I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My 55 inch 4k Samsung TV has an ok sound system but I wanted more punch when watching my movies so I got this version of the Samsung soundbar and couldn't be more happier. Easily compatible to my TV so I was listening to better sounding everything in like 5 mins tops. Everything about from how to set it up to running it is just to easy peezy. If your just purchasing your first soundbar this would be my first option.

I was probably annoying everyone in the store with all of the sound bars because I was blasting them all. I've bought three sound bars in the $100-250 range and they were all junk, they had a lot of echo, didn't have a good treble to bass ratio and the sub woofers would distort at half volume. This sound bar sounds nice and clear with good bass that doesn't drown out speech.

I received this Model Yesterday and looked at all the reviews. Not very encourging, I was setting up the SubWoofer The base was set at 6+ and the trebel at -4. I looked at it and both were set at 0. I called Samsung The Lady Told me i was setting it Wrong. On the Remote for the Soundbar & Woofer. She told me go to the Circle above the Subwoofer looks like a Cog Wheel. Press that button and you will see all the sound settings Press the button once and you should have the trebel across the end of the soundbar show Then go to the Big Circle ann press up and down for your setting You can plus or minus the setting. Next you will see the bass do the same thing Go to the Big Circle in the Middle of the Remote. DO NOT USE THE VOLUMNE AT THE BOTTOM LEFT, thats your your sound bar & woofer not your regular Remote for your TV On your TV set the Volume at 0 and leave it alone. Now listen to the BaseUse the Volume Button on the Soundbar remote. If you get the sound around 25 it blows you away. Alot of people may not rely about how to set up all your Sound Settings YOU canan also set it to Standard Surround Game Etc. Good Luck.

I bought this with a new TV. Wow, the sound is so dramatic, like a movie theater. You can't have a big set without great sound. It was on sale for Xmas. And because I bought it with a Samsung set, there was $50 savings. So good. Great value. The sales experience at the North Haven, CT store was excellent too. Good job Best Buy!

I bought this to replace my A/V receiver based system after my receiver finally died. It seemed to be at the sweet spot price wise for sub woofer and features so I took the chance. I read the reviews where people had stated it had poor sub woofer performance, no bass etc. Initially I had it hooked up with optical cable and besides having some audio lag on netflix, I was also wondering if it was any better than my TV speakers. Then I took the time to set it up with HDMI ARC and wow, what an improvement! No audio lag, rich and crisp sound. The sub woofer can definitely be heard now, and you have a separate control to increase the sub woofer as well. We have it set at 4 (out of possible 6) and it sounds great! My only issue is that it doesn't seem to get super loud. Granted its a sound bar so that may be a limitation of its size. Overall I'm very pleased with this sound bar, but would recommend using HDMI ARC for much better sound over optical. I will also list instructions here given to me by the Samsung tech support on how to properly set up the HDMI ARC: Run HDMI out from Cable / Satellite box to HDMI 1 in on TV (or whichever one the TV designates as cable/sat box) Run HDMI out from Blu-ray player to HDMI 2 in on TV Run HDMI out from any 3rd device to HDMI 3 in on TV Run HDMI 4 (ARC) from TV to HDMI (ARC) on soundbar In TV sound settings, Home >> Settings >> Sound >> Sound Output >> HDMI. On the soundbar, change input to D.IN. That should do it! Also, if you have a Samsung TV, turn on ANYNET+ in the settings to allow your other remotes to control volume on the soundbar. You are welcome! :)

This sound bar sounds great with my Samsung TV. It is easy to set up and the sound quality is crisp. The sub woofer that comes with it provides movie theater quality sound. Only qualm is that the wireless sub goes in and out, but after research it turned out that the wifi modem needed to be moved and the problem was fixed.

