The Samsung Odyssey G8 is undeniably a strong gaming monitor, boasting 4K UHD resolution, a smooth 240Hz refresh rate, and vibrant QD-OLED visuals. The deep blacks and crisp whites make for an impressive viewing experience. That said, it’s pretty straightforward—it gets the job done without offering much beyond its core specs. One small gripe I have is with the power cable; it just doesn’t seem to plug in all the way, even when fully secured. Weird, right?

PROS: - Unboxing this, I was immediately impressed with how thin the monitor is. Of course, with it being OLED you would expect that but it’s really impressive! - The monitor is super easy to set up but you can use the arm mount that is included or mount it to a third party bracket. - Once hooked up to your computer, I was amazed at the picture quality. It has a no glare screen with 4K OLED clarity. You can easily see every color that pops and the blacks are deep! Samsung also included OLED safeguard technology to help with burn in which means you can have this monitor a long time. - The 240Hz refresh rate on the screen is the true game changer as it makes everything super smooth but along with making sure you have a competitive advantage when online gaming! - Another super cool feature is its back of the panel lighting system. It syncs with your screen to project what you are doing on the screen onto your backdrop and it really adds some incredible pop! CONS: - I do wish this has a Thunderbolt / USB-C connector plugin. BOTTOM LINE: - Samsung really delivered with their new Odyssey OLED G8. It’s a massive screen with incredible 4K OLED picture quality. It’s smooth and fast, and makes it a joy to use for gaming, content creation, or even work. This monitor can do it all and looks super sleek while doing so!

A bit of forewarning, the Samsung G8 Odyssey G81SF comes in two sizes. The model reviewed here is for the 32 inch model. The Odyssey line of monitors are part of their gaming category of displays. And while they are marketed so, it can be used for outside of gaming. Unboxing the monitor is straightforward. The stand comes in two pieces and connects securely to ensure stability. The power supply is not built into the monitor and is provided by a power brick. The power cable is also right-angled and doesn’t take up any room and can be used on most common 6-outlet strips. Connecting the power to the monitor is a barrel connector. However, it appears strange seeing a little bit of that barrel connector exposed despite it being fully seated in. Driving the display for my test run is an ASUS ROG Zephyrus laptop running on a RTX 4090. I used the included HDMI cable to connect the two together. After getting into Windows, setting the G81SF as the primary display, and maxing out the resolution, I started running a few tests. With a refresh rate of 240Hz, I went to the well-known UFO Test to check the display’s refresh rate capability. It turns out the monitor isn’t able to reach that 240Hz refresh rate. There are random times that it can hit it. But it is having trouble keeping up. Whether this is due to the cable, the laptop GPU, or something else entirely is unknown. However, at 240Hz, the refresh rate is overkill for me personally. I feel that the highest I need would be 120Hz. Still, the high refresh rate means that the experience will be smooth. For media, I went to YouTube to view a video in 4K/UHD. The image is sharp and crisp while colors are vibrant. Compared to viewing a 1080p video, it felt like night and day. After a quick viewing, I fired up a game of Guild Wars 2 for a quick run through a few scenes. Like before, the images are sharp and the framerate is smooth. While it isn’t the best test setup and game to gauge how well the monitor performs, it handles every frame the laptop is capable of rendering. A drawback to this monitor is the lack of built-in speakers. But most people probably will use a different audio output for that task. It’s a minor inconvenience but not a dealbreaker. Overall, it’s a great display that’s great for gaming and for productivity. Yet while its colors are great because of OLED, the constant haunting of “burn-in,” AKA “image retention,” that is inherent of OLED panels will lurk in the back of your mind. Consistent care is necessary to avoid that. Now, is it worth the asking price? If you absolutely want OLED, then sure this is a good buy. But if OLED isn’t your thing and you can live without the vibrant colors, there are options that can cost less than half the asking price. Verdict: if you need OLED, buy it. Otherwise, skip. The Good: 4K/UHD at 32 inch is the sweet spot for pixel density, OLED’s vibrant colors, has VESA mount The Bad: no built-in speakers, fear of image “burn-in” due to OLED The Ugly: the thought of image retention of your Windows taskbar after using it for too long

