The most amazing TV watching experience!

I purchased the 65" model for my living room and the 55" model for my bedroom. My living room TV is paired with Definitive built-in surround sound system. I get the most amazing TV/movie watching experience in my living room. It is controlled by a Logitech Harmony remote through a Denon receiver. Just one controller for every IR controlled device. You can't just rely on this TV's speakers. As with any other TV set these days, their speakers are worthless. A nice speaker set will complete your TV. My bedroom set has a Bose Solo 15 speaker, which is an Okay product. I am very happy with what I got. My only complain about this TV is that after knowing how beautiful a TV watching experience can be in my living room, I can't get used to watching TV at other places. This TV is just superior to anything I had experienced before and most others available on the market.

    Beautiful 4K tv

My old 51" projection tv was slowly going bad. I looked at Sam's club and Best Buy for products and Consumer Reports for their reviews. I boiled it down to a 60 inch Samsung 4K as the best value for the money. However, Best Buy put their 65" 4K on a bigger sale and it looked good from Consumer Reports standpoint. I checked to find a Besy Buy store that had both the 60 and 65 in stock so I could look at both. The store was not local, but I traveled to it anyway. The 60 and 65 at the store looked great, but the price on the 65 was hard to beat so I decided to spend the extra on the 65. I customized the picture the suggested way Consumer Reports suggested (firmware being different between what was on the new Samsung tv and what CR had on their test) that picture was just below great, so I set it back the what Samsung set at the factory and it was great. Note that I saw the screen get dark as the day went on and to me it got too dark. I turned off the auto adjust for room lighting and the screen went bright again. After that adjustment it has a beautiful image and is a joy to watch. This is after having the set less than two months.

The picture quality and features are great for this TV. The Samsung customer service is a joke. Best Buy was very helpful. The TV needed to be upgraded out of the box before it would work. Even though the TV has remote maintenance capable, Samsung could not update remotely. I could reach the upgrade from the TV's web browser, but could not upgrade from there. You have to download the file to your PC, extract the file and put on a thumb drive I had to provide unless I wanted to wait 2 weeks for them to send me one with the update. This took 3 of their techs to figure this out. 2 day to get a TV to work out of the box....beyond ridiculous!!!! When I expressed my displeasure with Samsung, they responded with "that is the best we can do."

So, I got this TV finally yesterday! It was nearly impossible to get my hands on! However, totally worth the wait! When you turn it on with basic settings, it looks really grainy. I am very familiar with home theater equipment and I would definitely recommend getting this thing calibrated by a professional with the right equipment! Overall: 3/5 at out of box settings; Calibrated: 5/5 without question! And yes, this is a pic of the TV after calibration!

I mounted this TV on the wall using a tilt mount which was recommended by the store employee. Not so sure that you need a tilt mount if you watch from a static location. Lessons learned were to make all connections, including the power cord before putting it on the wall. I did not have the power cord connected and had to take the TV back down. The picture is as advertised and I did a lot of research before dropping $2500.00 on a TV. I initially was not happy with the settings for viewing movies and also I was not willing to pay Geek Squad to calibrate the TV. I googled others who are much more adept at picture calibration and used their settings. Wow, the picture is great and I am amazed every time I watch a movie or regular programing. People have complained about the TV sound, but what do you expect for a panel that is so thin. I upgraded my receiver and am able to use the ARC HDMI input. If you have the resources, this is a great TV, if not then there are some other great choices available.

Read reviews and was a little apprehensive. Positives: easy set up, great picture, connect one worked great, great price before superbowl. Negatives: low light scenes are pretty dark, remote doesn't work efficiently with AT&T U-verse receiver. Andrew at the Folsom store was awesome.

bought this tv in 2016 and it still works. This tv has it all. 4k, hdr, and 3d. The hdr is lower then hdr10 but to be honest I can't tell the difference between hdr10 and what ever this tv is. And when i bought it I didn't even know it had hdr because, when you look at the specifications, it even say it has hdr. And how I found out was when sony released an update for the original ps4 to enable hdr, my ps4 said my tv could do hdr. To adjust the settings. The only thing wrong with this tv in 2020 is that it doesn't support alot of the new apps in 2020 like Disney plus. And am sure they don't make this tv any more.

Lets start off by saying that this tv is completely amazing. With that being said, I did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. I was lucky enough too catch it on sale. I am coming from a 32" Toshiba 1080P TV, it lasted me 5 or 6 years so i cant complain, it served its purpose. I am completely in awe of the color this tv can display. All the shows I watch are just that much better with the 4K quality from this tv. I just recently watched The Martian in 3D Blu-Ray with a friend and we were both just extremely impressed with the quality of the picture, as well as the 3D side wowed us as well. I was not looking for the 3D on a TV so i just consider this as a bonus. If i had to say a possibly negative thing about this tv is that you can tell when something is not being broadcast in 1080P as some on demand stuff is broadcast in 720P. With the quality of everything else this does not even bother me.

