Rescued an old HP 4430s i5 Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had replaced my HP4430s business class laptop with an ASUS Q405ua laptop because the HP quit booting up. I repaired the drive, apparently had a bad sector. After a year, the ASUS was so SLOOOOW to boot. Found the Samsung SSD's had dropped in price. Bought 2 drives. The older laptop is faster than the newer one now. Cloning on the HP went well. Use the Samsung software to clone.

Great SSD
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the second best thing I upgraded in my previous laptop, from the original 1 TB mechanical hard disk. The performance and speed boost was truly measurable. The best upgrade I did was to the RAM. If you can replace your primary/boot drive with an SSD do so

Made a huge difference in my old 2011 MacBook Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was about to sell my old 2011 MacBook Pro for pocket change on Craigslist when I came across an article about swapping the old, slow physical hard drive for a solid state drive. The installation was very simple and made a HUGE difference in performance. The MacBook Pro is very usable now, especially with 16GB of RAM.

So far "mostly" so good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My computer did not recognize the drive at first. I had to reformat it to be recognized. On a whole it is a little faster than my 7 year old Crucial SSD that it replaced. I had to select a yes/no on whether I'd recommend it so to be fair I chose yes but I would couch that with the following cautions. What follows may be due to the age of my hardware and Windows 7 but: 1. UEFI Bios does not recognize it as a boot drive so on every reboot I have to go into the Bios boot menu to get it to recognize the drive. 2. Started getting hard disk controller errors after installing. No problems I can see in performance or any notice of the issue but it shows up repeatedly in Windows logs. I ruled out bad cables and switched SATA ports but have not resolved it. No errors on the same port if I switch drives. This doesn't cause any obvious problems but remains unresolved. These are not major issues but in 20 years I've not had these problems with other drives. It makes me wonder but as I said could be attributed to the fact that my machine is upward of 5 years old (but built right from the start) and running Windows 7. Your mileage may vary.
