Get the plasma!!!! not LCD/LED

If you are reading this you are probably struggling between a LDC/LED or Plasma. I looked at 100's of televisions over 1 month before buying. First...I'm not some plasma nut. Here is what I discovered. I have a couple of Samsung TVs. I have a 40 inch LCD, a 23 inch LCD and a 22 inch LCD computer monitor so I am falimilar with all of them. In the store you will be blown away at the vivid, sharp picture of the LCD/LED when side-by-side with the plasma. BUT you won't be watching 2 side-by-side at home so focus on the picture. When you really look at the colors the plasma is hands-down better. Look at a sunset on the plasma--you will see a wide range of reds and oranges. In the LCD you will see a white sky with a redish sunset. Look at green grass, etc., you will see many different shades on the plasma, on the LED it will be green grass. Blacks..no need to discuss plasma wins without question. The colors are MUCH better and look real, not just bright, like a LCD. I find that on the LCD's everything looks like a cartoon.
I took it out of the box, hung it on the wall and changed the picture mode to Dynamic...that's it. You can't go wrong. Also I have a fairly bright room and have had no issues with reflection, etc. If I stand in my hallway I can see my 40 inch LCD and this TV and I will tell you that the picture is like night and day. On the same channel the differences between the reds, greens, blacks etc, jump off the screen.
Do yourself a favor, save the money and get a better TV. Are you a sports nut? The plasma has none of that "boxing" when someone is running or moving fast.
As most flat TVs the sound is not great but If you are buying a 58 inch TV you are not (should not be) using the TV speakers. The 3D is nice but very limited. I have not used it enough to review that. I plan on using it more as sports are broadcast in 3D. But, if I were buying a TV for just 3D it would have been the Panasonic.

I have been researching which 3DTV I was going to install in my new home for about 6 months and let me tell you, after settling on this Samsung 58", I am so impressed with the picture quality of this TV, even when it's not displaying a 3D image, the images are so clear and crisp that the images seem to pop off the screen. I've had several comments about that on my TV that it looks like real life. After I mounted the TV, it's even more beautiful. I was trying to decide between this and the Panasonic V25 but decided to go with this because although the Panasonic slightly beat this in all the reviews, I couldn't get past that it was a plasma but as thin as most LEDs. The Panasonic is great and all, but after all the reports of the black levels fading over time and the unsightly design of the TV, I had to choose the Samsung. The only thing about this Samsung is that it does have a slight buzz in the speakers when the volume is off or low. I even hooked it up to a surround sound system and it does buzz from the TV still. I read reports about it before I purchased it but was told that if I hooked it to a proper surge protector that it would filter out that noise. Well I bought the $699 Panamax surge protector and it still buzzes. I'm not too bothered by it though because when you have the volume up (which is always) you can't hear it at all. (plus the TV is such an excellent performer visually that it makes up for a little buzz here and there) I would definitely recommend this TV over the Panasonic as well as any LED or LCD out there. Plasma is still king when it comes to picture quality, viewing angles and I forgot to mention that this I have 3 walls in my room that are full of windows and this baby reduces the glare big time, so all those LCD people who want to reduce glare, get this plasma because it has a better picture than a LCD/LED and it reduces the glare too.

This TV was purchased by my beautiful spouse as father's day present. I am very satisfied with this product. The clarity is amazing and it feels as if you are a part of the action. The 3 D features are great when watching a movie on the Blu -Ray player. Watching some of the 3 D program offered by our satelite company are just average at best. With that being said it does not take away from the 3 D features. I have owned this TV since November and waited until the after the Super Bowl to write a review. The TV can be seen at all angles unlike a LCD, I have three of those and can tell when viewing from a angle. I have no issues with glares or reflections, this TV was perfect for our basement. No just me but everybody that has seen this TV has fell in love with the vivid colors and clarity. I would suggest purchasing a nice home theater system to maximize your experience.

We are very happy with this purchase. Picture is great and 3D is really cool. Can't wait for more 3D content. The TVs ability to simulate 3D is pretty cool too. Some say it doesn't work well. I disagree. It isn't as good as native, but it's pretty darn good. Tip: there are some good aftermarket glasses available for less money.

This was a great buy,we purchase the samsung LED 3D,but we did not like it with the new technology of Edge Ligthing when you watch from any angle except on front of the tv the colors changes and they look fade out or wash out.but this TV is great you can stand on any angle and does not change the picture quality,I having try the 3D feature we are waiting for the prices to come down on the 3D starting kits.

this tv kills any lcd or led tv. has single panel screen instead of dual panel. 3d pops off screen. 2d to 3d conversion is nice. i love the matte finish bezel for less glare and distraction.remote is very cool looking.

