    Best sound bar for Samsung Q60 4K TVs

    Having owned numerous different soundbars, the Q60 Harmon Kardon/Samsung soundbar is beyond comparison to any other options when paired with a Samsung TV. I had to upgrade hdmi cables to 18gbs minimum in order to get the most out of the 49” Q60 Samsung tv, but well worth it. The 360watt and wireless sub blows away my other Samsung soundbar. Items of note, the Q60 has more power than you’ll ever need. It has a true center channel and the sub will over power even a large family room. The accoustimass feature virtually elongates the need for rear speakers. And the built in “adaptive sound” does a good job recognizing what kind of show you’re watching and adjusts accordingly. My only issue with matching Q60 4K tv and Q60 sound bar is no matter what I tried, I could not get the hdmi pass through to work with our dish network receiver. Lastly, I spent almost a month researching the perfect 4K tv and sound bar for our living room and had major size and $$ restrictions I had to work with, and after all was said and done, i truly believe this was the best deal AND quality and there was not a single thing we had to “give up” to get the best. Keep in mind the tv and this sound bar were purchased when they were on sale.

    Great effort by Harman-Samsung

    After trying out 4 different sound bars, I believe I have found the one. At least it's the closest thing to what I expected. This Harman/Kardon & Samsung sound bar is just great!!!! It's certainly not the best in the world, but best one in it's class. The sound is great with crisp highs and more than enough bass from the woofer, depending on the size of the room. I have a small living room, so the bass is perfect for me. The only complaint is the lack of mid-frequency sound and dialogue clarity. Harman/Kardon always managed to make speakers with great highs/mids/lows, but unfortunately not this one. There's also no way to turn that up from the remote. Also, keep in mind that it's a half 5.1 sound bar. So you won't get the actual experience of a 5.1 system. This sound bar is perfect for people who don't want to rig their room with speakers everywhere and want one sound bar/woofer which looks sleek and minimalistic. Sound lovers, look elsewhere.

    Bought this sound bar to go with the Samsung Q70r 65 inch LED tv. They’re a match made in heaven. The best way to connect this sound bar to a TV is via Bluetooth. Don’t use HDMI or the fiber optic cable. Loudness and sound quality work best paired through Bluetooth.

    Definitely does its job for delivering great sound and solid bass, even on lower settings. Easy setup with the optical cable and I just use my samsung tv remote. The subwoofer tucks away nice and stays connected. I wish it was a little bit shorter in length that way it would fit under my 55", I guess ill just have to get a bigger tv! Just moved into new house so haven't had a chance to mount anything to the wall yet.

    Sounds great! Well worth the few extra dollars to jump up to this 5.1 vs the other models below this one the sound is well worth it. Paired rear speakers Samsung swa9000s. Took 10-15min and several try’s to pie them. They are not on the approved list but the work great with it. Very happy with this and glad I got it. Used it about 2 weeks without rear speakers added. By itself it still added so much depth and bass to everything.

    Very happy with the clean style of this soundbar. Subwoofer is a reasonable performer in a compact enclosure. Sound settings provide good Tune-ability for the space. Very pleased with the clarity and fidelity. Bluetooth pairing works well. The soundbar immediately recognized our Samsung TV and operates thru the TV remote. One less remote is a big deal for our family.

    Last year I bought a samsung tv and sound bar. Love them both. This year when I bought my 2nd qled for the family room I bought the Samsung sound bar that was one up from the old one. Nice sound. Very happy with the purchase.

    Great system. Sound is very high quality. Install and setup was super easy considering we have a Samsung TV. Pretty much plug and play. Also added the rear surround by Samsung and love that too.

    The minor glitch that may be encountered due to the synchronization of the sound and video is easily fixed by just following the directions or viewing the you tube video. Sound bar sounds and looks Great Wall mounted by the geek Squad.

    It might be not as loud as some other sound bars but the quality of sound is great and I never turn the volume all the way up anyway. It looks great and compact on the wall!

