Great picture, Blacks are black and whites are white and all colors in between are very vivid. I have never seen a better picture on a TV. Pleasant surprise was the 3-D which I wasn't concerned about until I got home and tried it. Was very surprised as to how well it worked - very clear and sharp picture. Biggest problem with the 3-D is you have to have glasses to watch it in 3-D and they aren't cheap, especially if you want to have a group watching it. The remote that comes with it is weird and slightly difficult to use. The smart TV aspect is new to us and although most require a paid subscription, there are some free sites such as YouTube. We are very happy with the TV.

This tv is one of the visually clearest sharp tv ever. This tv have great low input lag for gaming and the upscaler is one of best out money can buy. This tv is best thing next to the 9000 series that offers a little more clarity but more on price and a curve screen gimmick. The 3d is also great with very little cross walk. The only thing that may hurt is the price but I bought it cause wanted that clarity for my gaming And it deliver I cant stress how good this tv is, i fully recommend this tv,

As far as the picture display is concerned it is top notch. The integrated youtube and netflix apps allow you to take advantage of the 4K resolution as there are no other commercially available physical devices supporting that resolution. (at the time of writing this.) Going from 60hz to 240hz is something I had to get used to. It's so smooth and everything looks so clear that movies & TV shows look cheap at first; almost like watching a home video.
I bought this mainly for the 3D support but after finally using it I can say I'll never use it again: I had a splitting migraine after 20 minutes of playing a game in 3D.
The only Real issue I have with this TV is the remote. It's essentially a Nintendo Wii-mote. There is no numerical pad and everything has to be controlled with an on screen menu which usually disappears halfway through typing the channel I want to select. It also has a voice command option which seems like a good idea but it's difficult to get it to stop listening to you. i.e. Say something other than "Channel X" and it will launch an internet browser to search for it.
One minor inconvenience has to do with switching between sources and it not returning to the TV when I turn the source off. For instance shutting off the Chromecast or Xbox will leave me on a black screen rather than returning to an active source as my old Samsung TV used to. It's just a matter of pulling up the onscreen menu, and selecting TV under the Source Menu but it's not as intuitive or user friendly as I would like.
Overall the TV is great but I'm considering buying a replacement remote.

I absolutely love this TV. Best picture quality! I love the built in Smart TV features which allow me to switch to Netflix, Amazon TV and Plex without having to go through a ton of steps. Easy, seamless operation. BestBuy's GeekSquad installation was easy and painless.

This SUHD TV replaces a smaller LG HD LED set. I read many reviews of this and similar sets. Decided on this one based on price and quick delivery. In fact, was amazed that Best Buy gave me a rebate as the price had dropped right after purchase online! I have a dark corner where this set is placed and I think that helps define all the rich colors and darks that this set has. It is very adjustable to all kinds of light situations. I like the ease of the Apps which Samsung has ready to install. It has kept good connection with my home wifi. Although not all broadcasts are true 4k (we have AT&T UVerse) it is a definite upgrade in quality from my former TV. And it is fun to find 4k video on other sites to demonstrate what the future holds. The remote takes a little getting used to, but it also works with my UVerse remote. I have a soundbar attached and it is synced perfectly.

I was originally looking at buying the JU7100. But comparing the two side by side I decided to spend more and go with the JS8500. The panel is a 10 bit vs 8 bit and it's also HDR ready. Another advantage the JS8500 has is the the nano crystals which is Samsungs version of quantum dots. It allows for a larger rage of colors. The color difference was noticeably better. I use this TV for a computer monitor for gaming/work, PS4, Netflix, and movies on my external hard drive. This TV is excellent! Color and clarity is amazing. I haven't had any issues with input lag for gaming either. I've read lots of reviews from 3rd party reviewers and this TV rank the best for the size I was looking for (55"). If your looking for a good review look at rtings.com Samsung is known for saturated and vivid colors on most of their products. So keep that in mind. You can always have it calibrated if you want more natural colors. I enjoy vivid colors for gaming and on movies or shows. This just made it perfect for what I like to look at. This TV is great and it definitely surpassed my expectations. My roommate is going to buy the same TV.

