Really good ref! Everything works as advertised. What a cool appliance. The touch screen is exceptional. The ref is quite and everything works as it should. Ice it great. Cannot find a bad thing about it except price. We managed a good deal through BB ($2600) which is still pretty steep. But we got what we paid for in my opinion.

Great refrigerator if you buy it on sale (Best Buy priced matched our lowest price). We had it delivered on a Friday, set up went very smoothly. When I used the power cool and freeze to cool down, it would not work. Called Samsung and they did a check, they found the sensor was not working right and scheduled a repair for the following Wednesday. Went back to Best Buy on Saturday and explained the problem. Very helpful and made an exchange and the new refrigerator was delivered at 8 am that Monday. Again set up very smooth and everything worked. Very big inside and the bottom freezer has a lot of room. I like the second cooling drawer and use it to store water and other drinks (keeps it very cold). All in all the refrigerator works very well, love the aps that come with it and we use them daily (thought they may just be a novelty, but are useful). I placed a digital thermometer and the temp was within a few degrees of what was set. The freezer keeps food frozen (ice cream is not rock hard, but very firm). Very happy with this refrigerator and with Best Buy help.

Very Happy with new refrigerator

Very happy now that we worked out the issue with it not showing the right temperature settings. Once they replaced the system board and I did a software update it has been working fine for over a week now. Really like the water dispenser better than the LG and the room we have now with the French Doors is a huge difference over our old side by side refrigerator. The extra refrig door for the kids is a plus.

Have had frig for 2 months now.....overall feelings....just an OK frig and we still use our other side-by-side frig currently
Pros
- freezer controls can be monitored from outside
- app screen is pretty neat and techie, but takes a little know how
- uploaded pics of kids to display on screen
Cons
- Weatherbug doesn't stay updated automatically, and tried changing locations
- Freezer door does not shut completely all the time and we have the alarm on door but doesn't go off unless the door is open a certain percentage
- Can't fill up freezer unless you want everything hidden under other stuff and then have to dig around for items

Highlight of the Kitchen

I was looking at the RFS4287, but I'm glad I waited for a good price on this. With a sale price and financing, it was the best deal out there. The apps are really neat and all my family uses them. The Google calendar is very helpful. Epicurius is fidgety when you press the the screen. We use Pandora a lot and it is nice when I cook. When we had guests over the fridge was a big hit.
The French door configuration is nice and we are trying to find the best spots to put things. The Flex drawer is nice for drinks. The freezer section gets real cold as my son complains the ice cream is too hard. So I have that set to the warmest temp. This is our first fridge with an ice maker and water dispenser so we love that.
The ice maker is somewhat loud but we got used to it and doesn't bother us.
I love this refrigerator.

Just bought it a few weeks ago. Found that had plenty of room in freezer but less than I thought in fridge. Don't get me wrong I LOVE this fridge but beware about tall things I had to change the shelves around to make space. I got this on sale with reward zone coupon so it came out cheaper than the one without the computer. Glad I waited for sale. Hubby and kids love the apps.

We bought our fridge a month ago. The delivery guy said the water dispenser might leak for the first gallon released but it just now stopped leaking. Other than that my teenage kids love the pandora, they play it when they are cleaning the kitchen or baking.

LOUD!!!

This refrigerator sounds like gunshots, or bombs being dropped when it makes ice. It is ridiculously loud! - Loud enough to wake up you at night! Also to change the water filter you have to turn off the water to your refrigerator. It is not convenient, or easy, for me to pull the refrigerator away from the wall and turn off the water, to change the filter. I like the french doors to the refrigerator and the snack drawer. Easy to keep food organized. The freezer is just OK. I do like the shelf you can pull out in the freezer though.

I've not had this refrigerator long, but so far I'm loving it. I've not had any of the problems I've read from others (e.g., sodas freezing in the middle drawer). Also, I really like the apps feature. I didn't think that would be something I would use much, but its wonderful to be able to click an icon while fixing breakfast to see what the weather will be for the day. Setup was easy. The stainless steel does show fingerprints, but I've found that I don't really touch the surface that much--mainly just the handles, which don't seem to show fingerprints as much. I highly recommend this refrigerator.