Great picture but shuts off/on at times

This has a GREAT picture! But 10 minutes after it was installed (by Geek Squad) the TV kept shutting off & on all by itself. It would flick to a black screen so quickly (in the middle of a show) and did so about 3 times in a minute (I pulled my phone out & got it on video). I then called Geek Sqd & was on the phone for 30-40 minutes. The girl said OH that's a known issues - I said, why didn't they tell me when I purchased this 5 days ago?? Then she backtracked & said it just happened a few days ago. Then we got disconnected (my fault not hers) & I got someone else who did NOT know about this 'known' issue & he remoted in & reset it to factory settings telling me it had updates - which made NO sense whatsoever since the installer just set it up & was only gone for 10 minutes! The my remote control didn't work after we did this & he kept insisting that it had nothing to do with the reset when in fact it did since I told him it took the installer some time to get the remote to work. So I had to deal with that. I still have occasional issues with it shutting off/on but it appears mainly (but not 100%) when we're watching DVR or On Demand & you have to go back to catch the part you missed when it shut off. Otherwise, it's a great TV!

I did a lot of research prior to buying this TV. I can now say after 30 days with this TV that I am satisfied with my purchase. Pros: The picture quality is AMAZING and there is no screen like it today! The 3D function is outstanding and looks beautiful! Every single person that has been in my home has made a comment about how gorgeous it looks, a game changer to bringing people over! Cons: I only have one beef with this TV. I also own a 65 inch 4k (no 3d function) and it works smoothly with all of my devices. I expected the same out of this. However, my Apple TV Remote won't turn the TV on or control the volume. I have tried controlling the volume to my Klipsch soundbar with the TV Remote and hasn't worked (regardless of Tech help). It's a small annoyance at times. Overall, great product and the best that Samsung offers!

I purchased this TV about 2 weeks ago and I can't say enough good things about it. The picture is so clear that it makes you wonder how you lived with 1080p beforehand. But I will warn you it takes some time of working through all of its features before you get this picture. Out of the box it looks good but give yourself an hour or so and you will not believe the difference. If you have a Xbox One or PS4 you will see a drastic difference as well. I play Destiny on Xbox One and it looks amazing. One thing you will have to do with FPS or action games is switch over to game mode every time. Without this switch you will notice a substantial lag that will make for a not so pleasant gaming experience. Once you switch over to game mode though it looks amazing. The vivid picture does change a little bit but im sure it is to account for the refresh speeds. I did an awful lot of research before buying a TV in this price range and through all my reading I saw that Hight Dynamic Range (HDR) was extremely important to future proof your investment and this TV has it. The other model I looked very closely at was the new Sony model in the same 55 inch set. Both had amazing picture but the HDR coupled with the slightly better picture in my opinion I chose this model. I know many people say there isn't much 4K content out right now and that is fairly true. But I have watched a fair number or blu rays the past two weeks and they look stunning. I turned on the UHD upscale and it creates a far better picture than my prior 50 inch LED 1080p TV. One that was particularly amazing was Lucy. The colors are so vibrant its hard to look away.

The setup is easy, the picture is great. It occasionally will drop out of the current HDMI input into one that is not being used. I have my satellite box, blue ray player and a VHS run through an Onkyo AVR with the AVR plugged into HDMI 1. Occasionally it will drop into HDMI 2 or TV input in the middle of a show and have to be manually reset. I have contacted Samsung and updated the firmware but it did not fix the problem.

Picture quality is out of this world. Colors are vibrant, motions are fluid, and details are clear. Takes watching Blu-rays to a whole new level with a 4K upscaling blu-ray player. The 3D is mind-blowing. I now prefer to watch movies in 3D.

We bought this tv after several weeks of research. We love the size and clarity of the picture. Setup was a breeze. The tv was up and running in just about 1/2/ hour and most of that time was unpacking it from the box. Assembly instructions were clear and easy to follow. I know some have complained about the connection box being separate from the tv but I kinda like it. Adding additional devices to the tv (blu-ray, game, etc) is super easy and you don't have to move the tv around to find a vacant hdmi port. The sound from the tv was more than adequate. In fact, it sounded good but we connected it to our soundbar and it sounds even better. Best Buy, of course, has a price match guarantee; however, we have not find this unit at a lower price than theirs.

