    Amazing Clarity

The most incredible thing I can share with you is about the amazing clarity of this screen. In all fairness, I am migrating from a 10 year old 42" Sony Bravia flat panel to this 75" Q70R machine. So I have skipped over 3 or 5 generations of flat-panel evolution. So my impression of this upgrade may be over the top. What a view I have! The 2019 Q70R is an impressive beast. The blacks are inky deep and the highlights pop off the screen. The color contrast is razor sharp. HD content on this screen is mesmerizing but it is the Ultra 4K content that has taken my breath away. My media world is now just a quest of 4K material. I wish RedBox had chosen my city for one of their 4K test beds. Set-up was simpler than expected. I used the Samsung SmartThings App on my Samsung phone and perhaps I had a leg up with my Samsung mesh WiFi network because it went too easy. There was no need for a manual, a visit to the Samsung Support or YouTube tutorial. I had previously downloaded the software update onto a USB key while waiting for delivery. That was done in 15 mins. I normally pore over a user manual but I did not miss having a textbook to flip because every instruction was on the screen. The computing power and features built-into this is just boggling and will take me some time to explore and effectively use just a few of the offerings. My first pleasant surprise was the simplicity of the One Remote – it has so few buttons. The navigation was intuitive. And I did not even need to put in the batteries into the remotes for the Soundbar or Blu Ray player. It was worth getting all Samsung products for this reason alone. The soundbar was recognized by the TV and automatically configured. The Blu Ray had a little kink in that it did not let me complete my log-in password but playing discs works just fine. I may have to look for a software update for that next. I haven’t even jumped into the voice-activated commends with Alexa and Bixby. I am most enamored with the Ambient Mode. This is a feature that puts up an image on the screen so you don’t have to ignore the dark TV in the room. I am psyched to discover the Art Subscription curated collections with galleries that Samsung has to offer so this service becomes a selection of art instead of black hole in the room. I am looking into this next. They promise no burn-in on the screen – I can only hope.

Very disappointed in the Q70. I have a 55" Q6 from the year before and it has a much better picture. The Q70 seems overly dark in all color modes. Purchased without looking at it in person which was a mistake.

    Large and pretty

This behemoth has served us well over the last 3 years so far. It's our living room TV, and is used as a computer monitor, for streaming shows/movies, and for gaming. It's got incredible brightness, and 4K content looks fantastic, which is mainly the reason we bought it. There are a few small caveats, though: 1) The minimalist remote has no button for switching inputs. You either have to use the voice-activation button and tell it the input to switch to, or go to the menu and manually select it. Using voice is faster, but still more tedious than just being able to press a button on the remote. 2) The TV offers no way (that I've been able to find) to view information about the content that's currently being played, other than when using it as a computer monitor. When used as a monitor, I can hit the middle circle button and it will show me the resolution. But try to do that when using the built-in streaming apps, and it just serves as the play/pause button. I'd really love to be able to verify when watching something on Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV+, etc., if what I'm seeing is coming through as HDR10 or not, if the source resolution is 4K or not, etc. 3) Unfortunately I didn't realize at the time that I bought this the difference between HDMI 2.0 and 2.1, and the fact that this TV had no HDMI 2.1 ports. If I had known the benefits of using HDMI 2.1, especially for gaming on my PS5, I would have bought a different model. Gaming still looks pretty, but man it would be great to have that VRR. Oh well, that's my fault for not doing enough research. Still, overall this TV has been a good purchase. It's not as cool as OLED (which we ended up buying for our bedroom), but it suffices for our living room TV for the next few years at least.

      Utchay,

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung 75" Class Q70R QLED 4K TV. I am very sorry that your experience with this TV was less than perfect, and I completely understand your disappointment.
The Q70 R TV is powered by Quantum Processor 4K, Direct Full Array 4X, Quantum HDR 8X, and deliver over a billion shades of color with precise contrast, sharp details, and fine-tuned black level.

Please know that the TV will upscale as best as possible any content sent to it. The closer the signal is to 4K, the better it will look coming out.
It also has several preset picture modes and many custom settings, allowing users to adjust images to their liking.
The Dynamic Mode is our typical store demo mode and is the brightest among all presets.
Standard Mode is ideal for home and everyday viewing.
Movie Mode is the closest setting to calibration the way the director intended as it uses less enhancements and will likely result in the truest picture.

In addition, the quality of the image on your screen depends on the source and the connection.
HDMI cables are recommended for optimal HD viewing; and when possible, 4K content will provide the best picture quality.
The quality of the streaming content depends largely on the speed of your internet, as most content providers have adaptive streaming that will automatically adjust the image quality based on the network bandwidth.

Please give us the opportunity to assist you with image quality adjustments tailored to your preferred viewing experience. You can reach us via any of the following options:
      1) Phone: 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs) Available 8AM - 12AM EST (Mon-Fri) / 9AM - 11PM EST (Sat-Sun)

To be completely honest, Im getting tired of these panels with dead pixels. 6 dead pixels, all channels (RGB). Id return it, but to be fair, im too lazy and its a big tv (75"), it was difficult enough getting it from the store to my house. If this was a 55", it would be back at the store already. I did this before with a 55" and Bestbuy stopped me at TV number 5. They said after returning an item multiple times, they have a right to stop honoring the return. Its understandable from a fraudulent aspect, but mine is legitimate. That was 5 TV's all with dead pixels. I dont think I should have to just accept that there will be dead pixels. If thats the case, these prices should be way lower. For the most part, I dont even think people know about it, let only complain about it. Sure, you cant see it when your sitting away from the tv, but I know its there and I paid for shoddy electronics as well as accepted it. Theres nothing wrong with the TV itself, albeit the pixels. It has a great picture and for the price versus performance, its the best bang for your buck. 3 stars for picture and value versus other brands and the Q80/Q90, which is the same panel btw. 2 stars off for 6 dead pixels. Its a big panel, but that should be more reason to justify another $800 for 10" more over the 65".
