This cooktop has been a nightmare. Purchased new October 2021. Installed in December (when Kitchen remodel was finished). It never worked. Calls to Samsung to honor the warranty were a nightmare of computer menus and repeating the same story to multiple people. First service came on Feb 3. Samsung had sent only two pieces instead of four. Repair unsuccesful. Second service (different person) on Feb 10. Samsung had sent two more pieces (instead of 3, because apparently five needed to be replaced) and one was for a refrigerator !!! Replaced the one, cooktop still did not work. Repairman said cooktop was not fixable and was going to put it in his notes. Samsung still wanted a third tech visit. Then started the nightmare of calls between Samsung and the Tech company. On Feb 15 Samsung finally agreed to refund or replace, but I was told it would have to be done through BestBuy where I bought it. On Feb 16, received an email confirming the "in store exchange". One full week later and I still do not have a functioning cooktop. Just hanged up with Samsung who is telling me I have to contact BestBuy.... Infuriating does not begin to describe this experience.

Everything about this cooktop is great...except the controls.
When we purchased this, we read the reviews and saw that the controls were finicky, and hard to adjust. We decided we could live with that. What no one seemed to put in their reviews was that the touch control buttons/adjustment dials are capacitive, and will register the various splatters which occur during cooking. They will register when you set down a pot on the VERY prominent control area. They will register when you try to wipe the stove with a damp cloth. They will even register when you set down a loaf of bread in a plastic bag. What happens then is that the cooktop turns off.
Vigorously boiling a pot of pasta? Not anymore! Simmering that sauce? Sorry, the condensation from the lid being askew to vent it dripped and now everything turned off! This works for water OR oils! You can't fry a pork chop without it turning off AT LEAST once, if not more often.
If it's already off, it registers the ongoing contact as a button error and beeps constantly at you. "Turn on the child lock feature," you say? "That will block the button presses!" No, it won't. The lock will be on, but the beeping will start and the cooktop will shut down.
I cannot advise against this product enough.
However, in the interest of fairness, I will say that I love the induction cooktop. The only problem there is that some pots may not have quite enough size to properly register on the sensor and turn on two of the flex cook sections, or a smaller pot might be difficult to place just right to start the smaller burner.
Beyond those issues, the cooktop functions well. Installation was a breeze, cooking is consistent. You need to learn your cook settings, of course. That's true of any stove or cooktop.
The "virtual flame" function is nifty, if nothing more than aesthetic. Personally, I think they should have run the lights all the way around the burners, and made them flicker a bit. But that's just my opinion and it's totally outside the actual function of the appliance. Plus it would have cost another dollar or two to manufacture.
The WiFi function is a bit of a joke. I set it up, realized it was useless and uninstalled the app. It appears the only functions are to offer a timer and tell you if the stove is on or off. I can't, however, remove it from my network, as there seems to be no way to erase the settings.
Regardless of how well it cooks or looks, though, the controls negate (and outweigh) any positive opinions I might hold. Do not buy this cooktop. You have been warned.

Brand response from Samsung

Hi AntJenkins,
Thank you for your review. I completely see your point about the control panel's sensitivity to liquid boilovers.

very happy with range overall. Manual has conflicting info about power requirements. Makes some annoying buzzing noise with lower quality induction cookware. Not good to use a cast iron skillet with higher settings- gets too hot and I'm worried about damaging the range

Our unit stopped working on Christmas Eve after we had it for less than 2 months. Best Buy only allows 15 days for returns on major appliances, which is absurd. They obviously have no care if they sell poorly manufactured products. Samsung warranty is a joke. The repair person calls tech support and is told what parts to order. We have to wait for appointments to be scheduled after parts come in. This is before they will even come to troubleshoot the issue. So, of course, the parts they bring dont fix the issue, so we get to wait for the cycle to start over again. At this point, they have rebuilt the entire range, and it still isn't working. So you would think Samsung would suck it up and replace it. NOPE. They want to reorder every part and have us wait for another appointment and another technician to rebuild the entire range again. So 2 weeks with no working stove in the house after spending 2 grand. Save yourself the trouble and purchase from a store with a reasonable return policy, don't purchase from Samsung. It looks like we will have to get a lawyer to get a replacement or refund. It's not worth the hassel.

Great for boiling large pots of water for pasta, crabs and lobsters. Pans hot almost instantly so cooking takes less time. Fried eggs are ready by time the toast is. Low heat easier than electric to keep things warm.

This is a really good, and beautiful induction cooktop. The faux flames are a nice touch. It's easy to use and really easy to clean. But I did have to buy all new pots and pans that work with induction as none of mine (save one pot) would work. And I would have prefered that the controls were to the side and not right in the middle at the front, but I'm getting used to it. I've found that I don't (and shouldn't) cook at really high temperatures - it's not really needed either.

This cooktop is just beautiful. The powerboost is amazing for boiling water quickly. A flaw i have found is if anything (including a drop of water) is on the controls on the cooktop is does all kinds of weird things (makes noises, shuts off, etc) This is not terribly convenient if you are using multiple burners at the same time.

Love this cooktop! Looks great, love the blue lights. Heats up fast and cooks evenly. Recommended to people that like electric stove tops.

This is the second of these cooktops we’ve bought. Bought one, moved house then did a bunch of research and decided to buy the same one again. It’s great. Buy it.
Also … induction cooking is far better than gas, plus a gas cooktop is as bad as having a smoker in the house in terms of benzine and NOx pollution
