Prior to owning the Samsung 49" MU8000, I had a 40" 1080p Samsung TV (can't remember the model number at the moment but it had the wide maroon/burgundy/red bezel framing the TV). I had my other TV wall mounted but had to use spacers to have a 3" gap behind the TV so that I could plug in HDMI cables, coaxial cables and the power cord.
The OneConnect box does wonders for plugging in cables and provides a clean look when mounted on the wall. It also allows the TV to lay flat against the wall which improves the aesthetics.
I also like that when devices are plugged into the the OneConnect box, it allows you to control them with the TV remote. I have a XBOX One S and a Verizon cable box and the remote identifies both devices and can control many of the functions on each device.
The audio output on this TV is exceptional for its size. On less expensive TVs in this size range, the speakers tend to sound somewhat tinny and can not handle the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to sound. These speakers handle bass, highs and midrange fairly well and I was quite surprised when I started playing Spotify on the set. I intended to buy a soundbar shortly after I purchased this but after hearing the sound, I don't feel like I need to. Plus, this TV resides in the bedroom so it provides adequate sound for its current application. It gets fairly loud and can handle higher volumes without distorting and with clarity.
The menu is well thought out, fairly easy to use, find functions and launch apps.
The remote is the only area I feel that could have been a bit more refined. The remote is smaller than most standard TV remotes but I believe Samsung was trying to make a remote similar to what you find with streaming devices (i.e. Apple TV, Amazon Five TV, Roku). Most of the functions are accessed by using the circular button and pressing the center button to execute a command. There is a mic button that allows you to speak to the TV and control it via voice commands. I have used it once or twice so I can't give a extended opinion of it but from the times that I did, it functioned as it should. The one biggest drawback of the remote, IMHO, is that it's not backlit. I suppose that the remote is more set up for users to feel the functions on it and to input their choice on the TV screen but I think it would have been nice to have it backlit especially given its price point and small size.
So now the big question most of you want answered: What's the picture quality like? To be honest, it's pretty subjective. Like I was saying previously, I owned a 40" 1080p TV that was about 6-7 years old. This TV is bigger, twice the resolution, and has way more functions than the previous one so the short answer is yes, it has a high quality image on the screen. This is my first 4K TV so I don't have a realistic comparison to offer in real world conditions like my home but when I was shopping for the TV in Best Buy, I compared it to a Samsung 49" MU7000, a 50" Samsung MU6300 and a Sony KD49X720E in the store on the wall. Out of those 4 TV sets, I felt the black levels on the MU7000 and MU8000 were the best. The MU8000 was few dollars more so I went with it because it has some improvements over the MU7000 model. I Also like that the bezel on the MU8000 is bezeless on the top and the sides. It only has a thin bezel on the bottom of the TV. The MU7000 has the 1/4" bezel all the way around.
The TV automatically upscales lower quality signals and content so it improves the picture quality. It does recognize 4K devices automatically and when I use my Amazon Fire TV or stream Netflix to the set, those providers ask if I want to stream in 4k (for an additional fee of course). Gaming on the TV is fantastic and I can't wait to purchase a XBOX One X to really put this thing through its paces. My current XBOX does look nicer and it has the ability to play 4K HDR discs but I haven't had the opportunity to test that out yet.
So all in all, I highly recommend this TV. It works well in my bedroom but I don't see why it wouldn't perform well as a main unit in a home theater system. If you need something larger in the MU8000 series, you could go for the 65", 75" or gargantuan 82" models.

So pleased with the knowledge and outstanding customer service at the Henderson Best Buy. Asked about “Open box” and was told if the TV was available and matched the “geeks” high approval, it would save us more $$!

I should have done more research instead of impulse buying this television. It's beautiful, don't get me wrong. . .but, if I had it to do over again I would a.) get the 55" with the faster refresh rate and b.) reconsider even getting the Samsung because my cable remote is incompatible with it. My older Samsung smart TV works great with the Spectrum remote but this new TV requires the TV remote to change the volume and turn it on and off. No amount of programming tricks will make it work entirely with the cable remote. Changing channels, using the on demand functions, and the DVR functions all perfect. . .but volume and power. . .nope. . .have to have the Samsung remote in the other hand. This makes me unhappy. If you don't mind all the remote juggling and feeling like you should have spent the extra 200 bucks for the more technologically advanced tv then this is the 4K television for you!

Love the Source HUB which lets you connect whatever devices you have to the TV including memory cards. Smart controller also makes controlling most of my existing devices. Only which I had more ports.

As is now traditional on Samsung’s more fancy TVs, the bulk of the connections are housed separately in a One Connect box. There are 4 HDMI sockets on the box which make it easy to manage cables.

After several weeks of self-education I found the Smart TV that allows me to "cut the cable", an extremely user friendly interface for OTA and streaming services apps. Bravo Samsung! Well done.

Bought this after success with other smart Samsung TV’s. The single hdmi port plus the HDMI extender is annoying. Just leave the ports on the back of the tv. 4K is nice. Easy to navigate.

The first TV I received was bad. When I called the store in Jonesboro AR the woman that answered was very rude and not helpful. I called the Cape Girardeau store, they switched out the TV for me.
