ago. While it's a stunning looking unit, that's overshadowed by the fact that the electronic controls are an exercise in frustration at best. They work as they should MAYBE 5% of the time. Pushing the controls usually result in either no response... or an undesired result. Want to change from water to ice? You're supposed to push the ice button with a single press. Press it and nothing happens. Press it again, and you've just turned the ice function OFF. (which in only supposed to happen if you press and hold for 3 sec) Sooo ... press and hold for 3 seconds to turn the ice back on ... and nothing happens. Over and over again. If you screw with it for 5 - 10 minutes, you might get the thing to do what it's supposed to but there's no guarantee. Same thing when trying to adjust the fridge temp. Press the Fridge button to adjust the temp ... and nothing happens. Try it again and nothing. One more time ... and you've just LOCKED all the controls. (again, that's only supposed to happen if you press and hold 3 sec) It's almost as if there's some sort of delay but there's no way to know if the press actually did anything or not. The display model at the big box store next to my BestBuy works fine - whereas the display at BestBuy misbehaves just like mine does. Doesn't instill a lot of confidence in Samsung appliances. Remember the days when you bought something and it just worked? The last fridge I purchased is over 25 years old and it STILL works - was just looking to update to something a little more modern with more capacity. Haven't decided if I'll just get my money back and live with the old one, or replace it with another brand - but this one is going back.

    Disapointing Refrigerator Tempurature

Bought this model RS25J500DSR/AA in 2016. Since day 1 the freezer side only needs to be set at 2 bars for crazy COLD, But on the refrigerator side we set it at maxed 7 bars and it never gets below 40F even left overnight. When it does it never stays below 40F for long. On other hands, ice maker, freezer, water dispenser works great. Recently I had to have the broken Damper door replaced to fix the refrigerator side WARM issue. Other than the refrigerator temperature stays above 40F it is okay. No frills. I would not buy this refrigerator again.

    Beautiful LOOKING fridge

I thought I was getting the latest and greatest, a "SAMSUNG". It seems that's what everyone is buying either an appliance, TV or cell phone. Being popular doesn't mean it's good. I'm so disappointed with this fridge. I bought this a year ago. First I noticed that I never could line up the doors. They open close and seal so I went with it. Then I see the water dispenser / ice maker buttons don't light up. Just a single blue light for ice or water. They are very small and can hardly see even if you have the brightest light on in the kitchen. The water is NOT COLD! It's held in a container outside the fridge and a small stream of water will come out so slow you end up standing there for 4 times longer than my old 1995 General Electric, and it's water was ice cold. The ice maker constantly clogs up and when you open the door to try a fix it at least of bucket full of ice spills out all over the floor. The ice maker doesn't ever make whole cubes, more of a mixture of crushed ice and large chunks of cubes. But worst of all is changing the filter. My fridge fits in a tight space completely surrounded by wood cabinetry and in front of the ice maker water valve. You can't just take out the old filter and put in a new one. For me, because the doors barely line up, the best I could do was bring down the left adjuster so far the roller / wheel and the left side is a half inch above the floor and it won't just roll out until you screw that adjuster up, miss aligning the doors again, to pull the fridge out to get to the water valve THAT MUST BE TURNED OFF BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE OLD FILTER! If you don't you'll have water squirting out all over the floor until you can get the new filter in. BUT before that, after you cut off the water, you MUST drain the water tank or that will spill out all over the floor. It's NOT an easy job like the description says. When I go grocery shopping and have a lot that need to be refrigerated. You can't leave the door open longer than 30 seconds before an "open door" alarm goes off. I live 100 miles from the nearest Best Buy and hate being on the phone long. SO, I've not called for service. I live in a very remote part of the VA mountains, back in the woods so for I'm pretty sure they would even try to come. I'm living with it. BUt I miss my old GE even though the ice dispenser quit and I hate to used a hand scoop for ice. Still much faster than this SAMSUNGS ice dispenser. I had a huge 7 year water filter hanging off the back of that. I dread changing the water filter on this. I've heard other SAMSUNG horror stories.

Samsung is horrible to deal with

We purchased this freezer/fridge 18 months ago. It suddenly stopped cooling. Because the compressor has a 5 year warranty, only an authorized Samsung repair place can fix it. The earliest someone can come out is in 8 days, and then I was warned it would most likely be another 4 days until the part would come in after that. I am supposed to go 12 days without a refrigerator and freezer! Samsung is not concerned with this fact. BE AWARE THAT SAMSUNG ONLY ALLOWS THEIR CONTRACTORS TO DO WORK ON AND ORDER PARTS FOR THEIR FRIDGES/FREEZERS. I called 2 independent repairmen who could have come out immediately, but they said they are not authorized to purchase parts for Samsung appliances.

Defective Refrigerator/ Best Buy not helpful

Bought this online and had it delivered by a 3rd party contractor. Best Buy never mentioned this prior to my purchase. The fridge was delivered and hooked up then everything went bad. First off moving guys damaged my brand new cabinet getting it in and now I have to go through an insurance claim with them and not best buy, they have been unresponsive. Second the water dispenser and ice maker did not work and thirdly, a couple minutes after it was plugged in the door alarm for the refrigerator would not stop beeping. The beeping was loud and occurred around 10 beeps per 2 minute or so. As you can imagine this was so annoying the refrigerator had to be unplugged. I ended up losing out on $150 worth of groceries, couldn't go shopping for refrigerated items and had to eat out for 5 days. Best Buy was not helpful at all, they basically said too bad we will send out a new fridge in 5 days and not compensate you at all. I ordered a new fridge because I was not about to get another model like this. Beware of this refrigerator and 3rd party deliveries and bad service by Best Buy.

    Terrible refrigerator

Had this refrigerator for two days and knew I didn’t want it. Terrible ice maker because it made ice slow and the refrigerator only has one light at the top but the bottom has no light so you can’t see your food. The controls on the outside of the refrigerator didn’t have a light option so if you get water in the middle of the night you have to turn the kitchen light on.

Hi there, I see where you're coming from, and I want to give you a hand with this. This ice maker is supposed to make a batch of ice every 90 minutes until it is full. If your ice maker is not doing so, here's a link (https://bit.ly/2NEJLpr) that will help you correct this.
