I got this tv a few weeks ago. Set up was easy, just take a couple minutes. Picture is crisp and clear. HDR works great!! The motion flow make fast pace scene looks smooth as it gets. It looks beautiful in day light, but the full array back light makes it perfect for dark rooms as well. Build in apps and network features are easy and quick to manage. Gaming mode is awesome!! Refresh rate is 120fps which is a big pro if you planning on get a next gen console like the ps5. This is a great 4K smart TV for its price!!

tl;dr: 1 more HDMI input @ 120Hz and it'd be perfect This was my first 4k TV purchase, so I did a fair amount of research before buying. I knew I didn't want to go OLED because of the chance of burn-in from gaming; I know a lot of people have said theirs hasn't done that, but enough have seen it to keep me away. Narrowing it down to this and Sony's X900H, I chose this due to the deal I got here at BB with Geek Squad coverage. After spending some time I'm VERY happy with my selection. PROS: *Fantastic PQ for 4k movies (no Dolby Vision, but HDR10/HDR10+ imo look just as good), upscaled 720/1080 sources look great...ish (see cons) *Gaming from PS4 and PS5 look GREAT. I’ve not noticed any lag that makes gaming detrimental *Lots of built-in apps cover most, if not all, of your streaming services *Cable wrangler built into base, which is AWESOME when you max out HDMI devices and want to keep everything organized *OneRemote sees all my devices…sort of (see cons) *Airplay 2/Chromecast capable *Included Samsung TV Plus service is a nice-to-have, but honestly didn't know about it till after I set the TV up CONS: **REALLY wish I had a second 120Hz HDMI input *Upscaling mostly works, but when showing upscaled content that’s 30fps instead of 60 the blur is pretty bad, and blur settings WILL make it worse. Speaking of… *Motion Plus (blur) settings can/will change based on source, so be prepared to fiddle with those settings a lot. Tbh I only turn the blur settings on for sports *This TV and Apple TV don’t play nice. The complete setup process doesn’t allow the remote to fully control the ATV; my workaround of just plugging it into an HDMI port and skipping the setup lets me control it but won’t give me the ATV icon for that input (don’t care, it works like I want it to). All other devices connected immediately *Speakers are crap, PLEASE get a soundbar *There is a picture-in-picture feature called MultiView (2 sources on the screen at the same time), but one source HAS to be a mobile device, and the only devices that support it are Samsung devices. You can Airplay from iPhone/iPad, but the full-on MultiView functionality won’t work from iOS My cons are really nit-picking, and in no way inhibit what I do on a daily basis. I’d fully choose this TV again, and have recommended it to others that were looking for what I was in 4k smart TV functionality. You'll definitely need to tweak settings based on where you put it (no such thing as a one-size-fits-all setup for every environment), but once you get it right this really is a joy to watch stuff on.

This TV is incredible. The first time I turned on the TV it asked to link up with the smart things app on my Samsung Galaxy S20+. Once I linked up thru the app it automatically linked to my home wifi and set up my account. The ease at which the smart features work on this TV are amazing. I never have to press a source button to change HDMI ports. The moment you turn on a device that is hooked up to an HDMI port then that port becomes the live feed. For gaming I have never had a TV that was as detailed and fast and smooth as this. You could manually set up these settings or have the TV do it automatically. Once I turn on my gaming console the TV senses that I have turned it on and automatically switches to that HDMI port. Once I turn it off then it automatically switches back to TV. The apps for this TV are also super easy to use. Just press the menu button on the remote and select whichever app that you want to watch. There are a variety of apps to choose from and there is also the option to download an app if it is not already there. The smart remote has a voice operating option too that you can use. During the initial set up you can program the TV to know your voice. This is truly a great TV for the price. I almost went with the Q70T. And although that is a good TV too. The Q80T was definitely worth the extra few hundred dollars.

so I purchased this after upgrading to next gen gaming (series x) — huge visual improvement. it supports HDR10+ but not its rival (dolby atmos). which doesn’t matter to me. if you’re sitting on the fence about this TV in terms of gaming — get it. I chose this tv over the LG CX series because it’s not susceptible to image burn. tip: took me a couple restarts to get 120hz activated on my xbox. don’t enable VRR. xbox will ask you if you want to use advanced video features once it realizes your tv can handle 120fps. make sure it’s in HDMI 4 (it has a game controller icon next to it)

