Great TV, still needs some refinement

First off let me start by saying, I have owned the 75" 6300, 75" 7100, and 75" 8000. All of those TV’s were returned for various reasons; screen not uniform, clouding, stuck pixel on delivery, motion blur on top half of the screen with certain content, 3D not working at all. I keep upgrading because the size is perfect. Mine arrived yesterday and so far I must say this is the best 75” so far. Great TV, screen is really uniform, hardly any clouding at all, blacks are super black, input lag seems very low when test with FPS Team Fortress 2 in practice mode. I will test online soon. PC hooked up to HDMI/DVI directly bypassing my Onkyo TX-NR5009 and renamed to PC. Plex runs great as well, but still no support for HD audio so you’re stuck with only 5.1 surround sound. I have not tested the 3D but another review has stating it is excellent; you can find that here http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-un75hu8550.html . Samsung still falls short on many key features.
Instant On feature, I timed it there is no difference what so ever. TV starts up same speed with this feature on or off.
Eco meter, very annoying there is no way to disable that green power gauge bottom right of screen. People that buy TV’s this big and expensive are usually paying Tier 4 electricity rates, we don’t need to be reminded of this each time we turn on our TV. Grrrr.
Samsung built in guide has no filters for displaying HD channels only. I did notice however that if I page down to Discover channel and select then go back it the guides stays on Discovery rather than default back to channel 1 SD content.
Anynet+, the feature still defaults your receiver to switch over to TV/CD, instead of last input like CBL/SAT forces us to use Harmony remotes. This makes no sense what so ever…never has. Panasonic has this feature working perfectly, not sure why Samsung has not fixed it, perhaps they feel everyone needs to default to the TV/CD input due to the Smart Hub or that no one has CBL/SAT. Silly.
The remote itself, has no light so you can’t see any of the buttons at all at night rendering the remote useless at night/evenings. Also when you press guide, it shows the Samsung TV guide instead of you providers guide from your CBL/SAT box. Another reason you will never use the remote. F8000 guide button showed your cable box guide and even has a DVR list button and lights…looks like they went backwards on features for the mouse pointer they added.
The remote app in the iTunes store will not connect to the TV. (Network Connection Failed), it can see the TV but not connect. TV never shows allow device pop up.
Samsung has still not licensed DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD. Most people that spend 6k for a TV want lossless audio options and are pushing 7.1 or great sound not just 5.1, so basically big fail here as well.
There is no verification that your content is being upscale. If you press info, it only shows what the original input source is (by law). I would be nice if when you press info it displayed both input and what it is currently being displayed at so you know the extra money you spent is working.
There is no way to disable 4k up-scaling, many high end receivers have 4K up-scaling but without a disable option you can never use those. You can only use the TV’s built in up-scaling otherwise your processing the signal twice possible making it fuzzier. So there is no way to test to see what up-scaler is better or worse.
For a thin TV, they really failed with the location of the HDMI/ARC input, IR input, audio out input, ex-link, LAN input ,component/av in1 and av in2. All of which are directly on the back sticking out so forget about flush mounting this TV. I am using a tilt mount so it’s not affect me, but if I was going to mount it flush to the wall with a thin mount…out of luck without angled connectors….so silly to make a thin TV then have the inputs direct on the back sticking out instead of flush like the other inputs.
This is all I can think of for now, still love the TV despite the shortcomings I have listed.

I have been looking at 4k TVs for a while and I am happy with this purchase. The TV does a great job of upscaling the content from my DirecTV feed as well as other inputs. Unfortunately there are not yet a lot of options for 4k, but Samsung so far does have an advantage when pairing with DirecTV as I believe they are the only TV that can get 4k via the RVU currently. Since this is still early in the DirecTV 4k world, there are still some kinks to work out, but it is usable. I have found that the RVU causes headaches when trying to use a logitech harmony remote with the RVU as the input(along with other non-standard devices such as USB drives) since it is a "virtual" input and the harmony remote doesn't know how to interact with it. Integration between my phone and TV has worked well to display the video from my phone on my TV wirelessly. The 3D display is great and the fact that it comes with 4 pairs of glasses is awesome. There is large selection of apps and I am able to stream both 4k and 3D movies from Netflix. Gaming on this TV is amazing and I am able to comfortably sit 20 feet away while playing first person shooter online games without a problem. I did find out after the fact that this makes use of ARC for audio output which should be considered if you are upgrading your audio receiver as well, since it can eliminate the need for an optical out from your TV for feeds such as the RVU, USB, or various apps.

