I have previously purchased an 850 EVO for my aging laptop, which went from a 30 second boot to 4 seconds. Installed this one on my tower (upgrading from a 128 GB NAND) and it's even faster. Excellent boot drive, and priced for value.

I recently purchased an HP touch screen laptop with a 7th gen core i7 processor and 8 GB of ram. That alone is pretty good but it came with a standard hard drive and i wanted to make sure it would be the best it could be. After doing some research i went with this solid state drive and i kid you not it is blazingly fast. From off to start up it takes literally no more than 4 seconds to be at the log in screen after being off, maybe less. I have to do it multiple times when showing people so they believe it wasnt just on sleep mode. Shuts down in half that time. Aside from that, the speed when browsing the net coupled with the i7 processor is ridiculously good. I did lose storage space from the 1TB hard drive to a 500GB ssd but its worth it to gain all the speed that i get out of the samsung evo ssd.

I love this drive. I have purchased several of them and it's a great value for the performance and capacity. I use them in my laptops and I have one in an external enclosure for my Xbox one to speed up game loads. They just work.

I purchased a Toshiba laptop almost 2 years ago and from the start, it was slow! It has an i7 processor and 12 GB of memory, so it's not like it's a low-end machine. Nonetheless, it was very slow to the point where I rarely used it due to the frustration. Well, I started reading the BB reviews about the improvement in performance and boot up time after installing one of these drives and was a little skeptical that this drive could help my 2-minute boot up time and the long time to load programs. After installing it, I am now a believer! It takes 15 seconds for my laptop to boot up and I can start programs like MS Office or iTunes so fast it's incredible! I went from not wanting to use my laptop to being very pleased. I highly recommend this replacement drive!

My small SSD, on my desktop, became full and ran to BestBuy to pick this up which was at a very good price. It came with software to migrate my current OS/Data from the smaller SSD to this larger SSD. I left the smaller SSD in (it has the OS on it) and unplugged the other nonSSD hardrive and plugged this new SSD in. The new HD came with a CD which has software to migrate the data off the smaller SSD onto the new SSD which it did without issue. It was a very fast/easy process to swap it out... everything runs this same and I now have much more room for iPhone backups (which I have to go to the OS drive).

Very fast and very quiet. does not put off a lot of heat, and has. It given me any problems. Easy to install & a very worthwhile purchase!

This solid state works exceptionally well and fast. I upgraded from a hard drive and I'm seeing a huge improvement in speed and functionality. I read a lot of reviews online about solid states, their stability and longevity, both of which have greatly improved over the past few years. The Samsung Evo and Pro solid states are currently among the most recommended of any solid states to buy for their performance and longevity for the price. The Samsung Evo's have a 5 year warranty and the Samsung Pro's have a 10 year warranty. The Pro's are meant for heavy usage and would be great for gamers and video and music editors, but unnecessary for most people. Most people would only need the Evo's since most people wouldn't be constantly erasing data, such as save to this drive, backing it up and erasing it or using this drive for more temporary usage such as a music or video editors working on a project and when done backing up their work on another drive and erasing it from this drive. That being said this drive likely would last most people 10+ years with no problems. Hope this review helps others with their purchase. I know this is a vital and important part of your computer especially if this is going to be your primary drive running your operating system, unless this is your secondary drive or you're doing a dual boot.

I recently bought a $250 laptop running a Pentium 4405U, with 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard drive. Very happy with it, it fits all my needs (no, I'm not a gamer...) But it was sluggish. I expected this, with those specs. Whenever I had multiple browser tabs open, or several running programs, the system would bog down (90%+ memory usage, close to 100% disk usage) and it could take 15-30 seconds for it to respond. No matter, I planned to upgrade the memory and put in a SSD. My laptop now has 8GB RAM and a Samsung Evo 850 500GB SSD. I've been running this for a month, and it's very snappy. Boots in less than 6 seconds, nothing ever slows down even with 2 dozen browser tabs, explorer windows, photo editing program, etc. Memory usage typically under 50%, sometimes goes over 80% (I'll go to 16GB when my budget allows...). Disk usage usually 0%-4%, and it never goes over 10%. Overall, the system response is 1000 times better than with stock specs. Installation (with respect to data migration and setup) was straightforward and trouble-free. It took a couple hours to migrate the original 500GB HD to the SSD, but it was all automatic. The Samsung "Magician" software is a bonus -- it claims to monitor and tweak the performance of the SSD. It lets you check the drive's status and health; but mostly it runs in the background and I assume it's doing what it advertises. In a month of use, the drive has performed flawlessly. The only issue I've noted is that I'm using VeraCrypt to encrypt two large folders on the SSD. (VeraCrypt allows you to mount a folder as a virtual drive after decrypting it.) When I dismount a VeraCrypt drive, both VeraCrypt and the explorer window lock up for about 5 minutes. I can wait, or reboot to recover. I don't know if this is a VeraCrypt problem, or an issue with using VeraCrypt on an SSD.

