I notice that the quality goes up and down depending on the app you use for movies. And when you connect wirelessly the internet sometimes goes out. The picture quality could be improved but i like that it is energy star efficient.

I don'the like the remote. Too many steps for the sleep feature. My old one was better. After I bought the price went down. I don't like that.

    Samsung makes quality television sets

I bought the Samsung UHDTV the week before Black Friday because through Best Buy it was far and away the best deal for a quality television. I wanted to replace a smaller 32" HDTV that was in our bedroom and only had enough space for a 40 or 43" TV. When I saw this model was on sale I went to the store and purchased it that day. I wanted a Samsung because of their quality and they are the only smart TV with HBO to go. I have to get my 'Game of Thrones' fix. The interface for the apps has changed since I bought my old 32" Samsung but they are intuitive to use and to set up. I was also able to connect to my Wi-Fi with no issues. I had purchased a new Samsung sound bar the week before so I hooked that up using the light hook up. The picture is stunning. The blacks are blacker than my old TV and the colors pop. I do not have anything that broadcasts in UHDTV so I cannot comment on the differences between that picture and the one I am getting through my 1080p programming. The 120 HZ rate seems to refresh easily enough that there has been no blurring watching football or hockey. The remote is easy to use but I programed my Direct TV remote to do all the basic functions. I would not hesitate to purchase this TV again. The only complaint I have is with Samsung themselves in their collection of data and their ability to listen in on your life. There is no way to opt out of this during the initial set-up. I have nothing to hide but I do not like how obtrusive these companies are becoming. Just be aware of this when you buy any Samsung TV.

I purchased this Tv for my son's Bday:) Setup was easy and then I called Directv to do the 4K signal to the Tv. The picture is AMAZING. I'm eventually switching all my tv's to 4k's even though they only offer a few movies for it now, the technology is coming. This Tv is light weight and even makes regular HD look AMAZING. I must have watched The Hobbit 3 times over already on this set. you have to see it to believe it!!

    TV Screen had a crack

Bought my 65inch Samsung TV and got this 40inch Samsung for free. I thought it was a great bargain, however; when I took the TV out of the box and it had a crack on the screen. I took it to Best Buy for a refund and they couldn't do anything about it. They stated "The crack was done by me NOT Best Buy". So now I am stuck with a broken TV. You would think that Best Buy will help their Elite Plus members. I usually spend about 4k-5k a year, but now I will definitely start taking my business elsewhere. Thank you Best Buy.

Wifi doesn't pick up at all. My router is 10 ft away and it still drops it consistently. Not so pleased with that because that was one of the reasons I bought a "smart" tv.

Great TV purchased for wife's private room. All UHD TV's have great pictures so this wasn't a concern. We were looking for a 'Cord Free' TV and the Smart TV features, coupled with Apple TV, provide 85% of our TV viewing capabilities. Noticeably, Samsung has made considerable upgrades to their Smart TV functions making this one the easiest of 3 to use. The TV does need supplemental audio as there is a lack of low end and bass from the TV speakers. The Radiant connected via bluetooth is a great companion.

First TV was shipped and did not work out of the box. Exchanged it at the local Best Buy with great service and a deeper discount. Wasn't expecting to be surprised, but WOW the TV was fantastic...Great true blacks, easy set up, and great vivid crisp colors. We mounted it the next day and very pleased with the TV...Samsung does a great job innovating at a reasonable price !

Amazing picture but what happened to Allshare play

First off this tv has a great picture. I'm quite blown away by how well the upscalling software works. From my old snes to my Xbox 360 games just look awesome. When watching 1080p content the upscale again does well in normal motion but only being a 60hz set there tends to cause some blurring during fast motion. There is a motion plus setting but like most tvs watching normal content to me just looks off. Steaming is a breeze with the apps built in just hoping more more streaming 4k content in the future. That's really were this tv shines is when you play native 4k content there is much less judder and to my eye is as good as the more expensive models. My biggest gripe about the tv is that Samsung did away with the watch on and Allshare play apps for android which worked as a remote for the TV. There are other apps that simulate a remote but none were as in depth as those apps. Also the TV supports Bluetooth audio to Samsung devices but not to standard Bluetooth headphones. Not a huge deal as Bluetooth transmitter can found cheap on Amazon but if you wanted to use wireless headphones with the TV it's good to know Bottom line if your in the market for a 40 inch tv defiantly give this one a good look. You will be far from disappointed.

This is my third 4K tv i've purchased from Bestbuy. The others are a Sharp and Vizio. This has the best picture out of the three. Plenty of HDMI ports, three USB and at least one of them is a USB 3.0 designed for a HDD. Which is great if you download any 4k movies. Great sound, good apps, I purchased it for my office. I wish I had more room to get a larger one.

Great television. Picture is clear and vibrant and blacks are nice a deep. Four hdmi ports is very useful. Having it be a smart tv means hbo go and netflix are ready to use instantly. Having it be 4k is just an added bonus.

Bought this recently to replace my 42 inch sharp led because I couldn't stand the input lag. This tv blows the sharp I had out of the water. This has very low input lag in game mode and the picture is still amazing.

Important Notes and Take-Aways For PC Gaming

    Posted .

I bought this TV instead of a 28" Computer Monitor so that I could play PC Games in 2160p or 1440p. The price was what I considered, and this TV can easily handle both PC work and fun. HDMI 2.0 is highly recommended. More-basic cables are fine, you'll find the offering of "Pearl" cables Best Buy offers to be sufficient. The shorter the better. Only a few manufacturers of graphics cards and only a few models support HDMI 2.0, let alone 3840x2160, let alone @60Hz, let alone YCbCr 4:4:4. The nVidia 970/980 is one of those that supports HDMI 2.0. I went there before considering 4K and didn't look back (for reasons of heat & power consumption) and lucked out. Take a look at the manufacturer specs. The good news is that driver and firmware updates are fixing bugs left and right, and HDMI specs can be updated via Firmware. I'm using nVidia 353.54 drivers, and I am using the "Pearl" 2m cable. I'm very happy with my cable because I KNOW I will be pushing the data through it. The Samsung UN40JU6500FXZA has built in Wi-Fi and can get updates easily this way. Run updates immediately. Next: In the Samsung menu, go to Picture > Picture Options > HDMI UHD Color > set the HDMI(port)1 to On. Then, hit [Source] > and hold the [Enter] button on the HDMI(port)1 to give an option to Edit Device Type and Name. Set it to PC and name it PC. This must be set to "PC" or the full 4:4:4 colors will NOT come through and some things WILL be washed out. Trust me, I did the troubleshooting just today. Doing these few things: The right hardware/GFX Card, Software Updates, HDMI 2.0 cable, and setting the settings properly, will insure full 3840x2160/60 YCbCr 4:4:4 color depth!!! Trust me, I've just laid out a lot of groundwork that a lot of others laid before me. We are on the verge of 4K being there, but for "Television" it is pointless. If you have a Blu-Ray, it should work well, but where this device really shines is connected to some type of HTPC with proper supported hardware and software, and we're not fully there yet, either. I feel I've lucked out, but I've spent $2,000 on my PC in the last 2 months. I love this TV monitor with the specs it produces, and I'm sure you will, too. My roommates are now getting one for their living room HTPC, maybe a little bigger ;)