Excellent Sound Bar. Excellent Subwoofer! I originally purchased an Insignia Sound Bar from Best Buy. That purchase was in impulse purchase in response to a Best Buy Flash Sale. The sound quality of the Insignia was anemic, and I returned that sound bar and purchased this one. What a difference! This Samsung soundbar was listed at $399 but Best Buy was selling a discontinued floor model for $149. The sound is incredible, and the subwoofer is fantastic. A number of reviews for this soundbar are critical of the subwoofer and the quality of the bass, but as one reviewer pointed out, a soundbar has a specific purpose. This unit is not intended to replace a high end home audio system, nor is it intended to boom and thump like a car stereo system - it is intended to enhance the listening experience associated with moves and TV shows. This soundbar excels at that. The center channel does a great job with speech, while the overall sound is far superior to the native speakers of the TV. After I hooked up the system to the TV, I spent a half hour listening to Pentatonix Christmas songs - and the bass was incredibly satisfying. I would purchase this item again (at the discontinued floor model price!)

Easy to set up! Great sound. The subwoofer is a little weak but not too bad!! I had purchased another sound bar but it wasn't available for me. I was a little upset with that. The store manager supplied me with this particular model and set me up very nicely!! That's how you do business. Very impressed with this store!! Will buy all of my high end electronics here!!!

I bought this soundbar to replace an older Yamaha I had. The Samsung is louder, clearer sounding, and takes less space. The wireless sub is an awesome bonus. I didn't have to do anything to pair it. It paired automatically when I turned it on. Gives this unit a big room filling sound. Movies and sports sound great. Would recommend.

I have reviewed this before with a 3 start but this time I'm going to recommend the product (specially if you could get it at a deeply discounted price that was available around Thanksgiving). The sound quality of the sound bar is great, I wish if Samsung could release an update to improve the bass without affecting anything else. The sub woofer just doesn't have the thumping. If you are looking for the pounding bass this is not for you but other than the sounds quality is really good.

Got this product open box for only 180. Great deal considering MSRP is 399.99. I think I'd be happy with paying up to 250 dollars for it. Great sound quality for the price if you want better your going to have to go into the 5.1 channel category which the cheapest I have seen those new is 400 or 500 for the good ones at least

It was an easy install. I simply set the bar at the foot of the TV, and the subwoofer on the floor nearby. It easily connected to the TV via the TV's HDMI OUT TV-ARC output. With this connection the sound bar comes on automatically when the TV is on, and the volume can be controlled with the TV controller. The unit provides clear treble, making it easier for my old ears to follow dialog in movies. The subwoofer connection is wireless, and set up was easy. The bass tends to be somewhat overwhelming. I tend to turn it down.

The soundbar was easy to set up. I basically took it out of the box and hooked it up according to the instructions. There were several ways to hook it up to the tv . There was an automatic connection between the Subwoofer and the Soundbar. I connected the soundbar to the TV with a HDMI cable thru the TV ARC. This enabled me to use my satellite remote to control the tv and the volume of the soundbar. The sound is clear at all levels but it seems like I need to have the volume up high in order to understand what is being said. At the higher levels of volume the bass is overpowering the voices. This is not an ideal situation when you are watching regular tv shows. It is great for movies but not regular tv. The soundbar sounded great in the store but not as great at home. I think it is still a worthwhile investment.

      Dixielee24:

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-R650 Soundbar. I'm glad to see that setup was easy and that overall sound is clear.

To resolve action scenes over-powering the dialogue, try using Dynamic Range Control (DRC). With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced.
      1) Turn off your Soundbar.
      2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display.
      3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.

You can try also optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or SMART.

We usually go for the Bose systems, but this is better for our basement setup. It’s wireless and so easy to setup. Sounds fantastic with Movies or music. So easy to hook devices up and listen at any time even if you don’t watch tv. It’s our whole sound system in our new basement. No need for a big receiver setup.

The Samsung QLED Q60 65" TV onboard sound system is a bit anemic so I added the R650 sound bar. It will crank up to awesome listening levels. Love the Bluetooth connectivity but the TV doesnt always remember it. So it often requires Bluetooth re-pairing on initial startup. A minor inconvenience.

I would definitely recommend picking up this sound system. It’s easy to setup, has great audio quality, and looks aesthetically clean too. The bass on the subwoofer isn’t extreme but I think it has just enough of a punch for most people. You could max out the volume on this sound bar and it will still sound nice and crisp.

There is not much of a setup required. Plug the power cable and designated cables and your are done. Connecting to Bluetooth device is super easy and fast. Sound quality is very good. Not out of this world sound quality. But its greatly better than the speakers on TV. Does makes a big difference.
