Q: Will it burn images in the screen like old plasma tv's if I play Ps3 games on it?
A: Although permanent burn-in is a rare occurrence, temporary burn-in or ghosting can be prevented or eliminated. There are two different kinds of active burn in protection features on the Samsung Plasma TVs. The first one is PixelShift (PixelShift can be adjusted on or off and allows for intensity level adjustments). This feature will basically move all your pixels, uniformly, a predetermined amount of pixel spaces in order to prevent a pixel from being lit in a specific pixel space for too long. However, if ghosting does occur, you can use the other anti-burn in feature, called Scrolling, to help refresh the screen. The Scrolling feature will "scroll" a gradient of black and white across the screen to help eliminate the ghosting, if any, that has accumulated on your panel. Both of these features can be found in the Picture Options section of the TV's menu. -MrSamsung
A: Although deciding which technology is better is purely subjective and based on your own tastes, I can arm you with the knowledge you need to make the right choice. Both provide an excellent HD picture, offer stunning arrays of colors, and of course, Samsung’s exclusive technologies which allow you to get the most out of either panel. LED is relatively new on the market, and uses specialized versions of the LED lights that have been used for years. It allows panels to be lit either from behind the panel (replacing the CCFLs with LEDs), or from the side using an efficient energy friendly infrastructure that emits light evenly behind the panel in order to illuminate the entire LCD panel equally, called EDGE-LED. EDGE-LED Technology has a few additional benefits in that the design of the LED panel can be slimmer than traditional LCD panels and reduces energy consumption. Plasma Televisions operate using a combination of gas and glass to illuminate the individual pixels, or light sections, within the screen. The life of a plasma panel is up to 100 thousand hours, allows an expanded viewing angle over LCD, and has a response time as fast as .001ms. All of the Samsung Plasma units have a feature called Screen Burn Protection, which helps reduce the effects of static images and provide a quality image for the life of the panel. -MrSamsung
Q: Does this Model Convert 2D images to 3D?
A: As a matter of fact, all of the Samsung 3D TVs offer the ability to convert 2D signals to 3D. That said, 2D signals can still be displayed as 2D by turning off the 2D to 3D conversion feature (a button on the remote allows for easy switching between modes). -MrSamsung
Q: How does the quality of the 58" plasma 860 series compare to the same 58" 8000 series 3D?
A: There are a few differences between the C8000 and the B860. 1. The C8000 offers a higher dynamic contrast ratio (7,000,000:1 vs the B860's 3,000,000:1) 2. Asides from the 3D, the C8000 offers these additional features: - Real Black Filter- for brighter whites & deeper blacks - Motion Judder canceler - Calibration Mode- Allows for calibration of the image on the TV itself. Q: Will any 3D glasses work with the 58" Samsung plasma 3D TV?
A: From the information I have, only the Samsung 3D glasses are 100% compatible with the Samsung 3D TVs. Every manufacturer offers different technology and connectivity for their 3D hardware even though the 3D itself is transmitted the same way (over HDMI 1.4). -MrSamsung
A: false, no such thing. It is either a plasma or LED. If you want richer darks and a television with minimal distortion when watching sports get a plasma.
Q: Can I access the internet via WIFI or do I have to connect a hard line?
A: As a matter of fact, the PN58C8000 will allow you to access Internet content though Internet@TV by either connecting your TV to a wired home network or a WiFi home network with a Samsung Linkstick WIS09ABGN. -MrSamsung
Q: the add says built in tuner what does this mean?
A: built in tuner refers to the use of the HD over the signal. Meaning, you don't need cable or Sat to veiw basic HD local channels. All you need is an antenna and your "Tuner" will tune to the HD local channels.