    Good soundbar for certain setups

    We needed something to boost the sound from our cheap LCD TV in the living room. After looking at a number of different soundbars, I settled on a Samsung because of name recognition and my son has 2 of them on his TV's. I also purchased the satellite rear channel speakers at the same time. Setup was very simple, the wireless sub connected immediately upon plugging in the AC line, however the satellite speakers were a little harder to get to pair up. The manuals for the soundbar and satellite speakers could be a little clearer that the remote buttons for volume and subwoofer actually press in (to allow access to setup menus) as well as toggle up and down. Overall the sound is good from the system, however, as most people will attest, it could do with a little more bass, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. But for the setup I wanted this for, it's perfect and it supplies the all the volume we need for the room. I would absolutely buy this again for this setup. I would recommend you thoroughly examine your current setup and devices you have attached to your TV. Some models out there have more than 1 HDMI input, making it a simple thing to plug in your X-Box or Playstation, your Chromecast, your Blu-Ray, etc. For my setup I have to run the X-Box and Chromecast into the TV and then connect the TV to the soundbar via the optical digital cable. YMMV.

    An excellent sound system for the average consumer

    If you want good quality sound at a reasonable price then the Samsung HW-Q60R soundbar is the system to get. While it will not give the loud, deep booming sounds of a high-end stereo system, no matter how good it may sound in the Best Buy showroom, the deep resonance of the subwoofer and additional woofers in the soundbar itself, though more subtle, is more than adequate for great sound when streaming music from your smartphone using the soundbar's Bluetooth capability and for watching movies, especially in Blu-Ray or 4K, where you have richer sound than with a DVD. As far as I know, this system will not work with Amazon Echo or similar devices. For this, you will need a different system. And speaking of Bluetooth - while the system has Bluetooth capability, you will not be able to view a movie or watch television using Bluetooth-enabled headphones! This was a huge disappointment for me since I often watch TV after my family has gone to bed and don't want to disturb them. This is a "must" feature that Samsung should add. And very, very important: The HW-Q60R soundbar is the system you want if YOU HAVE A 4K TELEVISION since it has 4K pass-through from a 4K video disc player to the TV. I bought the HW-N550 predecessor of this soundbar from Best Buy last year, only to discover past the date of return that I could not play 4K videos and get UHD resolution (only HD resolution) due to the lack of a 4K pass-through on the soundbar! So whatever soundbar you get in the end, if you want to play 4K video discs on a 4K player to your 4K television, you NEED a soundbar with 4K pass-through!! I am a bit angry at Best Buy for not alerting me to this since I bought a Samsung QLED television and 4K video disc player at the same time! When I finally got around to playing a 4K disc, I kept getting messages that it would only play HD quality and I couldn't figure out why. I even returned to Best Buy and asked the tech guy. They had no idea why. I finally called Samsung and learned past the date that I could return the soundbar that my soundbar was not 4K compatible. However, the current q60r soundbar system works beautifully and I can FINALLY enjoy 4K video discs and excellent sound. (BTW, I ended up giving the old system to my sister who has a non-Samsung TV and it works great, but frankly, Best Buy salespeople should be more up-to-date on these issues.) Let me conclude with this: The quality of sound with the HW-Q60R soundbar with 4K pass-through is much better than my older HW-N550. Not only is the bass more resonant with the redesigned subwoofer compartment but I can hear people speaking better. The newer Samsung soundbar is able to accentuate dialogue in a movie better than the previous system where the dialogue was often muted by the background sounds in the movie, forcing me to use subtitles so I could follow the dialogue. Oh, and be sure to get the accessory SWA-8500S speakers that go with the q60r soundbar to get the full effect of 5.1 surround sound. (Without them, you are only going to get 3.1 sound from the front only.) These speakers might be small but they have excellent sound quality, and to me, are worth the extra $100 or so that you must pay for them. Bottom line: If you are an average movie viewer like me with a desire for rich, full sound but not able to spend an arm and a leg for a high-end sound system, then this is the way to go!

    Reasonable sound but with a flaw

    We purchased this soundbar to go with a Samsung 65" JU670D TV. The soundbar is pretty long but fits under the TV nicely. You should plan on putting the subwoofer somewhere along the wall where the TV is located. If you don't, you will get sounds coming from wherever you put the subwoofer. While really low frequencies are effectively omnidirectional, this sub also provides some mid-bass sound that can be easily localized. We initially put ours in a corner behind the couch. It was weird to hear deep voices (for example) coming from behind us when the person was talking on the screen. We moved the sub after that! The flaw is this - the TV can control the soundbar via Anynet+. That is supposed to let you control the volume using the TV's remote. That doesn't work for sound from the subwoofer; there is a 30 second or so lag between adjusting the volume and the sub's response. Very annoying. Use the soundbar's own remote to avoid this problem. Just one more darn remote laying around.
