Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought tv and gradually got vertical black lines across screen ,started with a few then got worst until there were about 30 ,then tv would cycle on and off with no picture ,sent to repair shop under warranty and Samsung refused to fix saying that extensive test showed that something had to hit the front of tv to cause this , I know from the time we bought it nothing hit the tv ,I’m 58 and my wife is 60 and kids are moved out ,will not buy another Samsung product.

Not a "Smart TV"

Half the time I'm waiting for the menu to either respond or just go away. Granted it's less than 1 minute but it's irritating. Heaven help you if you use an "App" on this TV. I couldn't get either the COX controller to get me out of the app nor the Samsung controller. Finally got to the input device to get back to cable and then I couldn't get rid of the menus. Other than this extremely poor menu design picture quality is good. Samsung has finally improved the sound quality of their speakers as well but after this experience I probably won't buy another Samsung.

Thank you for your review of the AU8000 Crystal UHD TV and sharing your experience with slow remote response time.
To optimize the smart TV performance, please try Device Care option under the Support Menu. Go to Settings > Support> Device Care > Start Device Care
This service checks memory and frees up unused cached memory and closes background apps.
Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
Also, you can disable Auto Run Smart Hub and Auto Run Last App to allow your TV to load straight to your external device without bringing up the menu. Navigate to Settings > General > Smart Features.

This is incorrect since only the Optical Audio cable should be used.