I haven't had this TV for long but so far it has been an excellent performer. I am using as my primary computer monitor which includes regular computing tasks (Office items, Web Browsing, Etc), Movies and some TV viewing (mainly sports) and gaming. For TV and Movies the TV has been great. I do disable most of the "motion processing" as it only servers to add unwanted "smoothing" effects to the image. Images are clear and vibrant. For gaming, the performance is even better. Everything from Sim games (Anno series) to shooters (CoD) and the big AAA rpg releases (Legion, Valhalla) all look and play great with no noticeable input lag except in very minor instances during "twitch based" shooters (and even then its VERY minor). The only place where the TV disappoints is with text. Don;t get me wrong, its passable and works fine but most text (Browser, Office Applications, Etc) is just a bit on the blurry side. The "sharpening" setting can help some but its still a bit lacking. Overall excellent image for almost all uses. I will however rate "ease of use" a bit lower. If you are going to game, and if you are going to use the HDMI 2.1 capability, youll need to jump through some hoops to ensure its actually configured corrently.

My old Samsung TV from 2009 started to give up on me so figured getting a new TV for my new gaming console would be a perfect excuse to get a new gaming TV that can support 4k @ 120Hz. After obsessively reviewing and comparing the best gaming TVs 2020 had to offer I finally settled on the Q80t over the Q90t and LG CX. I couldn't really decide which tv to choose comparing specs so I went to my local Best Buy and just looked and them and played with them a little in person, and that was how I decided ultimately. One thing I really liked about this TV as a first impression was the great sound it outputs. I saw some bad reviews about the remote control, but I think it's actually just perfect. It fits in my hand easily, doesn't have excessive numbers on it like the LG magic remote, and it has a built in mic that works great for voice to text commands. This TV is amazing with my new Xbox series X console and think it would not disappoint most who get it. The TV doesn't offer Dolby, but right now I could care less about that until it really becomes something I'd want out of a TV.

This tv slaps. The user interface/experience is lightning fast with almost no input lag, the detail in 4K content is impeccable. I’m coming from a 40 inch led, and the q80t is light years brighter. It definitely take some getting used to, but now we love this tv. Video games look great, too.

This is a fantastic TV. The picture is clear and crisp with beautiful vibrant colors. We have rewatched some shows that had a lot of intricate background scenery and are amazed at the things we never saw before. The in-TV speakers even deliver decent sound if you don't want to futz with the sound system for each show. It does have a quirk where it dials the backlighting down to minimum whenever the screen consists of nothing but a black background with text. This makes movie credits or any text screen rather dim but I can live with that. Then there is the remote. On a $1000+ TV they give us this barely functional candy bar looking thing. What genius at Samsung thought it was a good idea to remove all the buttons and make everything a scroll thru menus and click exercise, or need Alexa's help to change channels. I call menus and click a workaround, And it is so small it just seems to stay lost. The good news is that if you have an old Samsung remote it is still compatible.

This TV was very easy to set up, I've been using it for about a month and a half now, and I can say that I'm very happy with my purchase. The 'Smart' TV functions allow me to access YouTube TV, YouTube, Apple Music, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and a whole host of other applications that I can watch virtually anything I want at anytime. Welcome to the future! The QLED TVs are worth it and have much better picture quality than the standard LCD/LED screens. The only other TV I'd choose over a QLED is an OLED, but those TVs are a LOT more expensive, so unless you're super picky about the picture quality and having the 'true black' color (like on an OLED), go for the QLED. You won't be disappointed.

