It started blacking out after the first year, with limited use, as I’m Not home a lot. I finally got to use the tv on a regular and it was somewhat fine, then just decided to go black and occasionally come in after fussing with it

Only had it for a little over 1 year before everything started going down. The remote control malfunctioned somehow and caused the volume to go all the way to 100. I could no longer control the tv.

Thank you for your review of the Samsung AU8000 TV. I apologize for the inconvenience you have had with the inconsistent sound volume.
The Auto Volume function automatically adjusts the sound to a certain level when changing channels or switching to another external input. Go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Auto Volume = On
You may also want to perform a Sound Test under Support > Self Diagnosis > Start Sound Test.
