    Best Out There

I'm a tech aficianado and I ‘ve been shopping around for a new TV for the past year now. So I finally broke down and bought this 65" and my family and I could not be happier. I have to say that I'm confused at some of the negative reviews written here - but I’ll tell you what I’ve experienced that may contradict others. A) No problems with "light leakage" and I could not say if this just luck of the draw or if Samsung did something to rectify the problem. B) No problems with the TV dropping out of the Wifi, Netflix, Amazon Prime...etc. Perhaps the problem other people are having is with their internet speed and internet/cable providers. We do have better cable and faster internet speed than what is considered standard. C) At first we did notice that when watching cable we there was some "graininess' and problems with the fluidity of action. But then I realized that our HDMI cable was outdated. So buying the latest UHDTV HDMI Cable (not cheap) for the Cable Box to help fix that issue. Obviously, your standard cable channels will still look "grainier" than your HD channels - but our HD and 3D channels are amazing. I ended up also purchasing the same HDMI cable for our Bluray/3D player and wherever else needed. Other Pros: 1) Gaming with this TV is amazing - no problems and no complaints. 2) Comes with its own HDMI Cable Connection Box. Less cable clutter since you no longer have a large amount of cables connected directly to back of the TV 3) Silver and sleek design - even the TV stand is beautiful. Although, we still opted to have it mounted on our wall. 4) Super slim and light – about 60lbs without the TV stand. 5) SMART TV is so useful – We no longer need to go through other devices to get into Netflix, Hulu, AmazonPrime, YouTube, Emails, Surfing the Web… etc. 6) We've only had the TV for about a month and I've still haven't tried everything this TV is capable of yet. However, nothing is perfect – So here are a few minor things that weren’t necessarily a dealbreaker for me… CONS: 1) Do not like the need to change Picture Mode for how you are using the TV to get optimum picture results – Movie, Standard, Natural, and Dynamic Mode. 2) Remote is a bit unimpressive and cannot be used as a Universal Remote. I know they wanted to make a remote with the least amount of buttons on it but it just ends up being confusing and you have to take extra steps just to get to from A to B. 3) Initial issues with my wireless speakers. My speakers kept dropping and sometimes there was a delay. Eventually I had to reintroduce my speakers so that the TV would recognize it and now it now works perfectly. However I still can’t control the volume of the wifi speakers with the TV remote. So I continue to use the old universal remote that was include by my cable provider. 4) Only includes one pair of inactive 3D glasses (cheap kind with batteries)?! With these price points, I would think Samsung would include (at least) four 3D glasses, the rechargeable kind. 5) Expensive, high-tech toys call for expensive, high-tech accessories and system upgrades. To get the most out of this TV, you really need to upgrade and update your entertainment system - HDMI cables, Bluray/3D Player, Internet Speed, Cable/Satellite. Obviously, this can be pricey but this TV only does best with the latest tech out there. Regardless of the negatives I’ve given, I do feel this is the best TV out there and I would still give this a 4.9 out of 5 (So I’m giving it 5 stars on website). Also, the fact that it was on sale at BestBuy for $1000 less than the retail price… sealed the deal for me. The pics I've included does not do justice to the amazing scale, clarity, and picture of this TV. So I highly suggest stopping by your local store in person to truly experience it.

Bought this TV for nearly $2K in march 2016. It was pretty good up until March 2020. Now there are white lines on the Left and Right of the screen. Research says this is 'dead pixels".

This is by far the best tv I have ever owned! The colors are simply amazing. Grey is excellent and black color really good. The 65 in is perfect size setting about 12 ft away. I have the Samsung connected to my Apple Airport and Comcast Xfinity for great internet access....be sure to use cat 7 Ethernet cables to make the connections. The Samsung remote is great but takes a little getting used to. Smart menus are very easy to navigate. I was fortunate to find tv at Best Buy for $1999 just before price increase of $500. This Samsung 4K 3D tv is awesome and I would purchase again and certainly recommend. I looked at the curved JS9000 but wanted a flat tv for my wall mounting. Great purchase!

Absolutely Amazing Picture With Many Option

I have been looking at this and another brand tv (65" LG OLED) for several months. I have reviewed both tv's and just couldn't get myself to pay $5000 for the LG. That being said I am so really happy with my purchase. The picture quality is phenomenal. The options and quality have superceded all my expectations. The upscaling is beyond what words can say. I did go a head and purchase a new Samsung 3D Bd-j7500 Blu-ray player to compliment the new tv. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The only downside to my purchase was i didn't take advantage of the Black Friday Deal. Thanks again Best Buy!