This is my 2nd Samsung UHD and I am amazed by true 4k content such as Blacklist on Netflix and DirecTV RVU server content. I did learn through some trial and error in the DirecTV RVU installation that wifi for Netflix, etc. and hard wired RVU for DirecTV cannot operate simultaneously, so you have to go into the network settings menu and switch back and forth depending upon your programming source. Not a big deal but worth noting as DirecTV installers weren't aware of this yet since I was just the 3rd RVU installation they had completed. Once we got that sorted out it was time to sit back and immerse ourselves in the lifelike action. The price of this panel made me hesitate slightly to pull the trigger, but it is well worth it for the clarity, features and size. Another great Samsung product!

THE GOOD: Without a doubt, this is one of the best 4k TV's on the market today in my opinion. The picture clarity and color saturation is stunning. You can easily immerse yourself in the picture making you feel like your right there in the action. Even older TV broadcasts look much crisper on this TV. There are plenty of picture settings built into this TV that are simple to adjust to your preferred viewing preferences. The Samsung smart hub is relatively easy to navigate without much difficulty and has a variety of different apps and features to keep you occupied. The sleek and slim design of this TV makes it a great candidate for a low profile wall mount, which I also purchased at Best Buy.
THE BAD: Speakers and price. The speakers are poor to average at best. At higher volume levels, vibration was a big problem. A surround sound system or high quality sound bar is definitely worth the additional investment. There is a huge jump in price (nearly double) between the 65 and 75 inch version of this TV. While I currently own the 75 inch version, the price tag may be hard to swallow when the 65 inch is considerably a lot less money. I bought my TV on Black Friday, which is the only reason I was able to upgrade to the 75 inch size. Despite the poor sound and relatively expensive cost of this unit, it is still a great choice for people who expect an exceptional TV/movie theater viewing experience.

This a great TV in everyway. The only down side is setup being confusing. 1) What are the difference with each HDMI input. 2) What is HDMI (ARC) and when to use it. 3) Had trouble with DirecTV HDMI cable input going through AV receiver (bought Denon then exchanged for a Yamaha). I had a problem with TV saying that I had a missing HDMI signal under certain conditions (stopping playback of recorded DirectTV show, skipping channel, etc). I was told that it was a problem with format changes (720P to 1080I for example). There was a work around with this: Have the DirecTV HDMI input go directly to the TV and have the direcTV fiber optic audio link go to the AV receiver. There was also another work around with this: Have the DirecTV set up with only one TV format (like 1080I) the only problem is I don't know if this will compromise the quality of the TV up scaling the signal.
But everything else works GREAT. What a wonderful picture!!!!!

This is a great TV with an EXCELLENT picture! I wasn't sure what to expect with the new UHD and upscaling of non-UHD content. I was stunned at how vivid the picture quality was on a Blu-Ray DVD. It was almost like the actors were standing in the room.
The features of the TV are very good and I'm impressed with the way the software can be updated to keep pace with changes. It even "learned" my cable set-top box and will control it as well. Set-up and connection was pretty easy too. I look forward to watching true UHD quality movies on this TV.

We thought hard about spending the money for this but it was well worth it. The 4k is incredible and the up-scaling on this TV is awesome. With amazon and other providers streaming so many more 4k shows it is really entertaining. The wi fi smart hub on this model is great and even when I use the TV as source (streaming) and run sound through AV Receiver it is close to full 7.5 surround.

