Prior to failing, it started taking about 30 minutes to boot up. Finally quit booting altogether. After installing this drive, reinstalling windows, my boot times are consistently coming in at less than 20 seconds- very impressive. operates better than when laptop was new, lower operating temp-I liked it so much, I bought another one to install in my wife's laptop.

Amazing Boot Drive!

My wife was complaining about slow load times in games. Mainly Sims 4 and Fallout 4. She commented not about how fast her computer boots but how smooth her games run. I cannot recommend enough. With the holidays, you can definitely find one on sale at Best Buy.

Great drive if you use Intel

AT the same time, if you're buying an AMD system, you might want another brand of SSD. I've had too many conflicts that actually make this drive slower than a mechanical HD.

Excellent Budget SSD. Improve any PC with a HDD

So many of todays PCs are fitted with great components only to be hampered by a slow HDD. You won't really know how your PC can perform if not running a quality SSD hard drive. Go to Samsung's website and download the Data Migration App and use your USB to SSD cable to transfer your current HDD data to the new SSD. Upon reboot install the new SSD and your ready to go.

Awesomeness for old or new hardware

Amazing...and the samsung magician software which is free to download makes cloning the original drive a snap. Great item that is incredibly dependable. If you have an older machine with a mechanical drive and sata controller just pull the trigger. You will not regtet it.

Excellent SSD - so Easy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This new one is the 860 and it is slightly smaller than the 850, so the mounting holes might not line up with some of the older SSD holders, but once it's in your machine, the rest is easy. I've always used a brand new, blank SSD and installed Windows 10 from the DVD. you don't have to do anything to the SSD at all -- don't need any software. Windows 10 doe3s everything for you. Once the O/S is installed, my machine booted up from COLD to READY in maybe under 10 seconds!

Fastest Drive I've Ever Seen!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently, I experienced a hard drive crash on my Dell 8300 Desktop and as I was chatting with the Best Buy Geek Squad tech, he suggested using a Solid State drive, which I had never heard of. One was on sale so I jumped on it. I cannot believe the speed difference! What used to take minutes for my old hard drive to boot up, now takes a few seconds. It's astonishing and I have to thank the Best Buy Geek Squad for making me aware. I love this product!
