ok, let me first tell you that i've never owned a plasma before. l was a regular customer who thought led and lcd provided a better picture because of how bright the picture looked. Note that you can't look at a plasma in a regular best buy store, the lighting is to bright. Make your way to one of their magnolia stores and see the tv under normal lighting and then compare the plasma and led and you will finally see what all the plasma owners having been bragging about. After getting the tv and watching blu ray's on the playstation 3 this tv is amazing. The picture blows the led and lcd away. I upgraded from the 46 A650 120 hrz touch of color and the 58 8000 plasma blows the lcd away. so here are my pro's and cons Pro = excellent picture quality unlimited viewing angle great color accuracy better 3d than the led set out there great set of features like facebook ect . style and thinnest plasma I've seen no buzzing sound at all as some reviews have stated Cons= remote - I play alot of games and I have to enter the menu to activate the game mode under general - they should made it easy to access- note that you must activate the game mode to make it lag free Wow that it the only thing I can complain about is the remote -

    Overall Very good TV

This TV has one amazing picture. Anyone who is looking for a great 3D plasma this TV certainly has it all. Feature set includes samsung Internet TV, 3D, a slew of picture options(for people like me), motion judder cancelling and cinema smooth, however the cinema smooth option does not work properly, as described below. First off I will say I was originally an owner of the PNc7000, but due to issues with the MJC(not being able to turn it off, namely) I returned my set for the 8000. I have not noticed any difference in picture quality between the two, and the only real difference between the 7000 and 8000 is the antiglare material used on the screen. Makes you kinda wonder if its worth the extra cash just for a few menu options and an antiglare reflective coating. For those on the fence, unless you DESPERATELY want the ability to toggle MJC, I would probably consider the 7000 since the price is lower and the whole MJC issue(not being able to turn it off) is now fixed on that set. They are the same panel, resolution, materials ect. Just something to consider. As far as performance, this TV will not disappoint. Colors are spot on and black levels are extremely deep(if there was one area where the 8000 MAYBE beats the 7000 it would be this, but dont quote me as I haven't had it professionally measured). The applications all work flawlessly and include such things as VUDU, Blockbuster, CinemaNow, youtube, facebook and so on. The MJC is useful during sports, but ultimately I hardly ever use it. As most know, it makes film content look terrible. The Cinema smooth feature works, but I still see flicker so it appears it doesn't properly handle 1080p/24fps sources. This to me is a bummer because not only does the 7000 include both MJC and cinema smooth(you can gain these features on the 7000 with a bit of ingenuity)but the 8000, considered samsungs flagship model, does not properly handle these sources. Its not a huge complaint as the cinema smooth feature DOES work, but those with a keen eye will notice the flickering from time to time. 3D is everything I expected and far superior to comparable Panasonic models. Crosstalk is extremely few and far between, which is most definitely a good thing. Both the 7000 and 8000 have excellent 3D. Overall a great TV, but the lack of differences between this and the 7000 make me wonder if the price is worth it. I'm feeling this more now that the MJC issues on the 7000 is fixed. Either way you definitely wont be disappointed with this TV, its quite a beauty. The picture quality on this TV is bar none, but definitely takes a bit of adjusting before it will look top notch. The out of box presets are too dull for me, and dynamic mode is too bright and overwhelming. Below I list my personal picture settings on the PNC8000. If you like the color pop of LCD but still want the obvious benefits plasma offers, you should be very happy with these settings. For those in darker rooms, dial down the cell light to 14 or 15. You may want to change the color temp as well, but thats up to you. I start with the CAL-DAY setting: Cell Light 20/19, Contrast 97, Brightness 45, Sharpness 30, Color 49, tint G50/R50, Black Tone: Dark, Dynamic Contrast: Med/low, Gamma +2, Color Space: Native, flesh tone -2, color tone: normal, HDMI black level: normal(wouldn't change this). White Balance: R-offset: 25, G-offset 25, B-offset, 26. R-gain: 25, G-gain: 25, B-gain: 38. I wont share my 10p white balance as it is somewhat subjective and requires a professional. I think it looks amazing, but others may disagree.