We have had the fridge for about a month now and are enjoying it. Although the apps are mostly just a novelty, we use weather bug and pandora frequently. We had read the reviews that said the ice maker was noisy and yes, it is. But the flexibility of the drawer and the flip up shelves inside are worth a noisy ice maker.

Wi-Fi died after 4 days

So I bought as a Christmas gift for my family we discuss buying one every year. The fridge came on sale at $1999 I was on it, got the fridge home and hooked it up the ice maker was working and the wi-fi was set up. After about 4 days it dropped my Wi-fi signal and couldn't find it again it kep showing up as N/A, I took all my phones by the fridge and they where gettin an extremely strong signal from the router. I called Best Buy and got the run around from them I didn't buy the warranty I forgot at the time of purchase and didn't want to mess up the delivery date so I could slip it in while my wife was at work. I talked to the 800 number and the first thing she asked was did I get the warranty, and promptly directed me to Samsung customer service who told me I needed to call my cable provider. I felt like I was getting the run around from all of them, I called my local store to exchange it for the step downand they wouldn't honor the price it was on sale for at the same time i bought this one. I have sinc reutrned the fridge and bought from someplace else and a different manufactuer. I had the fridge for about 15 days total and I let the ice maker build up ice and it couldn't keep up with one person I am glad to return it and will not buy another Samsung again.

GREAT fridge

We knew that we wanted a french door fridge, and reviewed several different models, ultimately deciding on this Samsung model. I lucked out by finding this fridge as a floor model and got it for $1200 less than sticker. Internet conneted very quick, and we were listening to Pandora right away. I was worried about all the reviews about the ice-maker being extremely loud. Sure, the first time or two we heard the ice drop, we thought it was loud, but now we barely notice it. And we've never run out of ice.

After a little persuading I was able to talk my wife into the LCD screen instead of the "standard" model. We bought this during the Columbus day sale and I feel like we got a great deal!
I set up a google account just for my fridge and then I shared out the calendar with both me and my wife. Basically, we have a single calendar that is always with us. If I am in the kitchen I am able to look at the screen and see what is coming up, or I can get out my android phone and check it there. I love love love the google calendar.
The other apps right now are really just eye candy. Yes it is cool being able to look up a recipe to try out, but you are not going to go back and forth to the fridge to see what you need for ingredients or the steps to make the recipe. Samsung needs, at the least, to enable emailing of information like this.
One of the main complaints is that the ice maker is loud...get over it. Another complaint is that there is not enough ice. We have not run into this at all. We are a family of 4, and we have yet to have a shortage of ice. My wife loves the flavor of the water coming from the fridge as opposed to the tap, and we all love the crushed ice.
The only other issue I have is with the wireless. The signal from my router is very weak, even though a device like my phone has a full signal strength. I am experimenting with the antennae on the back of the fridge to see if I can get better reception.

Setup was super easy and it installed an update right away. After the 4th week or so the Ice Trap Door started to act up so ice wouldn't dispense. It just keeps opening and closing so I have to reach up and hold it open so ice will dispense again. Still need to call to have it repaired. Other than that I wish we could keep the default photos from either displaying or delete them. Everything else about the Samsung we just love! Although it makes ice very quick it doesn't hold a lot of ice compared to others.

This fridge is the best!!! Food stays fresher longer, the ice dispenser is a lot less noisy than my old fridge. and the smart water dispenser is amazing, allowing you to get just the right amout of water you need. It also adds plenty of beauty to your kitchen as well. The apps are amazing and pictures of your family on the screen is so wonderful. I would definitely recommend this product to you!!!!!

Dream Fridge

I waited a long time for a really good fridge; and this is definately it - I wasn't sold on the apps and figured they were a waste of money but my family is very tech savvy and so I caved. I use the gadgets more than they do; I created a Gmail account for the fridge and then created a google calendar that the entire family has access to; no more paper! Pictures are sent to the fridge the same; everything is clean and looks great. I listen to Pandora all the time, and have used the recipe feature as well. As far as the fridge goes; only a few issues; doesn't come with an egg storage area so save the one that you have now! The center draw is great but i would prefer if they removed the moveable divider - seems to get in the way more than anything; The flexibility with the shelving in the fridge is excellent and the drawers keep veggies fresh much longer than my last fridge. After 3 months of use, I can honestly say I would recommend this to everyone that can afford it