-TLDR: Ok TV, and best LCD TV on the market (based on reviews) only 2nd to the Q90T. But, has a handful of short comings, 3 fairly noticeable DSE spots, 1 a dead pixel that appeared after a day of use and overall disappointed. Would not recommend. -In-depth Review: I was in the market for a couple new TVs during all the football sales and picked up a LG CX 55" (OLED) and this Q80T 55" (QLED). In all honestly for the room the Q80T was going in I really only wanted their 50" version, but after going through a lot of reviews it appears the screen on the 50" is not a 120Hz panel like every other size above it. Since this TV would be used for games I had to pay the $200 to get the better panel. I also went with the Q80T for gaming on fear of Burn In that can happen with OLED screens. Also this one was highly reviewed. -Initial Impressions: Before I hooked this TV up I had been using the LG CX for a few days, and could immediately notice the difference in the picture. While the black levels were pretty good on the Q80T, they were no where near what the OLED could do. And while it may not be fair to compare these two TV's as the OLED picture quality is very clearly better in every aspect, their prices being only $150 apart at the time of this review & cheaper than the Q90T makes it a valid argument. That being said, the picture quality in the Q80T was not bad and looked very good for an QLED display. The motion felt pretty good and the HDR seemed to be done well with very little blooming if any. Gaming at 120Hz on the TV looked amazing and was very responsive. If it was not for what I started to notice after I would have kept this TV. -Problems Start: This TV suffers from DSE (Dirty Screen Effect). This means the pixels are not uniform across the whole screen leaving some areas a little darker than others. It was not super bad on this unit but this was noticeable at times during fast motion. There were also 3 spots, each about the size of a dime right next to each other in the center of the screen that was clearly darker than the rest. This quickly became a huge annoyance. In the past I had a computer monitor that came with one of these dime sized spots and it went away after a couple days of use. So with that in mind, I left the TV on while I went to bed on a random channel. When I got up I noticed that not only were the spots still there, but now there was a dead pixel not far from them in the center area of the TV... I tried all the fixes you can find online for this but it would not come back. This was ultimately the reason I returned it but may have returned it if those 3 spots never went away. -Other Shortcomings: In addition to the things above which when reading online DSE seems to be common on this model, there are some other things this TV could have done better. First and foremost this TV does not offer Dolby Vision support that every other TV in this price range does. Dolby Vision is essentially the new Standard for HDR replacing the HDR4 through HDR12+ ratings into something more standardized and offers big gains in potential picture quality. The next area of concern is this TV only offers 1 HDMI 2.1 port. While this may not be a big deal today, it does hurt the long term sustainability of this TV, especially if you are a gamer that may need to connect more than 1 HDMI 2.1 device at a time. I personally hated the settings menu. Compared to other TVs the options for customization felt very lacking. -Final Thoughts: I really feel, both from my own experience and from reading & watching reviews of this TV that Samsung's quality for their TVs has really dropped over time. In our main viewing area we have a Samsung 4k thats now probably 6 years old and it looks much better without any issues of DSE compared to the Q80T. With the Q80T being much newer and at its price point it should outperform it, but it doesn't by a lot in terms of picture quality. In addition, my DSE on this TV seems to be much better than others have received feeling like their QA is non-existent. Unfortunately, it's not even as easy as saying to just save a bit more and get the Q90T because it apparently has far worse DSE than the Q80T does. -LG CX vs. Samsung Q80T: I bring this up as there is currently only a $150 price difference between the two since the LG CX is on sale, but even at it's normal price at $300 more it's still cheaper than the Q90T and worth comparing. Hands down, no contest the LG CX's EVERYTHING is better. Hugely better picture quality, better motion handling, all 4 HDMI ports are 2.1, Dolby Vision support & tons of settings to play with. The only real thing that may keep you from buying a clearly better TV is burn in. It can happen but not right away and maybe not even happen if you watch a verity of content on it. Also the BestBuy extended warranty covers burn in, so if you are willing to add another $300 to the price of the TV you can have 5-years of worry free usage. Lots to think about, but personally when I returned it I just went with a 2nd LG CX. It just looks way too good and gaming on this TV looked incredible.

I spent a long time looking for a 55in TV and trying to determine what offers the best quality for a good value. I settled on the q80t after comparing it to the sony 950h and LGs due to wide viewing angle and picture quality. Best Buy quickly delivered the TV without issue. However, setting up the TV took some time as I continually had lip syncing issues while trying to use the cable box and the sound bar. I worked through all the guidance available and used the correct cords with no success other than simplifying the sound output to stereo with zero delay. Coming from a Roku TV, we also did not like the remote as it had a high learning curve to find all the appropriate settings. However, after you mastered the settings and sound, the picture is great. In the end we ended up returning the TV when the TCL series 8 65in went on sale for half price. When comparing this TV to the TCL, the picture is a little better, but the viewing angles are not noticeably different and the TCL had no issues setting up or getting the sound to work. The Roku software is easier than Samsung. In the end, this is a great TV. However, if the TCL series 8 is on sale, you can save some money and get a great picture with an easier operating system.