I did my research for months prepping for a new tv. I looked at everything from the Panasonic VT series to the new top tier LG. What struck me was the picture quality was excellent, apps were great, and the overall look (supermodel thin!). I had always wanted a Pioneer Kuro, and since those are no longer in existence I looked @ the Panny because it supposedly uses the same plasma screens. I did not agree that the black levels were at that level. The Samsung had great black levels, tons of options for configuring and the 2D to 3D was a great option. The price was well below the Panny and I didn't see how their extra cost made it better. The Samsung blew it away in all aspects. Plus, comparing the width of the two the Panny looked inflated! Pros: Everything, picture, 1080P content, inputs, options, PiP Cons: Non! Just need to get it past the 100hr watch mark to get it calibrated. As for the buzzing some have posted about... I haven't noticed it at all. Maybe it comes with using the TV speakers, but if you buy this TV you wouldn't do it justice if you ran them. A receiver and speaker setup is a must.

Great Plasma! I have enjoyed watching HD channels via time warner and u-verse! I am really enjoying the speed of U-verse with my new plasma. There have been some differences in colors and blacks with the switch from cable to fiber. I will need to have my television calibrated to see any differences. Overall, great picture and the glare in the daylight is not bad considering my living room is exposed to sunlight from the back of the room, that the plasma looks good regardless. The size and depth are great along with all the internet and 3D features. Overall, excellent buy with the bundle of the 3D blue ray and glasses. Great plasma for sports!! The sound is probably not the best but will be hooking up my surround soon via my receiver.

    Best TV I've seen

I couldn't be happier with my 58" Samsung Plasma! The picture quality is stunning and the 3D works amazingly well with 3D intent movies. The 2D to 3D upconversion does an Ok job, but I find that my eyes are more strained than just watching a regular 3D movie. The upconversion does not give you a full 3D effect, only a slightly greater depth to the picture. I can't stress enough on how great the picture quality is on this TV. The colors are true and the blacks are BLACK. You will however need to change some settings out of the box to get the appropriate brightness to the screen. The main setting to change is the "cell light". Turn it all the way up and your picture will be much brighter when you are on the standard setting. I've had the TV for about 3 months now and just had the calibration done last week. I was expecting to see a dramatic difference after the calibration, but to be completely honest, the picture looks better and the colors are more true, but I probably could have gotten away without doing the calibration. The main reason I did the calibration, was because BB told me the TV would run cooler and extend the life of my TV. That alone is worth the $200 to me. The picture is better though. The Geek Squad guy that calibrated my TV said that I have the second deepest black he has ever seen and was only outdone by the Panasonic TV that goes for about $1,000 more. The sound quality is what you would typically expect from a flat panel TV (very little bass). It does however have enough volume to fill a very large room. The only suggestion I would have for Samsung would be to add a feature that allows you to have PIP with 2 HD applications (example: PS3 and HD Cable TV at the same time). This would be very cool and convenient. I don't know of any TV that has this currently. Get this TV. You won't regret it!

I own 2 LCD's and have always told myself i wouldnt ever buy a plasma because i thought the LED picure would be a better just because it was slightly more expensive. Let me tell i was wrong! Come to find out LED's just cost more to build because there are more parts in them and they are thinner, this tv happens to be almost as thin as an LED from what i can see. I was set on buying the 55" samsung LED until i saw this. The 3D is amazing, and the picure is honestly the clearest i have ever seen. Not to mention the 2D to 3D feature only available with samsung works pretty cool also.

We purchased this TV as a replacement for a ten year old projection HD set for our family room, our main viewing room. We previously bought 2 other large HD flat screens for other rooms in our home, one a plasma and the other an LCD. This one is by far the best we have. The HD picture is the sharpest and the daylight glare, usually associated wth plasmas, is reduced. The 3D features are truly amazing. Although there is very little 3D currently being broadcast, we have seen several college football games broadcast in 3D by ESPN and the depth perception and clarity was comparable to being at the game live. We have also seen a 3D college football game broadcast by the Versus network and it was hard to watch -- very ghosty and not nearly as good as the ESPN broadcasts. On Demand 3D movies were excellant and easy on the eyes. 3D broadcasts are obviously still in its infancy and is a work in progress. One of the nice features of the Samsung is the simulated 3D which turns any 2D broadcast into a 3D. We have tried this feature extensively and although the 3D did not compae in quality to an actual 3D broadcast, it was watchable and was also easy on the eyes. At least temporarily, it allows you to experience the 3D effect before the networks and providers start offering actual 3D broadcasts on a regular basis. Lastly, the active 3D glasses -- it takes a little getting used to. When we were shopping for this TV we tried on various glasses from the different 3D TV manufacturerers, and we found the Samsung the most comfortable. Some other manufacturers' glasses were not as comfortable to wear, especially for an extended period of time. We purchased them in a bundle with a Samsung Blue Ray 3D player and a sample 3D Blue Ray disc with some IMAX type programs on it. The only negatives with the glasses are the cost. The bundle we purchased included 2 pair of glasses. Our family all wanted to watch in 3D so we has to purchase additional glasses which retail for about $100 each. We were able to cut the cost of purchasing 2 more by searching the internet for sellers of the "bundle" and buying the glasses in a starter kit with an animated 3D movie.

