Unbelievable sound!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar makes movies and everyday tv (news and sports games) sound amazing! The subwoofer sound exceeded my expectations, and this pairs great with our Samsung 55inch smart tv. The only regret is listening to tv sound only for three years. I can't believe we waited this long, but the sound is simply amazing! I do not write reviews often, but I made a point to log in to add a review for this soundbar. You will NOT be disappointed!

Good buy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially purchased the 450 Because of the demonstration at the store. When I got home hooked everything up was not happy in the difference from store demonstration to what it put out on my TV. Took it back the next day exchanged it for the 550. The 550 gave me exactly what I was looking for. This is a good sound bar.Bluetooth sounds great on it. Was very happy with the output from the 550. This was my 1st Samsung sound bar and I'm very happy with it. The sub puts out what it should keep in mind it's only + - 6 on volume.

Great Looks and Poor Audio Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cons: Disappointment is an understatement to describe the audio quality of this soundbar. Why? Bass - barely there. There is no deep rumble or extensions. The front facing subwoofers are a joke for the most part (any brand). The woofer is very directional and changes in bass output based on where you place it in your room. Treble - Sharp, but did not increase clarity as much as I expected; even at maximum setting. Mid/Vocals - Whats vocals? It's audible to some extent. To explain, the voice/vocal range from your TV will sound like it is coming through a tunnel. Three is no separate voice enhancing feature or Midrange boosting option on the settings. Overall volume of this unit is dismal. I have to crank up the volume in my tiny apartment to hear details in sound. However this is not ideal as it could be too loud during certain parts of the movies. Pros: Design is terrific. Remote is much better than other sounders that I have tried. In summary, the sound lacks emotion. Is it an upgrade from your TV's built in speaker? Yes. However for the asking price, this set does not deliver a worthy sound signature.I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Thank you for purchasing this Samsung HW-N550 Soundbar System. I am sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with its low volume.
Please check the connection between the Soundbar and other source devices, and try the following tips that may help improve the volume level.
1. Check the source volume. For example, if connected to a mobile phone using Bluetooth, increase the volume on the mobile phone.
2. If the Soundbar is connected to a TV thru HDMI, make sure to use the HDMI-ARC jack on the TV and select “External speakers” as the TV sound output.
3. Then check the TV for the audio output format sent to the Soundbar. Typical options are PCM, Dolby Digital, and Bitstream. Select the option that optimizes the sound from your source.
4. Change the SOUND MODE on the Soundbar by using the Soundbar’s remote. Select the appropriate mode for the individual room acoustics.
5. Turn on Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holding the SOUND MODE button on the remote control while the Soundbar is in standby mode.
I hope these tips help to enhance your audio enjoyment.

Exceeding Expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this looking for a replacement for an old home theater system. Bang for the buck, this is AWESOME. This is not a LOUD system, but clean, crisp, & never distorted sound. Little sub sounds good after 1 week break-in period. Minimal wiring needed. Easy setup. Bluetooth works well streaming from my phone. Voices are clear during movies. Some adjustments are available to fine tune. Samsung Care was great at helping me when i called. Don't expect a soundbar to be a full fledged theater system. But it is just perfect for the price!!

Great for bedroom or livingroom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome is all I have to say. Bass is really good. I placed it in between side of couch and wall, making for an even deeper bass. Wish I could control rear speaker volume, this making it 4 stars

Poor choice, explore other options.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a BIG fan of Samsung, I have been purchasing their TVs and sound bar for years. I bought this to go with my new Samsung TV (NU8000 65”). My previous Samsung sound bar was dated and a bit banged up from a recent relocation, so I figured new TV, new sound bar. It’s been less than 8 weeks since I purchased the sound bar, the sound is no longer audible below a volume setting of 50, the subwoofer doesn’t work (even though according to light on the back its connected) and the general sound clarity is horrible, harsh, metallic, and sometimes so low even a volume setting of 50 isn’t high enough to hear dialogue. I have the issue across all devices, gaming (Xbox 1 and PS4), movies and AT&T Uverse cable. Presently it is connected via HDMI ARC, I have tried Bluetooth and digital optical and it has made no difference. Called Samsung customer service and they had me reset it, didn’t do a thing. They told me to return it to Best Buy who won’t take it back for an exchange as it’s been 8 weeks. So now I have to mail it off to Samsung to be repaired with an estimated two week turnaround time (not including shipping). They are paying for the shipping label but I have to find a box for it, odds are it’ll be a custom box through UPS as the dimensions of the sound bar aren’t exactly easy to fit in most standard sized boxes. My advice: for this price range look at other brands. I suggest using CNET or another tech site to research a better quality sound bar than this. Beware the floor model, It sounds excellent. When you get it home it will be noticeably different. Definitely return it to Best Buy within a day or two if it doesn’t sound right. Easiest way to tell is compare it to the TV’s speakers. If the TV sounds much better, that’s a red flag.