I had been in the market for a new, 4K TV for a couple of months. After doing some careful research, I ended up with the Samsung JS8500. I got it home and was not disappointed. I know many have used professional calibration settings, but I honestly thought the picture looked great out of the box. I went from a 47 inch LG 1080p LED TV. I was a little hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if I would be able to tell a huge difference since there is not much 4K content available at the moment. However, I could tell a definite increase in picture quality over my older set. I was an LG fan, but anything comparable from LG would have been at least $700-800 more than the Samsung model.

We mad the jump from a plasma to this tv and it is AMAZING! My husband watches a lot of sports and the sports mode makes it seem like you are at the game. Vibrant colors, sweat dripping off the players, etc. We are also enjoying the smart tv software. It was a bit confusing at first but once you get the hang of it is great. I love the easy access to the internet, Netflix, Hulu, etc. And best of all there are NO WIRES except to plug in the power supply. There is a separate box for the hub. This has made a world of difference in making our entertainment center area look clean and classy. Love it!

In general I'm satisfied with this TV, but after having it several weeks I would not give it 5 stars. Picture quality is very good, but blacks are not as deep as I had hoped. Picture quality is very dependent on the source material. Set up, at least to get everything the way I preferred, was time consuming. The remote definitely takes some getting used to, its small and has few buttons. My opinion of it is mixed, but I would have been just as happy with a traditional remote. My overall feelings are that its a good TV and will probably be fine for me, but considering the cost I'm not sure it was worth it.

This is an amazing tv.. Picture quality is just hard to describe. Crystal clear. Color quality and clarity just amazing. If you want to watch tv at night without bothering the rest of the family you can connect your favorite Bluetooth Headset for private listening....Awesome. The mini connect one does away with most of the cable clutter. I'm not that found of the remote supplied though.. Its hard to hold but I am getting use to it Sort of. It doesn't fit that well in your hand.

I originally went into the store with the intention of buying a different TV and came out with this. I could not be more happy with the purchase.
The picture is amazing. Whether it is watching movies, sports or even playing video games I notice little details that I never had before.
The TV, even when turned off, looks great. The TV has a very thin profile, which caught me by surprise. I love the silver trim around the edges of the TV, it makes for a very modern look.

I've owned JS8500 for close to one month now and am very happy with it's overall performance. I won't detail everything but here's my top pros and cons.
Pros:
1. Picture quality on this TV is fantastic. Blacks are rich and colors are vibrant. There's lots of options to alter based on your tastes, however, after testing out all of them, I found that I use the "standard" mode.
2. Smart TV apps access (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc.)
3. Silver surround is elegant (this is just my opinion and I understand it really just comes down to personal taste). Having only had TVs with a black surround prior, I thought it'd be problematic but after a week or two it receded to a barely noticeable state.
Cons:
1. Sound quality is not that great.
2. The TV stand hight is very low and sticks out too far in front. This is really annoying when it comes to having a soundbar or center channel, as it pushes them forward and blocks the TV's remote censor (although a more expensive sound system will have remote extenders to rectify this issue).
3. Menu interface leaves something to be desired (again, this is just my opinion, but in my line of work I see a lot of well designed interfaces and feel this one is lacking).
I should also mention that my review only accounts for the TV itself, not Samsung customer/technical service. I've had poor experiences with them in the past so I opted to buy the Geek Squad protection so circumvent having to deal with the company directly.

Honestly not sure if it was worth the extra vs non-SUHD (maybe samsung can send me one to compare? :)).
This TV rocks. The colors are great and the SMART connectivity is top-notch. I LOVE the SMART remote that lets me point to the screen like a mouse cursor.
My first TV got dark in the bottom corners, but Best Buy replaced it. Apparently that's a not-too-rare thing to happen with many LED screens and is a manufacturing defect.