I spent many weeks searching for which 3d tv I would get. It basically came down between the Samsung and Panasonic (vt25) but in the very end I decided on the Samsung. The main key points in my decision was the cheaper price tag and the 2d to 3d conversion. I've had the TV for about 2 weeks now and all I have to say is that I'm very happy with it. The 3d visuals are really amazing rivaling that of what you see in the theaters. I tested the 3d with both Monsters vs Aliens and some PS3 3d game titles and all handled really great. There is some ghosting when you see 3d content but I was expecting that and it isn't to the point where its annoying. Based on some reviews I heard the Panasonic has comparable amount of ghosting but I can't verify that yet. The 2d to 3d conversion works really well too. Of course it won't be as great as the blue ray 3d titles but it still does a good job of giving the picture some depth. The 2d picture quality is superb with really good black levels. It also handles 1080p/24fp way better than the Panasonic displays I've seen with no visible artifacts. The apps option works really well and I was able to get Netflix up in very little time. The only problem I had is when playing a Netflix movie you get locked out from some of the menu controls so I recommend using the blue ray player apps instead. The sound was okay but if you have a TV like this then a receiver should be standard in your setup. Lastly, no buzzing. This was my biggest worry but thankfully I have not noticed any buzzing coming from the TV yet. If you're conflicted about either or then I def recommend the Samsung. It's a better choice all around and much more cheaper than the Panasonic.

The picture quality is great, including the deep black levels and it has all the feaures I wanted, like Ethernet/internet etc. I was planning on buying the Panasonic 58" V25 plasma, but with them still having the issue with the rising black levels, I decided to go with the Samsung and I am not disappointed!! I was so disappointed that I had to wall mount this tv since the stand that came with it was a thing of beauty and so is the remote with its backlight option. I cant say much for the speakers since I have a 7.1 system, but from the short time I was listening to them, they sounded very good for tv speakers. Oh, did I mention how slim this thing is? It's amazing that a plasma can be 1.5 inches deep.If your not sure if you want a plasma or LED LCD,get the superior plasma!! I have not tried the 3D feature yet, but I will do that after it's calibrated, which is free.

Got the christmas deal on the 3d blu-ray, kit and tv. Great quality at any price, but a fantastic deal at the price I paid. After researching settings and making the changes, the picture was amazing. The TV does the 3D but I bought it for the ratings on the picture and its met all my expectations. This is my 7th plasma, I have a Toshiba, Pioneer, Maxent, and two different Samsung plasma tv's. I bought the Samsung plasma after seeing the picture on my fathers LED 7000 series. If you can set the tv to where you won't have a window behind where you sit, or you have good window blinds, this tv will be a great experence for you. No unusal sounds either.

I choosed this one because plasmas have better picture quality than LED. ( Didn't like to loose the free 3D blue ray player with LED C8000 ). I was used to sony sound system and I guess Samsung has room for improvement there. I love the app store concept and hope to see more apps soon. If I can get CNN and CNBC app, I would cancel my cable right away. Pciture quality is stunning. I could adjust to the cool color scheme I wanted. Still getting used to stunning 1080p. 3D is amazing too. Hoping to get more 3D titles. Note: I don't hear any humming noise as other reviewers say on this site or some other sites. This is great !! Future needs 1) Built in wifi. 2) More memory as app store grows. May be thats why they have USB today. 3) More apps apps and apps !