Don't believe the in store sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar sounded great in the store, but once I got it home, the bottom end was nowhere to be found. I went through all the setting and to get any volume out of it you must crank the volume up all the way. The in store demos are locked so there are no way to tell how they have it set up but I'm sure they are running some pre-amp setup before the soundbar to give it a great sound in the store.

Sounds great... while it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the hw-n550 from best buy earlier this week. When I first got the unit hooked up to my tv, a new phillips 6000 series, the sound bar and sub woofer worked fine. I had also purchased the add-on surround speakers from best buy. They too worked fine... for a moment. Soon the sound bar and speakers would cut out for 3 seconds, then resume sound for about 5 seconds, and repeat. This was constant between the cable box and dvd, so it wasn't a source issue. I tried restarting the unit, to no avail. I changed out the hdmi cable to see if it was faulty, but the issue persisted. I called tech support, and they suggested disconnecting the power supply to the sound bar for a hard restart. The sound fired back up, so I figured it was an initial pairing issue and that would be that. Well, it was but only for two days. Today the issue of cutting in and out returned. I called tech support and we tried various things none of which corrected the problem. Eventually they said I could ship the sound bar to them for repairs, or I could return it to the store as I had just purchased the system. So I returned the sound bar and sub woofer to Best Buy and exchanged it for another one. I hooked the new unit up as per the included instructions and it worked fine... until I paired it with the rear speakers. The instant the blue led light changed from blinking (pairing) to solid (paired), the cutting in and out returned. I again went through and physically disconnected the power supply on all components, and reconnected them according to the manual. This did not fix the problem. In fact after a couple of reconnects, the entire system cut out indefinitely. At this point I again call tech support, we again try various things, none of which work. They then suggest to connect the tv to the sound bar with an optical cable, and voila, the entire system fires back up. However, I'm now in the position of 1) not knowing if the hdmi sound inputs will work at all with other devices that lack an optical out 2) not knowing if the cutting in and out will return, as it had previously 3) having to send off components for repair if I want an answer to the first question. As there is limited time to return all components to Best Buy, I am looking at returning everything now as it doesn't work as advertised or keeping it and hope the issue doesn't come back down the road. I think I'll go with the first one...

Bar Sounds OK, Bass Poor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this along with the additional rear speakers. The setup was a breeze. The bar sounds OK- not as good as in the store. The subwoofer is worthless. It basically doesn't seem to do anything. It is connected and I can hear small amounts of sound from it, but it doesn't add anything to the experience and you certainly wouldn't know the difference in a movie if you unplugged it. I've tried changing every setting I could find, used different connection methods, etc. This is a very strong downgrade from my previous Samsung surround sound/blu ray unit. I'm considering just returning everything and getting a $100 cheapo special. Certainly not worth the $500 price tag. So disappointed with how this lacks bass for the price. :(

Can't change volume; can't control from TV remot3e
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Samsung SUHD TV and I replaced my old Vizio soundbar with this one thinking I was going to be able to change the volume of the soundbar via my TV remote. Not only I CAN"T do this, the included remote of the soundbar does NOT change the volume at all, it just mutes and unmutes. The remote is so poorly designed it does not even include VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN dedicated buttons, it just has ONE button called "VOL". I am taking this soundbar back to the store and when my TV is due for replacement I will NOT be getting a Samsung again.

AUDIO WILL NOT SYNC WITH TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just purchased this soundbar today and I am extremely disappointed. The soundbar will not sync with the TV. I am using a Samsung 4k smart TV. Everything I do on the TV the audio is very off. I have tried everything between the different ways to connect the speaker and audio delay/sync settings. The problem seems to be that the audio is too slow for the video. The only settings on the TV and soundbar are to delay the audio further but, the sound needs to catch up to the video, not be delayed more. It is extremely delayed even with all delays set to 0. The sound quality and volume is great but, the sound delay makes watching anything unbearable with how off the sound is compared to people talking or actions happening. Very disappointed and I hope someone from Samsung can enlighten me on a solution.

When it comes to this sound bar Samsung I’m not going to lie I’m pretty disappointed it’s not what i thought a $400 sound bar would sound like it’s not as loud as it should be for a 3.1 sound bar and the cleanerty is okay but not that best!