This TV is amazing! I bought it mainly because I read it was good for video gaming (my kids are gamers and getting the PS5 for Christmas). As it turns out, not only is it great for gamers, but also for regular people like myself who like watching TV shows and movies. We've been watching The Mandalorian and the sound and special effects are amazing on this TV. I was worried about setting it up, but I can tell you it took all of 10 minutes to get a hang of the remote...it is the easiest TV to use. It might take you a little longer if you want to play around with the settings, which we had to do for the video gaming mode, but even this was easy to do. I love how all the apps appear in one place, and there is just one remote needed.

FINALLY got myself a TV that looks like you are looking out a crystal clear window. The picture is just phenominal! Jam packed with features, easy to set up and a breeze to mount to my wall. No dead pixels, and perfect right out of the box. As for Best Buy ... my local store in Springfield, PA yielded me the opportunity to deal with Stefan ... very knowedgeable, professional, and fast fast fast in accomodating me top to bottom! Overall a GREAT TV, and wonderful experience after replacing all TVs AND appliances following a house fire! (DEFINITELY an experience that relieved MUCH of the stress surrounding such a calamity!!!) The Samsung Q80T is quite a nice TV. Features and start up on this were very easy to use. Speakers in the TV (4) two on top and two on bottom are very good. I have a Samsung soundbar that I transferred to the new TV, but you could live with the speakers for any normal use. I purchased online and picked up in a store away from my normal one. They were in limited supply when I got it. NOTE: Make sure you get a register type receipt from store. Samsung would not take the online order print out for activating warranty / notifications. I looked at LG OLED, but because of window glare it would have carried a worst viewing in Living room. I have had no issues or complaints with this unit. Did not need a Q90T as it appeared more geared towards gaming. I wanted a good movie and sports viewing TV and I got it!

I have an Xbox One X, and like everybody else I am waiting for a Series X to land in inventory long enough to buy it. But, I went ahead and bought the TV for the Series X now, which I decided was going to be the Samsung Q80T 55”. I cannot tell you how scared I was that I made the right choice for the Q80T instead of the more expensive LG CX OLED. But after a week of the Q80T, I am SO HAPPY with the Q80T, and I am **SO GLAD** I avoided the LG CX!! The 2020 LG CX has three major issues with it right now that if you search the Internet you will find fairly easily: 1. The LG CX’s VRR is broken with the Xbox Series X, and it apparently can’t be fixed with a firmware update because it’s a hardware issue. 2. The LG CX HDMI 2.1 isn’t actually 2.1. 2.1 spec says 48 Gbps, but the LG CX can only push 40 Gbps. This means that the LG CX can never do 12 bit color. 3. OLED burn-in is a risk. My Q80T worked PERFECTLY out of the box with my Xbox One X. I used the HDMI cable that came with my Xbox One X, and the TV automatically turned on Game Mode when a game started running. Then I went to display settings in the Xbox and saw it was already running at 4K at 60hz. I messed with the settings on the TV and the Xbox just to get familiar with it, not that I needed to, and it JUST WORKS: the Q80T has an icon in the Home menu that shows you if it is running VRR and HDR, and every single game I ran had both of these icons running all the time whenever I spot checked it. Every single setting that the Xbox One X could push to had a green check mark next to it in the settings screen except for Dolby Vision, which the Q80T can’t do. Honestly, Dolby Vision is a proprietary form of the open HDR standard, and the Q80T is so good with the HDR implementation that I doubt your eye could tell the difference. So, if you have an Xbox One X (which pushes a 4K signal at 60hz unlike the regular Xbox One), and you want to upgrade your TV now to improve your visuals while you are waiting for a Series X to drop, you will not regret this TV at all. The picture quality is SO GOOD with the Q80T I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am with it. It’s so good, in fact, that there are only two reasons I would even buy an Xbox Series X at this point: 1. Quick Resume. 2. Ray tracing. I didn’t know what the big deal was with ray tracing until I saw a video of a car at night driving on a wet road: without ray tracing, no reflection of the headlights on the wet road. With ray tracing, reflections look almost photorealistic. This alone is worth the Series X upgrade. Bottom line if you are an Xbox gamer, you will NOT regret the Q80T. It works perfectly out of the box, VRR and HDR work together, the screen’s picture quality is outstanding, your have the full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, and you have no risk of OLED burn-in. Highly recommended. (Note: do not get the Q70T and below if you are looking to hook up an Xbox Series X, start at Q80T).