Fabulous picture!! Unnerving at first - with Blu-Ray it feels like watching people live on stage - now we're accustomed to it (but still awed), and mere FHD seems substandard ;)
quirks:
1) Audio Out (digital, analog, and bluetooth) skip regularly - very annoying - known issue pending resolution by Samsung.
2) USB ports have no power. We wanted to use small USB powered fans to enhance cooling, but cannot w/o power.
3) wireless internet won't hold connection. Wired internet is fabulous. This may be related to eqp other than UHDTV, but the TV is the only device that drops.
4) when listening thru bluetooth, all other Audio (i.e., TV speakers and other audio outs) are muted. We have analog wireless headsets that don't receive a signal when BT headset is connected.

I like to watch a lot of sports on TV and this television has outstanding picture quality, even when compared to high end 1080p TVs with high refresh rates. I was hesitant to spend the extra money for a 4K television so soon after they came onto the market but I have absolutely no reservations now that I have had the opportunity to watch all of the bowl games and NFL playoffs. Superior picture quality!!!! Worth the extra cash!

Ultra HD TV includes HDMI 2.0 ports and support for the new H.265 4K video codec that's being used by Netflix (and likely others) for the delivery of 4K content. it remains to be seen if the TV viewers of the world will be swayed by the curve as much as Samsung seems to expect. Still, with plenty of other enticing features in its armoury including quad core processing and a Smart TV platform that's second to none.

Big improvement from my 8 yr old Sony 70". I wasn't sure 4k and 3D were worth the price, but even my wife, who is happy watching an old 20" TV, is blown away by the picture. Dedicated 4K content is beautiful, as is 3D. It has active 3D so even regular TV can be converted, but it's not as good as dedicated 3D. Action and sports have negligible shadowing. Tried a Sony 65" and returned it for this one.

I was worried about issues with high motion and ghosting, but so far, I have not seen an issue with that.
The picture is AMAZING, even the 3D.
The only thing that I wish was that this set had local dimming.
I also hadn't found a real use for the touch pad remote, but I'm sure someone will.
Make sure you disable your voice command system - there are some privacy concerns.
This TV will not disappoint!

My old TV broke in March. After seeing the 65 inch 4K TV's, I knew that I wanted one, but wanted a larger size. Since at the time, there was nothing larger (except 85 inch models that were priced very high), I waited 4 months until this model came out. I can say it was worth the wait. I literally spent those four months researching all 4K models (and pricing).
Picture quality (excellent)
Sound (don't bother with since I have a 7.1 Surround Sound System).
Features (excellent)
You need to set-up the TV up correctly or you will get a "soap opera" effect (and feel that you are watching a "sound stage" and not a film).

While not cheap, if you're a TV lover of any sort, this brings pure enjoyment to viewing. Chrystal clear clarity is the hallmark here and it is so pronounced that it takes a little getting used to viewing. I've been watching mine for almost a month and am still almost as amazed as the first day it was set up and turned put to real use.

I was looking for 75 or 80 inch TV and was thinking of just 1080 but found a open box 75 with 4g technology and 3d that offered an excellent price, just higher than one I was planning to buy. The team at Best Buy made sure I had what I needed to use the TV and a deal was had. Love the new TV and it's great picture.

I have had this tv for about a month and I am still amazed at the picture every time I turn the set on. Purchased from Best Buy as open box special so I got a good price. Set-up was easy with no problems. I have had other high-end tvs but this one has the best picture I have seen on a tv.

Very good video quality and sound from this innovative 4K TV. I was apprehensive since there was limited availability of UHD service available. I have been very impressed with the increased quality of standard HD with this TV and the UHD programs available from Netflix and Amazon are fantastic.

This Tv is a beauty...the only problem is that when you stream at too slow of a speed, or if you have low quality video it is so apparent as to make me want to either shut it off or take the video to a lower resolution TV! We love the picture and have it connected to a premium sound system...

This tv is about as good as it gets. Unreal picture, simple setup, easy access to the Smart content, you name it. I was debating between this and the 65" curved and glad I chose this. The only knock is no built in camera, but I got the Samsung camera for $100.