Excellent picture, but not an internet TV

The picture quality of this TV is truly fabulous. I was particularly amazed at how good the picture was of a football game when the shot pans back to see all the players, which I think is one of the most difficult pictures for an HD TV. Most TV's have extremely noticeable fuzz and artifacts around the players, more so as they move faster. This one had very minimal artifacts in such sports shots, almost unnoticeable. Best I've ever seen. This alone makes the TV worth the money. But the TV is also equipped for internet TV. Here it really falls short. The network connection is just very slow, much slower than my home network. I get much better speed and a much higher quality TV picture on any computer. The best speed I could get out of the TV was 2mbs, and often it was half that or even lower. I also have a Samsung blu-ray player that appears to have the same internet software and probably also the same internet hardware. It was just as slow. I think Samsung just has a lousy setup for internet TV. I'm keeping this TV because of the excellent picture, but I assume I have to buy an external internet TV device down the road as more HD content becomes available, as this TV will not have the speed to handle that with any kind of decent quality. I contacted both Samsung and BestBuy to help me with this problem. Samsung would not acknowledge the problem and insisted it was my internet connection, even though a computer connected to the same ethernet port would always run at my full internet speed. BestBuy said this was as good as they've seen it get for this TV.

I've owned a lot of great tvs; the LG 47LH90, the Sony SXRD, along with Samsung's new LED 8000 series, and none compare this plasma. The picture on this set is razor sharp with accurate, saturated color. I also love all of the internet apps and find the interface to be user-friendly for the most part. In addition, this tv performs extremely well in a brightly lit room for a plasma--almost as well as an LCD with a matte screen. And finally, temporary image retention seems to be on par with the panasonic plasmas, which, seem to have it figured out. I think the only imperfect element of this tv is the very low volume buzzing noise it emits; I rarely hear it, but occasionally, it does distract me. All in all, I'd purchase this tv again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it to any family member or friend, especially if you have a surround sound system that will obviously prevent the buzzing that does come from the tv.

Has everything an LCD offer and more, in terms of brightness and pop and none of it's shortcomings. I've owned this tv over a month and I am still impressed with the picture quality, laser sharp and deep, saturated colors. A breathtaking tv on or off. 3-D is great. 2-D to 3D works surprisingly well (How did they do it ?) Blu-ray 2D movies are phenomenal. I love this tv. I've only had the tv for one day and I can't stop talking about how great it is! We had it mounted by the Geek Squad in less than 1.5 hours and i was ready to watch! The guys were very nice and professional, Theyconsulted w me what they planned on doing and came up w solutions for my setup situation. Once installed, I couldnt stop watching....HD channels are amazingly clear. The 3D is awesome as well. I'm looking forward to many more movies in this format. Just a suggestion if mounting on the wall with a standard non-tilting mount: Have a recessed outlet installed (easy to find at Lowe's) behind the tv, instead of a regular one. The power plug on this Samsung has a huge head that cant allow the TV to be flushed to the wall as much, therefore I had to use the spacers that came with my mounting kit to allow more space between the tv and wall to allow the plug to not touch the back of the tv. So my tv isnt as flushed as it could be. But it still looks great! A wireless LAN adapter had to be purchased ($80), but I hooked it up to my Samsung Blue Ray 3D player instead of the tv, since the updates are more affluent on the player than the TV itself, plus the apps between the two are the same anyway, This was the suggestion of the geek squad guys. Overall, im very happy with this purchase and looking forward to using it for a long time! Thanks!

The picture is absolutely stunning. It looks like you are looking out you window at a real scene. I cannot comment on the sound, because I have it going through a Bose system (which I would suggest). My wife could not care less about the TV that we watch, but the first night that we were watching it she could not believe it. The other great feature is the slim design of the TV. It looks like a picture on the wall if you use the right mount to mount it. Angle views are also great, even at about 30 degrees.

History: I am on my 9th HDTV so I have been through most. Im always upgrading. I have one LCD in my house (will never again, its personal preference though) and the rest plasma's. I will only buy plasma's because of the contrast ratio (how deep the black levels get) because not an LED or LCD can acheive the contrast that a plasma can, and they've also got rid of the screen retention lately (the "burn in"). 3D: The 3D in this TV is awesom. I got the Monsters vs Aliens with the start up kit and it was awesome. Things were coming out the screen in my face the first 2 minutes of the movie. Picture: Hands down the best picture quality because its a Magnolia Product. Sound: Come on, a TV like this NEEDS to be hooked up to some sort of surround sound system. You're kidding yourself if you don't. Internet TV: I have had this TV since the NBA finals in June andI just got around to messing with it. HULU, is great for having on demand tv shows. Pandora is awesome, it might replace my iPod. And I already have a blockbuster account with online so I won't be renting any movies off my TV for extra, but if you dont have Netflix or Blockbuster online it can be great. Overall: THE BEST FRIGGIN TV EVER, GO BUY IT NOW

