To be honest I have a Samsung Curve Series 8000. For what I paid I don’t see a difference in picture. Geek squad did an amazing job with install and hiding the wires!!! A+++++ I’m considering switching to the LGC9.

Hi F12018,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your new 2021 Q80A 4K QLED TV. If the picture you are seeing out-of-the-box are not to your liking, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
You can select the Picture Mode that provides the best viewing experience. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.
Intelligent Mode also enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Adaptive Picture, which is among the options, optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.

The tv is very good in theory but it came with a slight backlight problem in the upper left part that has worsened just a month after buying it. In addition to some small marks on the screen that are only seen in some positions. Now that the problem is more serious, I'm going to see what Bestbuy tells me.

Good picture but came with one dead pixel that my girlfriend pointed out on it.

Bought this tv last night. This morning when I got it set up and turned on the tv there was dead pixels in the bottom left of the screen. Returned the tv and got a replacement, and had the same issue. Ended up looked at the others in stock at the store and even at another store and every tv we looked at had this issue. Until this issue is fixed I don’t recommend buying this tv.

I had I hopes for this TV - I was initially blown away but then noticed an array of purple spots that becomes visible when the area they are in are meant to be black! Very distracting! Very disappointing- seems like really poor quality control at Samsung

I would say avoid this TV for now until they get the screen issues figured out from the factory. I purchased one and had to return it because of a screen issue and then my replacement I just got had the same issue in almost the same exact part of the screen. So either something is happening in the factory or during shipping to these TVs.

Thank you for your review of the 55” Q80A TV and for sharing your experience which caused you to return your TV. It is possible that the triangle image you were reporting was imprinted on the protective film.
Please be aware that not all TVs come with a protective film. If there is a protective film on your screen, it would have been indicated with a blue tab in the upper left corner. The tab has an illustration showing how to remove the protective film. If there was no blue tab in the upper left corner, no protective film would have been on the screen, and peeling anything off would have damaged what is actually the screen.
If you did try removing the film and only removed the blue tab, you could have tried affixing a piece of adhesive tape to where the blue tab was and tried removing the film again.

Please make sure to inspect the screen well if you buy this TV. I had to replace in the store 2 TVs with different problems on the screen.

I recently purchased this QLED upon the recommendation of one of the staff members. Originally, I was looking at a cheaper model, but since I watch sports I did not know that 120HZ is better for my viewing choices. I also like the full array feature and the ability to watch at varying angles without loss in picture quality. I watch this tv in a bright room with sunlight coming in during the afternoons and this tv does a great job with this. The darks are decent and the sound is actually not bad with my particular room. Picture quality is amazing and I would highly recommend this product given its price point. I am not a gamer so I only use this tv for sports and movies and streaming services.

This Samsung 55 inch QLED has a very clear picture and great sound. It does not require a sound bar. It is easy to control and the controller requires no batteries. It charges itself via ambient light.

Great Quality over the last 2 years. Refresh rate and color have been great for games

First of all for the people complaining about dead pixels in the shape of a triangle (bottom left), that is on the shipping screen protector to be peeled off the TV! Very happy with the colors and speed/lag. We are using this mostly for gaming, the majority being Xbox Series X and Switch. Works great. Used recommended setting for last year's 80T and we didn't do any other tweaks. Brightness 30, Contrast 45, Sharpness 0, Color 25, Tint 0, Local dimming Standard, Contrast enhancer Off, Color tone Warm2, Color Space Auto. I think everything else was default. Search for the people that know betterfor the setting, but that may get you started. We're happy, especially how the Xbox performs with this TV. It would be nice if they would have at least one more HDMI 2.1 port, but for what we have now it is OK.

Great TV! I bought the 55 inch and it’s perfect in my living room. Clean thin bezel. Rich colors, Very bright picture with the full array backlighting. Contrast is great, blacks are clean blacks. Refresh speed provides sharp pictures in fast moving scenes. I prefer the QLED because there is a considerable amount of light from my living room windows. This TV is definitely bright enough to perform great in a sun filled room. This is an excellent high/mid range TV.

The Q80A is TV beyond what I was expecting. Long gone are the days where TV’s feel sluggish and don’t do anything to enhance the experience of the movie watching. Featuring an impressive color accuracy and HDR brightness that will make you squint, movie watching is getting an upgrade with this TV. The local dimming feature works very well, insuring that blacks stay black. LED’s have gotten so much better, allowing for some competition with an OLED. What you won’t see on an OLED that you will see on this TV however, is some light bleed around white text on a dark background. Thankfully, that doesn’t quite happen often and certainly not while playing games. Video games is where this TV shines. Hands-down one of the best televisions I have used for gaming. I have used it with both my PS5 and my Series X and I am wildly impressed. The Freesync Premium VRR allows my Series X to dynamically adjust the frame rate which leaves every game feeling incredibly smooth. The TV supports HDMI 2.1 and 120fps 4K….which looks INCREDIBLE. When turning on either of the systems, you are greeted with the game bar, informing me what the FPS is and other information. I have found it to be quite handy in making sure settings are set correctly. The remote for the TV is great. It is slim and features a solar battery charger. I have no idea why it has taking companies this long to implement this feature…again. With it you don’t need to worry about batteries ever again. The software is incredibly snappy and you won’t be missing out on any of your favorite streaming apps. They are all here. It is quite refreshing honestly to have a TV that the menu doesn’t feel ‘cheap’ and slow. Overall, this is such a phenomenal TV and I’m incredibly happy with my purchase. Movie watching is a joy and playing games feels new. Crisp bright colors, just as the directors intended, means you won’t be missing out on any of the details. HIGHLY recommend

This tv has fantastic picture quality and well worth the money. I probably won’t need a sound bar, though I’ll get one anyway. I was looking to upgrade my older Vizio M49-C1. I read reviews that said basic tv and streaming movies only need 60hz refresh rate, and 120hz is actually a waste of money if you’re not a gamer, so I thought I could save some money. I was wrong. (The M49-C1 has 120hz refresh, by the way.) I spent $550 on what I thought was a pretty decent tv with 5-6 year newer technology, but a 60hz refresh rate. As soon as I got it home, I immediately noticed that I had actually downgraded in picture quality, and it seemed like a huge downgrade. I don’t play games, just steam movies and tv from the various Netflix, Amazon, and such. I returned the 60hz tv and picked up the Samsung Q80A and though I paid twice as much as the 60hz tv, I’m much more satisfied. The Samsung has all the apps I need and I will be happy for years to come. Some things to consider: Doesn’t come with screws for a tv wall mount and the Samsung holes are much deeper than my last tv. Had to buy some screws in order to use the same mount. If you turn the tv around and look at the back, the coaxial and HDMI outlets are on the left side. My last tv had them on the right side and my cables weren’t long enough to reach. Had to buy extensions.

I bought this to replace a 6 year old Samsung that died due to lightning. I am really enjoying this television. A great picture at a reasonable price. The Smart Features work great and I love the solar powered remote.