    4K TV Judder

Love the sharpness, love the depth of Color, love the depth of field....hate the Judder. Surprised I read nothing about this in reviews. The Action Motion Plus menu item can be set to Off...the Judder will stop, but, the depth of field disappears. I wish I understood the issue better, it has something to do with the particular programs Frame Rate...so it originates from the Broadcast and the reason some shows are fine, others will display some Judder (or as I call it, shutter). I have 4 Samsung TV's ...not one has had an issue so I am convinced the issue is not from the TV.....its the Broadcast. None the less, its annoying because you either turn off the Feature which corrects the in-balance frame rate of the Broadcast of the show being watched, or leave it on and feel like your watching for the next Judder. For now I prefer leaving the Motion Action Plus menu item at factory setting, STANDARD.....and putting up with some Judder. The other annoyance, you pay a high price for the top of the Line 4K TV and its Remote doesn't have Backlit Key light...I mean using the Remote in a Darken room, and given the keys are small, I fine I must turn on a light to use the Remote. SamSung sent me another Remote as they indicated the Remote should have Backlit Keys, the replacement doesn't light up either. I plan to contact SamSung again.....on this issue and try to get a better understanding of Judder and the Action Motion Menu setting. So far my interaction with SamSung, which has been via Chat leads me to believe at the Chat Level all the Agents do is reference the User manual...they do not know the TV.

Impressive picture, especially vs Sony 850C

After spending days of researching TVs I settled on the Sony XBR65X850C as I have been a long time Sony owner, it was a well recommended TV by Best Buy staff, was in my budget range of $2500-$3000, and was supposed to have 0 judder. Well after 10 days I sent it back as the color washout on the Sony was terrible from side viewing angles. I'd even say it was to the point of being unwatchable, especially for the price. Straight on the picture was nice, but there are only so many seats in the house that are straight in front of the tv. After getting just 20 degrees off center you can start to notice the change in color. Now to be fair this is a known problem with all new flat screen tvs, but some are worse than others and the Sony was terrible. Why should I be disappointed with my new tv after investing so much time and money on it and not getting the picture I expected? I shouldn't, and that is why it went back. Best Buy staff said I was the first person to complain about the Sony and that a bunch of them personally had one and enjoyed it. Sure I was. Silly Best Buy staff and silly me for allowing them to persuade me to go with the Sony. Another thing, all the sample clips on the tvs in the store are a garbage way to make a decision. Try to see if the Best Buy staff can display a live feed through the tv. The picture on the live feed is a much better way to measure of the tvs typical performance than some optimized sample clip that can't be achieved in most viewing situations. Yes I understand this introduces other variables like signal quality, but if all the tvs are using the same signal in the store it should be a fair comparison. Best Buy could not do this for me before I bought the Sony so I had to wait until I got it home to test it. Ultimately if they just had a live feed in the store I could have evaluated the tv better from the start and maybe could have avoided the whole exchange process. I checked out the reviews on RTINGS.com as well and the Sony did not score all that well, really a middling review. So I started looking at the Samsung 65JS8500 as it had great reviews and was HDR ready. I read some good banter on the avs forums going back and forth on the Sony 850C vs the Samsung JS8500 which piqued my interest in the Samsung even more. Best Buy did something called an uninstall/ re--install where I paid the difference for the Samsung tv and the protection plan and the Geek Squad came to my house again, took the old Sony tv and hung the new one on the wall. Props to Best Buy on this for making the exchange seamless. The Samsung JS8500 will 'wow' you right away. The colors pop, really pop and the side viewing is much better/ less distorted than the Sony. The picture is just much crisper overall and for $500 more for the tv and $200 more for the plan, it was a no brainer. I'm very happy with the Samsung JS8500, football is amazing, movies and black levels are awesome. If you are in the market for a new TV, do yourself a favor and check out the Samsung JS8500, you won't be disappointed.

I purchased this TV over a month ago to replace a top of the range 55" Samsung 3d TV. I compared, hoom'd and ha'd over this TV and the Sony of similar price range. After calibrating and viewing I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that I made the right choice. The picture is amazing! DirecTV signals are crisp, particularly when watching sports. Netflix 4K content is outstanding. Upscalling of BluRay is also awesome and the 3D performance blows my out going set away. Do it!! You won't be disappointed.

After initial setup I went straight to Youtube to check out 4K content, and it's AMAZING. Immediately noticeable and I sit 9 ft. away from the TV. I have good internet speeds so the streaming wasn't bad, the video stayed at 4K throughout. Screen mirroring works well with my cell, I viewed cell material on the TV. Connected my laptop with bluetooth, also worked very well, just a little lag. Regular cable programming looks regular. Popped in a 4K movie on the Samsung 4K player, GREAT picture. Regular Blu-ray does look upscaled. The pointer on the remote's pretty cool, definitely saves time. I was afraid the silver bezel wouldn't match my decor, but it works well. Can't wait to view more 4K content, wish there was more.