Well I had a 60" LG Plasma for the last couple years and I loved it. I decided to take the plunge in the LED LCD arena and bought the 60" Sony KDL60EX700. Right out of the box it had a beautiful picture. It took some getting used to the sharp picture with the muted colors making things look kinda real life. Then comes this thing I couldn't for some reason get over. The viewing angle. In my living room if i stepped outside of this small arc the picture washed out. It just bugged me to no end so i went back to Best Buy and traded it out for the Samsung and after laborious tinkering with the set up the picture is awesome. Every bit as good as the Sony LED and I can sit off center wherever in the room and it is just as clear as sitting directly in front.. As a bonus i also got the Samsung starter 3D package for free. BD 3D player, 2 pair of glasses and Monster vs Aliens. So I am now very happy with my purchase I rated sound 4 stars cause who buys a TV like this and listens through TV speakers?

I've gone through quite the adventure over the last 5 months with purchasing my new TV. I thought it would be helpful to others if I shared. Long story short, I've gone through the UN55B6000, PN58B860, UN55C7000 and PN58C7000 and PN58C8000. We moved into a new apartment, and needed a new tv to go over our fire place. We were upgrading from a 5 year old Samsung 720p DLP TV. --UN55B6000-- Loved the form factor of the TV. Got it home and after a few days I was just unhappy with the overall look of the LCD/LED. I really saw a lot of motion blur. --PN58B860-- I returned the LED TV and went with this TV. I absolutely LOVED the picture quality of the TV. But it buzzed terribly. It sounded like a bug zapper. I could actually hear it over top of the regular tv volume at a 12 ft distance. Best Buy swapped it out for another one. The second PN58B860 buzzed even louder. I gave it about 3 weeks to see if it would get better but it didn't. So I returned it and waited for the 2010 models to come out. --UN55C7000-- When I heard that the new 2010 models were out, I went down to my friendly Best Buy to hopefully pick up the new plasma. Unfortunately, they only had the new LED in. The sales person told me that all of the issues were fixed on this set that I was unhappy with previously with the UN55B6000. He convinced me to give it a try and that if I were unhappy with it that they would gladly take it back. Sure there was still lighting in the corners and some motion blur, but it was much better. I still wasn't sold on this set, as I LOVED the PQ on the plasma. I decided to go with the plasma and return this set. --PN58C7000-- Awesome picture quality - however, it's stuck in the soap opera mode and can't be taken out. To me and everybody I know, it looks like a soap opera in fast forward. I can't stand to watch the tv in this mode. It's very odd to me that it's this way, as only the 8000 is supposed to have MJC, so why does the 7000 have it but not have a way to take it off? I found a work around that allows the user to turn the game mode on/off that then caused the MJC to turn off. As a result of this, I returned it to Crutchfield and upgraded to the 8000 series. By the way, can somebody explain to me who would want to buy the 7000 series plasma and be stuck with having MJC on? I just can't figure it out! --PN58C8000-- I LOVE this TV. Seriously, it's amazing. I like the dark grey bezel better than the black of the 7000 series. Something about it looks more gadgety/elegant. This TV makes a sound when it's on. I can hear it 12+ feet away when sitting right in front of it. It's definitely not a buzz like the PN58B860 that I had before. It sounds more like a fan running. When the volume is at a regular volume I don't notice it at all. When you engage the 3D mode, it gets MUCH louder though. Still hardly notice it. In comparison to the Xbox 360 fan noise, it's much quieter.

Hopefully if your reading this your doing your homework. I have had this TV for three weeks now and i have to say it is the best picture i have ever seen. I don't have one negative to say about it. Unless your looking for something specific that this doesn't have, this is your tv. I am however upgrading to the 63 inch. 58 inch is a great size and perfect for me for everthing but Blu Ray black bars on the movie, it is smaller than i'd like in that manner. I have read other reviews about the speaker on the tv being a little under par but if you are spending this kind of money, who is really using the tv's speakers. Besides what can you expect on a 1.5 inch width with speakers on the back. I wouldn't worry about it. It is very difficult adjusting the colors primarily red. There must be 20 to 30 color adjustments. However these are just adjustments and NOT a flaw in the TV. Awesome TV!