I purchased this TV on Black Friday and the first one i received had a dent on the top of the TV :( so I boxed it up and returned it tho the store. They didn't have any in stock but had another one sent to me about 10 days later. This one was fine. Its was a sunny day and I did notice a glare off the screen so I would recommend a low light room at all times for this TV. At low light, This TV is hard to beat and at the black Friday price, this TV can't be beat. My cousin had purchased the 9000 curved and you can't see any difference in picture and looks a bit smaller due to the curve. He spent $1000 more. The remote is great! like having a Wii remote for your TV. Only issue I was having was Anynet feature keep disconnecting and I really didn't know what that feature was doing anyway so I turned it off. No more issue. 4k content is still pretty rare at this time but with a high speed internet connection youtube offers enough to amaze yourself when you need it. Thanks Samsung and Bestbuy for this amazing TV for a great price! I'll be back soon.

Lets start off by saying that this tv is completely amazing. With that being said, I did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. I was lucky enough too catch it on sale. I am coming from a 32" Toshiba 1080P TV, it lasted me 5 or 6 years so i cant complain, it served its purpose. I am completely in awe of the color this tv can display. All the shows I watch are just that much better with the 4K quality from this tv. I just recently watched The Martian in 3D Blu-Ray with a friend and we were both just extremely impressed with the quality of the picture, as well as the 3D side wowed us as well. I was not looking for the 3D on a TV so i just consider this as a bonus. If i had to say a possibly negative thing about this tv is that you can tell when something is not being broadcast in 1080P as some on demand stuff is broadcast in 720P. With the quality of everything else this does not even bother me.

Best Flat UHD 4K TV Available

My outstanding Panasonic ZT60 failed and I had to replace with a current LCD display. That is a tough replacement and it took me a few tries and LOTS of research to land at the Samsung JS8500. For my theater room, the curved screens just did not work. Among the flat panel displays, I also wanted to make sure I got a full 10-bit panel, for future proof this Fall with HD Blu-ray and the extended color depth. This TV is almost the only model available, aside from the Sony 930c and 940c which are quite a bit more expensive. It has taken me quite a bit more time to work through the menus and various screen settings (compared to the Panasonic), to get the proper calibrated viewing I was hoping for. The various ways that Samsung processes the image mean that you have to really read carefully and try different settings before landing on the right image for your preferred content. I'm not a fan of the external connection box and only use a single HDMI cable to my Yamaha receiver and the RF input (over-the-air HD is the best!). The connecter feels flimsy and easily breakable. In fact, I had to remove the TV from my Chief wall mount twice to replug the cable back in. I probably won't mess with it again, so I suppose I'll forget the inconvenience. Love the remote and how it feels in my hand. Easy to use and comfortable. The software updates have been regular and most services are flowing well. I do have issue with their Crackle app. The overall resolution is poor on the menus and the streaming is not great and poor quality. I can switch to my Sony blu-ray player and all is sharp and clear. Both are plugged in via wired Ethernet, so I can only assume the app is just not optimized yet for the Samsung Tizen OS. Only other issue has been getting consistent HMDI ARC response. The TV often switches back to the internal speakers at startup and I have to select through a couple menus to route back to my receiver. Again, hopefully software updates will clear that up. I look forward to trying HD Blu-ray on this very soon!