I currently own a Samsung 77" OLED TV and couldn’t wait to get my hands on and test this new powerhouse of a monitor with my game play. The 32-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G81SF is a stunning 4K QD-OLED gaming monitor. Its 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time make it perfect for immersive gaming, with incredible features like HDR and a glare-free coating. The lack of built-in audio is truly my only real gripe. Pros: Vivid Visuals: The 4K QD-OLED screen delivers vibrant colors and true blacks, with 99% DCI-P3 coverage. The 1000-nit HDR makes everything look cinematic, rivaling my 77" OLED TV. Silky Smooth: The 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro keep gameplay seamless, with no tearing. Glare-Free Win: The anti-glare coating cuts reflections by 54%, so my bright room doesn’t dull the screen. Burn-In Protection: The quiet cooling system prevents burn-in, letting me game for hours without worry. Sharp Design: The slim metal build and adjustable stand look sleek and fit my desk perfectly. Cons: No Speakers: It lacks audio and smart TV features, so I need external speakers. My Experience: Playing Cyberpunk 2077 (Path-Traced Edition) on this 32-inch monitor is mind-blowing, bringing the same OLED magic I love from my 77" Samsung TV to my gaming setup. Night City’s neon-lit Corpo Plaza, with its shimmering ray-traced reflections on glass skyscrapers, pops with the QD-OLED’s bold colors and HDR. The 4K resolution makes details like the intricate patterns on V’s samurai jacket or sparks from a katana clash stand out super sharp. My room’s bright, but the glare-free coating keeps the visuals pristine. The 240Hz refresh rate makes fast-paced action, like dodging bullets in a gang shootout, feel effortless, with no lag or blur. The cooling system lets me play for hours without burn-in concerns, crucial for a game with a static HUD. I absolutely Love the 240Hz refresh rate! How It Helped My Game Play: This monitor transformed Cyberpunk 2077 for me. During the “The Heist” mission, the 32-inch screen made sneaking through Konpeki Plaza so immersive, with every neon glow feeling alive, just like on my Samsung OLED TV. The 240Hz and fast response time sharpened my reflexes, letting me land precise headshots on Arasaka guards in tense firefights, similar to how my mousepad boosts my PUBG aim. The 4K clarity helped me spot hidden eddies or enemies in dark alleys, making looting and combat more efficient. You need a strong GPU to max out 4K, and my setup handles it well, but a weaker system might not keep up. Worth It?: The G81SF is a must for Cyberpunk 2077 if you’ve got a powerful PC. The visuals, smoothness, and glare-free screen are phenomenal, matching the OLED quality I love from my 77" TV. The lack of speakers and annoying setup aren’t dealbreakers, but they’re noticeable. If you’re into immersive gaming, this monitor’s a total game-changer. If you need built-in audio, you might want to look elsewhere. I will add that streaming movies on Netflix with this beast of a monitor is just another bonus.

Monitor reviews are one of my favorite things to do, but it's terribly difficult to put it into words or pictures. So let's get some key points out there first... 1. I have been using a 4K 240Hz WOLED panel from a name brand manufacturer for one year, daily, on my gaming PC. 2. I have utilized one of Samsung's newest QD-OLED TV for 2025 in my living room in the past 3 months. And let me say - Samsung has outdone themselves with this panel. My complaints are few, we'll address them at the end, but I'll review the standout features to me. True HDR400 Certification. It shows. The HDR contrast, the brightest peak that this panel can reach, is stunning, and while it isn't blinding, it is absolutely more than what the average person needs in a well lit room to enjoy HDR to a desirable level - especially with a quantum-dot OLED panel. To briefly give everyone the breakdown of QD-OLED vs. WOLED - since I'm looking at both of them as I type this review - WOLED is very blue and almost dark when aligned next to a QD-OLED. A WOLED panel looks great next to an LCD panel and blows its colors out of the water. Jumping from WOLED to QD-OLED gives that same dramatic improvement because of the quantum dot layer in the panel, which supercharges the color and brightness output of each individually-lit pixel. The gaming features are solid. Everything is here. There is VRR support, AMD Freesync support, you can force your Nvidia GPU to enable G-Sync on this panel if you would like as well. There's also the classic "Virtual aim point" assistant, which helps in your usual FPS games. The panel itself is 4K 240hz, so it's everything you could want from a modern monitor for gaming - or even just absorbing content, in all honesty. Everything - and I mean everything - looks better with this panel. A word of advice for Windows users - Be sure to enable HDR for this display and then spend the time to calibrate it. I took a good hour to calibrate mine before I was happy with how content looked across Windows, video games, webpages, etc. You can calibrate HDR for color accuracy, or to your liking, but be sure to do this step! It does matter! And it will make you appreciate the quality that Samsung has put into this panel. It is gorgeous to look at. Everything about it is stunning. Including... The silver bezel... I do not see any reason for having a silver bezel on a monitor. It distracts from the black borders of the display, making seamless gaps suddenly have... seams. This is where the photos come in - please feel free to check out the photos attached to this review. It is not a big deal because this QD-OLED panel, by itself, is very distracting and will hold your attention. However, when you're doing work between multiple monitors, back and forth? You may find the silver bezel annoying. Beyond that single downside, I do believe this is the best panel currently available for gamers. The quality of color and image with QD-OLED, in my experience, is unsurpassed, and Samsung has knocked it out of the park with this one.