I am extremely happy with this tv. The styling is better than expected. The brushed titanium looks great and the set is very thin compared to the last Samsung plasma I purchased. This plasma is so thin you'll find it comparable to the LED in styling.
However I am all about picture quality over aesthetics and this plasma is beautiful. Coming from a very nice samsung 120hz LCD the black/dark colors are amazing. No artifacts that I have seen and when I mute the tv I hear absolutely none of the buzzing noise I read about in previous reviews.
I purchased this tv primarily for the 2d performance but the 3d is very nice. It looks as if the screen is about 6 feet deep. I'd recommend this tv to anybody on the market. You'll pay twice as much for an LED that doesn't approach the picture quality of this tv.

I could not belive how great the picture looks. People always say plasma has horrible glare this tv does better in my living room then my lcd did. I got the tv as a replacement from geeksquad under my 4yr service contract when my sony could not be fixed. I love my tv.

ok if you buy this set make sure you shop online first and get the lowest price and hagle best buy --- i did :)
now to the goodies -- ok i upgraded from a sony 57" rear projection to this tv in the living room and all i can say is freaky quality. the picture is amazing and whats weird is i have a 42" lg 1080p upstairs and its 50 times better picture than that also i mean its weird - every tv show is like watching a documentary on the discover channel it's that clear - clear to the point it kind of changes the show and makes shows look a little fake sometimes and im being honest -- but thats not the tv's fault -- the picture is just fracking amazing and worth the money
cons:
i baught the samsung dongle & cant get the wireless dlna to see my downloaded videos yet that may be the built in DRM because it sees my computer and the sharing application but it wont show my video folders so i know nothing is broken but ill have to call samsung still on this. so you may want to get the 7000 vs 8000 its cheaper and the only difference is wirless dlna - because i have a LG networked blueray player and it streams my downloaded videos just fine and whats crazy this tv improves those also -- just amazing.

Not the cheapest TV on the market, but worth the cash. Great picture and sound is good, but I have a home theater so I never use the speakers on the TV. Lots of settings and the menus are well thought out. Now...if only my cable company would start to broadcast channels in 3D!

We were pleasantly surprised with the 3D effects. Donald at the Dublin store was awesome. His product knowledge is amazing. We bought the 3D DVD player and the Samsung Receiver. The only bad thing was the Anynet doesn't work.

I was all set up to buy the 54" Panasonic VT25 plasma and then this Samsung caught my eye. Had the chance to see both sets playing the same content side by side in the Magnolia store. Here are my thoughts on the Samsung:
Pro's:
* Overall TV design was nicer on the Samsung. The graphite grey bezel was attractive and the super slim design was eye catching. The thin clear edging (which is actually plastic, not glass) is kind of played out, but it looked ok on this set.
* Swivel tv stand is a nice feature
* This set can convert all content to 3D which is kind of neat, however keep in mind that it does not come with any sets of 3d glasses, as opposed to the Panasonic which comes with one. I watched some 2D content converted to 3D and it was ok, but not anywhere near as good as the Panasonic with a true HD 3D source.
* The remote control is very nice, a work of art.
* The TV seemed to have a lot of features but I unfortunately never got a chance to play around with everything.
* It has a "motion dejuddering" mode which is basically the same as Motion Flow that a lot of LCD sets have. Kind of neat when watching sports or anything where you want to feel like you are right there in person.
* Attractive pricing- at the time, the 58" samsung was on sale for $300 less than the 54" panasonic.
Cons:
* Noticed a good bit of line bleed when there were menus on the screen, especially when there was high contrast between the menu and the background.
* BUZZING! This is the reason I can only give the tv 2 stars and why I ultimately returned it and got the 54" panasonic that I wanted originally. All plasma tv's supposedly emit some buzzing sound, to some extent, at some distance, but this one buzzed so bad that I could hear it from 20 feet away. Even in low light scenes, where the contrast and brightness were very low, it made a very distracting buzzing sound. The only way to drown out the buzzing was to crank the tv volume up above 20, which was too loud for us for watching normal programming (news, sitcoms, etc.). Buzzing would get more intense as scenese got brighter, but when I went into the menu and adjusted the brightness to the minimum setting, it still buzzed like crazy. It might have something to do with the super slim panel, but I would rather have a thicker panel and no buzzing.
Unfortunately despite all the TV's strengths, I cannot recommend it to anyone due to the buzzing, and the reports I have read from other owners saying the same thing, meaning that it's not a fluke occurrence on my set only. Sorry Samsung, you had all the complaints from people regarding buzzing on last year's sets and you missed the mark again. Back to the drawing board!

This is the best entertainment purchase I've made! It is scary, crystal clear, black levels are black, the interface is simple and straight forward and it is thin and light. What more can I say?
Although it is costly, it is worth it.

AVOID SAMSUNG 3-D

SAMSUNG 3-D is a horrible product. I purchased a 3D TV, 3D Bluray and 7 pairs of 3D glasses on December 9th. Batteries in glasses work for only 40 minutes before dying. I have replaced the lithium batteries 6 times in each pair at $3 per battery!! Samsung customer service department is a joke, I have called 22 times without resolution. I sent 6 pairs of the glasses back to Samsung and they have only sent 2 pairs of USED glasses back to me. It’s Feb 4th and I have still yet to use this defective product. Avoid SAMSUNG like the PLAGUE!!!