I decided to replace my 55'" RPTV that served us well for 12+ years. The picture is awesome right out of the box. I really like the bright backlight but I also found calibration settings online and it makes a difference with movies. I do see that if sitting off to the side you can see a shift in the color. The pointer of the remote is something I have not totally mastered but it is a nice alternative when moving around on the screen. I have not really watched a lot of 4k stuff so far but I really like the upscaling the tv does with Blu Rays and regular tv. I can't wait to see how HDR looks on the tv.

The World's Finest Display

Nano Crystal technology truly does make a difference. This tv has the best picture quality and most accurate colors I've ever seen. The display even outdoes my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition table it looks so perfect. No surprise considering this is Samsung's S series. Just like the S5 and S6 phones, the S denotes that this is Samsung's flagship. The most advanced, highest quality televisions they manufacture. It's almost like a computer with the apps and web browser and you can connect a hard drive to watch media files or store apps and games. I especially love the metal bezel rather than plastic. At first I was hesitant about the 3D because I did not like 3D in the movie theater; but on this screen, it looks nearly like virtual reality the depth perseption seems looks so real. 3D completely transformed my viewing experience and, trust me, it's worth every penny over the cheaper model down. It even converts all of your regular 2D programs into 3D it you click on the icon or you can still watch it in 2D. Plus the 8500 series has HDR lighting capability with makes it future proof when 4k ultra blu rays come out next year. For now the 4k media on You Tube makes regular 1080p look drab. Thankfully, this tv excellently upscales regular HD to 4k. So although your watching HD this display is so advanced that it truly does make you think that you are watching 4k all the time. The only 2 negatives about this tv are: 1. everything connects to an external box rather than to the tv itself. Some people might like this but it makes me worry that if that box goes bad how much is it going to cost to fix or replace. 2. the remote control is garbage. Samsung removed most of the buttons and replaced them with a Nintendo wii like cursor and virtual onscreen keypad and controls. What most bothers me most about this is that I like to watch movies off my hard drive and want to fast forward, pause and rewind with the remote. Yes, you can pause and push play with the remote, yet you have to use the arrow keys to fast forward and rewind and it only goes in 10 second jumps with a single press and super fast if you hold down or press again. Just like with the box mentioned first, I'm worried that this remote might break or wear out with extensive use and I don't know if a universal remote will control all the advanced features on this tv. Nevertheless, this is the greatest television I've ever seen in my life and I am so deeply thankful to own it. I strongly recommend this model to anyone looking for the best 4k display on the market. Honestly, they do make a curved model and the 9000 series but I don't believe the curve makes much of a difference and the 9000 series does not have enough extra features to justify the huge cost difference. So, in my opinion, the SUHD 8500 is the only tv anyone should buy if you can afford it.

Looked for quite a while for a replacement for our Sharp LED TV. This one was an excellent choice, though I must admit I'm not a fan of 3d TV. I used it once and it was cool. Just not something I use on a regular basis. We thought we would like the central "hub" for hooking up all the devices (game consoles, Ethernet, etc), but the cord was not long enough for a wall mount. Be sure and measure before you buy. We absolutely love the ability to mirror directly from our Galaxy S6 phones to this TV! In the end, we still wouldn't have chosen anything else.

Purchased this TV a month or so ago and besides having problems getting it attached to the stand, the picture is beautiful. When I attached it to the stand and put it into place the TV was crooked. My son helped me put a small shim between the TV and stand and fixed the problem. The features are great as well as the picture. Well worth the money for this high quality TV.

We debated for a while which tv to go with, but decided to opt for a higher quality, even though it was more expensive. I really like all of the features that come with this tv and the smart features are very user-friendly. The picture quality is great - even with non-UHD programming. The only issue I have is that the image isn't quite as clear when viewed from an angle, but I can't say that this is any better/worse than other comparable tvs.
