Decent "QLED", but lacks local dimming

This Samsung is clearly a decent tv with a clear picture, thin panel, good colors, and a lot of contrast, but the lack of local dimming, basic brightness, so so HDR and so so upscaling make me question why this is over $1k for a 55". I do appreciate Samsungs easy-use remotes, but this remote feels incredibly cheap compared to my 2018 q8fn. All the apps are readily available and easy to access. Haven't gamed on it so can't comment on that. Overall, the tv is a fine product that was purchased for my mom for streaming. She enjoys it, but I personally wouldn't buy this as my main set. But the tv gets the job done!!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your new 2021 Q70A QLED TV. The TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer your content is to 4K, the better the image will look on the screen.
Here are some tips to adjust image quality:
1) HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing.
2) If you have an analog cable box or satellite box, upgrade to a digital cable box or satellite box.
3) Change the output resolution of your devices, such as digital broadcast receiver, IPTV, and set-top box to UHD or HD.
4) You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.
5) Choose a Picture Mode by going to Settings > Picture > Picture Mode and choose from Dynamic, Standard, Natural, Movie, or Filmmaker Mode.

The picture is very vibrant and the sound is great. I have it hooked up to a Samsung sound bar. This tv seems easier to find my streaming services than my older one. I also want to say i was extremely pleased with the 5 year extended warrenty that I purchased. It was seemless...the tech came out, checked it out, couldn't fix it and in one week I had my new tv. I did pay $60 for a bit of an upgrade and of course I purchased an extended warrenty on my new tv. Was very pleased.

Coming from a 2017 1080p samsung TV. The difference blew my mind away. Picked up a PS5 a week later and couldn't be happier. And yes runs great at 4k 60 and 120. This TV has everything for the movie junkies and gamer nerds like myself.

Pretty good but some flaws

It doesn't configure well with Google. It works better with Bixby than Google. There's no way to use the remote control to enter numbers into the the internal software, i suppose you have to setup a phone and use the numbers from that. And the TV turns on randomly in the morning sometimes for some reason. It's not on a timer, but it will be on set to the "wallpaper" low power screen. Dont know why and haven't figure out how to stop that from happening. But the picture quality is very nice. Game mode is excellent. The Samsung channel apps are a nice touch. The TV settings software needs to work better along with Google for 5 stars.

Thank you for choosing Samsung's Q70A TV and for sharing your experience with your TV turning itself on, as well as the Solar Cell Remote. To assist you in the learning the various features, functions, and settings of the remote, you can download the Solar Cell Remote Guide directly from Samsung’s website under ‘Support’ (top right corner) > Manuals & Software > TVs & Home Theater. From there, you can select the Q70A under QLED 4K TVs > A Model Lineup. Additionally, you can find other guides and manuals to further assist you with your TV’s features.
To address the issue with your TV turning itself on, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Unplug the TV from the wall outlet or surge protector and leave it unplugged for 30 seconds.
2. Check the power cord to see if there is any visible damage.
3. Plug the TV power cord back into the wall outlet. If you were using a surge protector, bypass it for now and use a wall outlet.
4. Try to update the software. In some cases, a software update can correct the problem. There is a risk, however. If the TV turns off during the software update, it could damage the TV. Updates can take up to 30 minutes depending on network speed, so if the TV is not turning off too frequently, try updating the software.
5. Disable the Power On with Mobile option. TVs that can connect to SmartThings can be turned on using compatible devices, sometimes automatically. However, if abnormal "power on" signals are sent through the wireless network, they will trigger this function and make the TV turn on. If you do not want this function, navigate to Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings > Power On with Mobile, and turn the setting off.