    Expensive But Few Complaints

I've had this TV for a couple of months now and overall I am pretty happy with it. The picture quality is outstanding. I noticed a few black uniformity issues in the first few weeks of ownership - a little bit of clouding and light bleed on the edges - but light rubbing with a dry microfiber cloth and continued usage cleared all of that up. The JS8500 ain't cheap, but it does offer a couple of things that I felt provided at least a limited amount of "future-proofing". Aside from the "Nanocrystal" color technology - perhaps new for Samsung, but Sony has had "Triluminos" for a few years now and it is much the same - this TV also comes loaded with High Dynamic Range (HDR) capability and the nifty One Connect Mini, an outboard connections box that should allow for future connection upgrades (like, HDMI) if not much more. I like the idea of being able to upgrade the HDMI connections by purchasing a new One Connect versus having to buy a new TV. HDR content is already available and should be more widely available in the coming years. It's nice having that playback capability built in. This TV is also a picture and color tweaker's dream. 2-pt and 10-pt white balance adjustments and the best motion (judder and blur) software in the business make the JS8500 among the easiest TVs to dial-in with pinpoint accuracy. Mine lives on the stand. The stand is quite sturdy (TV weighs nearly 80 lbs, despite the thinness) and the metallic finish is attractive. Initially, the TV was slightly crooked on the stand. Best Buy delivered and set it up and I didn't notice that it was slightly canted to one side for a few days, but I was able to gently grab and apply pressure on top of the one side to get it into proper alignment. The screen has a high-gloss finish. When the TV is off, it nearly doubles as a mirror, but when the TV is on it does a great job of minimizing reflections and really helps the contrast and colors of this TV stand out. I don't care for the remote control. It is rather small and does feel nice in the hand, but I'd much prefer a remote with real numbers and a button that takes you directly to picture settings. The SMART TV hub works fine. It connected to my wireless internet quickly and without fuss. I have very slow service (DSL), so I have not been able to take full advantage of the apps and other smart features that this TV offers. I just know that they work. This TV does need an internet connection to receive over the air software and firmware updates. On my slow DSL, those updates can take many hours. That's really about the only long-term downside I've experienced with this TV. On the one hand, it's good that Samsung pushes out those updates to customers, but I hate that I can't actually, you know, watch TV while it's updating. I shopped TVs for months before making this purchase and I believe the JS8500 compares well with the Sony X930C. The colors and picture on the Sony might be more appealing to most (colors are a little more natural and the out-of-the-box settings are pretty excellent), but the side speakers add length that my entertainment center could not accommodate and it also costs nearly $1K more than this Samsung. In the end, those factors made the decision for me to buy this model. $3K is still a lot for ANY television, but, if you can swing it, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the JS8500.

The picture quality and contrast are exceptional and I find the OS the be very easy to use and navigate for Netflix, Amazon, etc. I purchased a XBR65X850 that I returned to purchase this set. In comparison, the Sony just did not blow me away in the same way that the Samsung does. The picture was not as life like and colors are much richer on the Samsung. My daughter really likes the pointer on the remote. I have owned and still own several Samsung sets. They have always been my personal favorite compared to the competition.

I had a 60 inch led 120hz Samsung before this and it was calibrated. Thought it was a good picture but after having this new tv for 3 days now the picture and colors are amazing. It blows my old Samsung out of the water. Amazing colors, crazy dark Blacks. It makes everything look better including 1080p content or even just cable content that's 720p everything looks extremely better and I'm very satisfied.

Big step up from old DLP

This TV is really thin. It was a big step up from the living room DLP we had. I read reviews of a number of TVs and checked specs. I got this one because we have a Netflix plan and there are some good shows in 4K on Netflix, but you have to have a TV that Netflix supports for 4K otherwise you won't get the 4k stream. This TV does support 4k streaming from Netflix, which makes the shows great, provided you have an internet connection fast enough to handle it. I have 300 mbps from Time Warner, and even with my Nest cameras connected and broadcasting I haven't had any real issues with the build in Netflix app on the TV. Amazon instant is another story, sometimes that starts a little slow and buffers a little, but usually catches itself up. The TV has brilliant colors and is very bright and when the show goes dark, so does the TV. The screen is a bit glossy, so if you have a lot of reflection from sunlight or light from windows, in the daytime it can affect the ability to see it a little, but not much. It's just that bright. There are settings to choose from for darker picture and such if you like that, and if you have any issues with motion stutter, you can turn certain features off that make that better. I don't care much for the remote control. The buttons are not easy to distinguish with your fingers and you'll find you hit the wrong thing frequently unless you look. Why they can't all take a hint from how TiVo makes remotes I don't know, that's the best remote ever made, no mistaking those keys. I also don't like that there is no on / off button except for the remote. I sometimes like to walk by on the way to bed and turn it off, but have to use the remote to do that now. Sound is only so so on this TV, small size means small speakers. Get a sound bar or other sound system if you're spending this much on watching TV. Otherwise, I've had it for a good 5 or 6 months I think and no issues so far. Software updates have come from time to time and it will update itself and then restart itself on its own if you're not paying attention. I hope this one lasts for many years. Fingers crossed.