epic disaster

This fridge has been an epic disaster. There were delivery problems but that's not the fridge's fault so I'll omit that here. Also I've realized the drawer/door design doesn't make sense to me but I'll omit that as well since that's personal preference and I should've thought it through better before purchasing.
The middle drawer was broken when I received it though. More importantly, this fridge is incredibly noisy. Maybe I just have a lemon, but it rattles and hums very loudly when starting up, and then clanks around like an old beat up car when the compressor stops. Sometimes there's a fan that makes a high pitched whining sound. I can hear the stupid thing from the second floor of my home (the fridge is, of course, on the first floor). I had a service person come out from Samsung, and he just said it was intermittent and nothing could be done. Thanks!
The touchscreen also has some mind-boggling problems. There's a slideshow feature - great for showing your pictures, right? That's one of the main reasons I wanted the screen, to have a digital picture frame type thing on my fridge. Well, it comes with a dozen or so stock photos of food on it. Great for demoing in the store, but these photos CANNOT BE DELETED. So you put your pictures of your loved ones or travel photos etc., and the thing is flipping through them, and then there's a picture of a hot dog. Seriously Samsung? Also when you use that as a screensaver, the photos don't take up the full screen. The touchscreen is also slow to respond. And when you're changing from cubed ice to crushed etc., it's certainly less convenient than just flipping a switch or pressing a real button.
I bought this as part of a full set of Samsung appliances. Everything else worked out, but this fridge is horrible. I'm past the return date (was hoping I could just make peace with it) but now I think I'll just see what I can get for it in credit and buy something else.

I have had this fridge for six months now. It is awesome. Lots of space, ice and water dispenser work great. You can easily put a large pizza in it. Love the drawer with the drink temp setting. All the features you could want, and Oh yea 18 months no financing is Great .Plus Best Buy match price One more thing. Just replaced water filter. It is so easy. Open the door and it is right there in the front between the 2 crisp drawers. I did not even have to turn the water supply off to change it. Thank you Samsung and Best Buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slick Design, Poor Performance

Here is a classic case of looks great but poor performance. As far as appliances go, you would a refrig / freezer doesn't have that much to do. Keep the food cold and make ice. This one fails on the second basic task. The ice maker is all cheap plastic and we have replaced outs 4 times plus needed a new motherboard. Thank goodness we got the service plan -- but the inconvenience of having it not working is a real hardship. The Geek Squad repair man said that the ice maker is cheap and we can expect that this will happen over and over. It is not made to withstand the repetitive motion of ice making. I could understand with an older model, but not with a new refrigerator. The design is great, but sometimes you just want a little more.

Don't get caught in the hype of the panel. It's cool, but in practical use, it doesn't do much and the sound is tinny. It needs an audio jack for your own sound speakers or sound system. However, Samsung would not accept my review. There are only two bad reviews on Samsung's website, mine was rejected. Best Buy will let it through, but Best Buy's Geek Squad is going to be slammed here, too.
After a month, the water taste was foul, very heavy in plastic taste. We thought it might be the filter. Removed it, checked, then put it back. Whoops! Wait! You can't put it back in unless you pull the refrigerator out from the wall, crawl in behind it and turn off the water to the refrigerator. It even says so in the manual!!! I called Samsung and they say this is for my safety, so that water does not leak into the fridge. Now, how in the world is my 100 pound wife supposed to move a 400 pound refrigerator, plus a hundred pounds of food and ice (oh, wait... the ice maker only makes 4 pounds of ice.. never mind)
Back to the bad taste. We ran at least 20 gallons of water through the fridge. Still taste bad. Geek squad decided the tank might be bad and scheduled a service call to replace it. Part shipped in. Geek squad dude showed up. Said we have bad water. Didn't replace tank. Wife told him he was full of you-know-what, that we had had two other refrigerators there, both still operational (one in our garage and the other at our lake house). Neither one had bad ice or water from the same city water system and neither one required the fridge to be moved out from the cabinets in order to change a filter.
As a result of Mr. Geek Squad dude's laziness and attitude, when I return from my business trip, I will be scheduling a return of these items to Best Buy. Oh, did I say items? Yes... the matching Samsung dishwasher and microwave are also coming back.
Like I said, the LCD looks cool, but it sure doesn't overcome a bad engineering design and some really bad plastic in the system. Avoid this refrigerator.