I saw a G6 in my local Best Buy it looked so good compared to everything else, including all the LG and ROG products. I watched dozens of YouTube reviews on everything and ultimately purchased this G8 to play Arc Raiders at first I wasn’t 100% happy but after watching videos and adjusting the picture qualities and learning all the settings I found exactly what I was looking for and you would not believe me if I told you this display’s pure cinema when I’m playing that game compared to my old rog strix that wasn’t an OLED it’s just jaw dropping I love it everyday.

I’ve been extremely impressed with the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8. The OLED picture quality is the first thing that stands out, the colors are vibrant, blacks are truly deep, and games look incredibly sharp in 4K. The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time also make everything feel extremely smooth and responsive. I played on a tv for so long and it looks just as clear if not clearer than my Sony Bravia I primarily use this monitor for gaming on PS5, and it has been a fantastic experience. The 32-inch screen is a great size because it gives you plenty of screen real estate without feeling overwhelming at a desk. HDR content looks especially impressive, and the contrast of the OLED panel makes darker games look much more immersive. I also really like the overall design. The monitor looks premium on the desk, and the silver finish gives it a different look from the typical all-black gaming monitor. The glare-free screen is another nice touch, especially with lighting in the room. Overall, this monitor feels like a significant step up from a traditional LED gaming monitor. Between the 4K resolution, OLED contrast, fast response time, high refresh rate, and excellent gaming performance, it has made my PS5 setup feel much more premium. First time using a monitor and I love it.

Has to be one of the best monitors that I have ever used. As the first sentence implied this monitor being OLED is very nice and the anti-glare coating just makes it so much better. I have not enjoyed a monitor this much since I built my first computer many years ago.

I’ve been using the monitor since I built my PC back in August no issues with the with the 5070 definitely recommend. Picked up a second one on sale for a second monitor use. My only cork is I wish they had it curved.

It has been 3 weeks since and I liked the quality from the very beginning, materials is quote good and the fact that is qd-oled which is even better for vibrant colors. Through the customization you can get to your perfect settings for your use, and menu is easy to use. I have played games and streamed films and shows, and even used for daily work and with the correct settings it suites for everything. It does not reflect lights or anything like that so you can be comfortable with that. Two critiques are that there is no type-c port not even one, considering this monitor came out in 2025 I believe type-c must be standard, and another thing is with brightness, as a MacBook user I felt the absence of high nits whenever I worked for anything during the day. And again this is a gaming monitor but you may also expect that something you pay this much could be a little better for daily use, with the correct settings you can overcome that a little bit. Also don't forget to pixel refresh every once in a while to prevent burn-ins. Overall the colors, the frames and everything is solid and I am satisfied with my purchase.

This one are so amazing qualities gray easy to assemble no problems no built-in speakers, which is OK cause I didn’t specify that. Other than that amazing monitor.

Was looking to upgrade to a 4k oled gaming monitor and ended up with this one. Do not regret at all. It’s super nice and clean. The best monitor I’ve ever had.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED is gorgeous colors pop, blacks are deep, and gaming feels buttery smooth at 240Hz. The curve makes it super immersive, and the design looks premium. Needed a little tweaking out of the box, but overall it’s an awesome monitor.

I recently upgraded my main monitor to this one and i could not be more happy. Never really used anything oled before and this was amazing the first time using it. Got it about $500 off the original price which i think makes this purchase a little more worth it but overall i am happy with the product