Had to replace my old rear projection TV. Setup was super easy. After I turned it on, placed it next to my old HD TV. Could not believe how big the difference was! Tons of apps that I will never use, but nice to know that they are there. Really only use Netflix and Amazon right now. The upscaling to 4k is really amazing. Really glad we got this TV

Very clean design with minimal borders very sleek. Be careful not to grab too hard when lifting it to mount or just to put on a table. The metal frame is very soft and I could see I squeezed too hard and had some slight bent but it's ok can't really see. The 3D is super beautiful and the 4K is very amazing. I only use a HD antennae and Internet both surprising is crystal clear. Got it on sale during Black Friday week. Really happy with it.

The tv setup easily after getting used to the remote. Some up converted sources were great, xbox was a bit ticky until I turned off Auto Motion Plus and put it in game mode. Wish the game mode wasn't buried under the settings menu as well. 1080p 3d sources up convert well from Oppo BDP-103. Overall good blacks and picture quality. It is pretty amazing how well some sources up convert to 4k. I also like that Samsung released a patch of update the 2015 models for HDR. Slow upconversion came from Netflix from my xbox one and htpc. Both run natively 1080p and we're ticky when displayed.

Purchased this TV on Black Friday after upgrading from a 50" Panasonic Plasma. The picture on this new 4k TV is absolutely stunning. I was skeptical of the silver bevel but mounted on my wall, it looks very good. Blacks are deep and colors are vivid, just an amazing TV. Very easy to set up. Would recommend customizing your picture though to get the best picture for your location.

I had originally purchased at Sony 65 inch TV, but the light bleed on it was terrible. I brought that back and purchased the Samsung. This has a beautiful picture with no light bleed. The colors really stand out. I was never sold on the 3d features, but after seeing them on this TV I am really impressed. I can see the 3d better on this TV then I could in the movie theaters.

This is our second 4k smart TV and we are hoping that we have better luck with this one than the first. The picture quality is excellent ~ a joy to watch. The definition is almost uncanny and the colors are bright and vibrant. Especially with sports, movies and nature shows, you almost feel like you are there. The smart TV interface is easy to use and intuitive. If you purchase this TV, I would also recommend upgrading to a fast, new 3200 Gbps wireless router as the demands on your home network will increase dramatically. It's worth the extra $300 -- we noticed a tremendous difference when we upgraded - we have multiple devices -- 2 smart TVs, a home theater system, laptops, game consoles, tablets, music streamers & smart phones.

Very good picture quality, but you must be sitting AT LEAST 8 feet away, 10 to 12 feet away is the best distance to view the best picture quality. Perhaps the TV needs tweaking to be able to sit a bit closer, because I was told that you can sit closer to a large TV that is 4K vs non 4K; I hope that once I can get 4K content, I will be able to sit closer. Saw the same TV at Costco and it appears you can stand closer to it and still get very good picture quality, so I assume this is because they have a DVD or something looped to it providing 4K content. I really don't understand why a TV at this price only includes one pair of 3D glasses. The picture is very bright and colors pop, however, when watching dark scenes, you lose detail and can't see some things that I am able to see when watching my 4 yr old Sony TV and I think that has been an issue with Samsung for a long time and why I went with Sony several years ago. You will never know you are missing important details in a scene unless you have two TVs to compare. Also, because this is an edge lit LCD TV, you get flash lighting in the corners of the screen during dark scenes. I know the manufacturers use edge lighting to make their TVs thinner for those who want to mount them on the wall, but I would rather have a TV that is a little thicker with back lighting which would provide a better picture with more contrast. Bought the TV at the North Olmsted store for $2,600 and the sales manager Frank assured me that this price was the lowest it would be, even on Black Friday, so I relied on his representation and bought the TV only to find out later that on Black Friday, it went down $600 for a price of $1999.99; luckily, since I have an Elite Membership, I had 45 days for price matching and I kept checking the prices every week just to make sure and Best Buy gave me the price difference. If I had not questioned what the manager told me and not kept checking the price, I would have paid $600 more for the TV than I had to. Overall, a very good TV, a bit overpriced, but much less that an OLED.

We had a 55" Samsung model for years now and let me tell you, this one is next generation stuff. It not only shows normal HD well, but it really shines with 4K content. I let it play some video content from my PC in the other room in 4K, One word. Awesome! Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube have 4K content out already to really see the clarity in the panel. I can't wait to game on it and see all the great colors and speed. It is the 240 motion rate model, and is even 3D capable.