The Samsung 850 EVO is one of the best SSDs available. It's fast, reliable and comes with the software you need to clone your existing disk and also to make the best use of the SSD's capabilities.

My HD crashed within my MacBook Pro computer. I was dreading having to buy a new, overpriced Macbook. Luckily I went the route of simply just switching the HD. An added plus in my situation was that now my MacBook Pro is lightning fast!(obviously, it went from a flash drive to a SSD!). Quick word of advice...if you don't know enough about computers...pay someone to install it for you. Trust me, you will severely regret if you don't. I definitely recommend this product. Wether it is to change or replace your HD, this is a great choice!

I was debating if I should purchase either this or the 960 EVO M2 due to the speed different and the size. I decided to go with this product due to the cost and it exceed my expectations. The boot up time to load Windows is within seconds from the moment I hit the power button and speed difference is night and day when I originally had the 1TB WD Black. I would recommend this to anyone but if the cost is not an issue and prefer more speed, go for the 960 EVO M2

I bought this after talking to a Geek Squad associate who recommended over the other SSDs. He said out of all of the SSDs that he has seen come back or had complaints about, he said that with the Samsung he has only seen one. With a 3 year warranty I can see why. I put in my wife's laptop which runs Windows 7. She doesn't want a new laptop. Don't ask why. Anyways her laptop was painfully slow booting up and doing certain things. After installing it made her laptop run so much faster! So for a fraction of the price she got a laptop that's as fast as a new model. I kept the old drive so she can use it back up everything just incase. If a SSD does fail they say that you can't retrieve anything.

Easy to copy and install using the software that comes with it. Made my old slow laptop lightning fast again. Just remember that it doesn't port over the backup partition, so keep a disc based copy.

When the hard drive in my Dell All-in-One crashed I decided to replace it with an SSD. This Samsung SSD has consistently good reviews so I went for it. The installation was easy. I did a clean install using a Windows 10 media DVD. My computer immediately recognized the new SSD, Windows 10 installed onto the SSD without a hitch, no product code required (Microsoft account sign-in got the job done), no issues with drivers, everything worked right from the get go. Re-loading software was a pain and I did lose about a month worth of non-backed-up items. Lessons learned: backup more often, starting with a clean install is easy, SSDs are quick.

I did a lot of reading before buying this drive. After purchase, I downloaded the clone software directly from Samsung and had no issues at all. I cloned a 1TB hdd drive down to this drive. The software did all the work, it took around an hour (there was only ~230 GB on the drive). Removed the hdd and put this ssd in and it fired right up. I installed it in a Dell Inspiron laptop. The only issue I had was with outlook 2016. I had to redirect where the files were located. Took a few minutes but that was all. Honestly, I expected more issues than that. Performance is stellar! Boots up faster than my newer Surface Pro 3 and runs faster also. I am now watching the prices on the 1TB Samsung ssd so I can swap out my Dell 2320 all in one (it has a 2TB 7200 platter drive).

The laptop had 8 gigs of ram and a 4th generation cpu but the 5400 rpm hard drive really slowed it down. It now runs so much faster. The 500 gig Samsung has been 100% reliable.

very happy with puchase. ssd super fast and quiet. had no problem cloning off larger hard drive. will never go back to regular hard drive. like i said very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easy installation. I use this as my drive for my OS and key programs like MS Office. It is a huge improvement in speed performance. The best thing you can do for your PC.

I was looking to replace the HDD on my Toshiba Satellite. I read all of the reviews and was deciding between this drive and the SanDisk. I chose the Samsung, because of better reviews on reliability. Taking apart the Toshiba was a chore, but not too hard. The drive install went fine. Remember you are going to need to use a cable if you want to copy your current drive. I will attach a pic of CrystalMark throughput, but i got great results.

Perfect fit for my old Dell laptop computer. Dropped right in and I installed Windows 10. Saw an immediate boost in boot time. Quiet. Light weight. Excellent product.
