Not enough Bass for me!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not enough bass Samsung!!! This soundbar system is excellent! The atmos is awesome! The bass is decent but nowhere near as good as my 10" jbl, I wish could tie the jbl in somehow. If they had a louder sub this would be the perfect surround sound system! I would recommend it and buy it again though

Great sound bar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is great, pretty much mixes itself out of the box. I wish the Samsung smart things app was a little more in depth, but it sounds great. I would say if you have a large room and want to crank the system, it does have limitations on how loud it can get before the surround speakers start to crack. I think I’m a family room or living room it is plenty loud, but I have this sound bar and also have an old school system set up in my movie room all wired. I can knock myself off the couch in that room... but how often do you watch a movie in your house and feel your in the imax theater. My wife always tells me it’s too loud lol. The Samsung 950 is also too loud for her normal listening... so I would say it is just perfect for the home and is current in Atmos DTSX and hdr pass through with no problems.

Great Sound
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality what you would expect from a spund bar at this price range. Much better and fuller than the LG SN11RG, I found the LG to have its speech to be lost while background details being amplified to much. I did not have this same issue with the q950t. Design is simple and classy and looks like it belongs in a nice home theater. Paired with my LGCX I find my self being sucked into any movie or show I watch, completely enveloped in great sound.. I did not experience any connectivity issues others have mentioned. I do have a higher end network solution using a unifi dream machine pro and ubiquiti APs, so I believe others connectivity issues may be related to interference or a weak signal as the system uses wifi to connect the surrounds and sub.

Samsung HW-Q950T 9.1.4
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sub Woofer is very poor. The rear sound is very soft. The sound bar has total 15 speakers but it provides no real separation of sounds. Top firing speakers are not that effective. This is a very expensive sound bar system with below average performance. One can built a home theater with a separate AV receiver, sub woofer and speakers for much less but with better sounds. Also the calibration is almost useless. You don't feel the unit really has 9 channels. I returned is after trying for about 15-20 days

Good when it works, Samsung must fix sub issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound is GREAT when it works. The subwoofer becomes un-paired to the soundbar most times when you shut the system off. Sure you can unplug it from the wall and then it reconnects every time, but for the cost of this unit, not ideal. When the sub does work, we keep getting a popping or crackling sound from the sub like its blown (we've had this for 3 weeks) or like if you hear fireworks off in the distance. Low sounds that start to become more and more frequent the longer you leave it on the channel or movie you are watching. Change the channel and the fireworks go away for a bit then slowly come back.

Posted .Hello Shane,
Thank you for purchasing the HW-Q950T soundbar and for your review. I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing connection difficulties with the subwoofer. Please be sure your firmware release is updated. You can update your firmware ver. 1017.5 by Auto Update, using the SmartThings app, or by using a USB device.
Your issue may be caused by wireless interference. When there is a wireless device (e.g., wireless LAN) using the same frequency (5.8GHz) near the Soundbar, the wireless connection between the Subwoofer and Surround Speaker could become unstable. This will affect the quality of audio output.
In this case, the radio frequency channel of the Subwoofer and Surround Speaker can be changed as below :
1. With the power of the Soundbar on, vertically press and hold the WOOFER button on the remote controller for at least 5 seconds.
• The display shows “W-CH” and the currently set radio frequency channel.
2. Press the Up/Down button on the remote controller to change the radio frequency channel, and then press the Play button.
• The display shows “OK” and then the frequency is set to the changed channel.
• You can exit the setting mode by pressing any button other than Up/Down or Play.
The maximum transmission distance of the main unit’s wireless signal is about 32.8 ft. but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel-concrete or metallic wall is between the main unit and the wireless subwoofer, the system may not operate at all because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal.
For optimal listening performance, make sure that the area around the wireless subwoofer and the Wireless Receiver Module is clear of any obstructions.
The crackling or popping sounds that you hear from the subwoofer is not normal and I apologize for the disappointment.
Please reach out to Samsung Customer Support so we can better understand your issue and provide you with troubleshooting assistance or warranty service.

Immaculate soundbar
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I knew I wanted a top of the line product to match my Samsung 85” q90t, but I was hesitant to buy this soundbar after all of the terrible reviews. However the store associate assured me this was due to people incorrectly following instructions during initial setup. So as a precaution I added Geek Squad audio setup. The process was flawless. I’ve been listening to different shows/movies all day and am blown away by the sound. This is seriously next level above my q70r. I haven’t had any connection issues. I also don’t care that the screen is on the top. Do people really look at their soundbar screen that much? I know what setting it’s on based on the tv screen, and if I need to fine tune the sound settings I can just stand up to look at the soundbar screen. This is not an issue, and actually makes the front of the bar look very streamlined especially with natural sunlight on it. I love the Q-Symphony feature for movies and shows. My only complaint is that music, like through Apple Music on the tv app, does not sound as good with Q-Symphony turned on. Maybe it isn’t built with music in mind? Let me know, Samsung. It does make me wish I had an Android phone to try out the tap feature, but AirPlay works really well. I would definitely recommend this soundbar, and after the $300 discount to bundle with my tv it is worth the price.

HW-950 Quality Issue
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product after trying the Samsung - HW850 sound bar system; which had mediocre dialog sound. After looking at the reviews and much trepidation (due to the reported connection issues that other buyers expressed), I decided to chance it and try this high-end sound bar. Set up was fairly easy and the subwoofer and rear speakers connected with no issues. I updated the recommended firmware and to my delight the sound was awesome. However, to my dismay whenever the bar would shut-off, the subwoofer and rear speakers would disconnect and required the re-connection process. After several days of constantly having to manually re-connec the subwoofer and rear speakers, I finally gave up with frustration and re-packed the system and returned it to Best Buy. I should have payed close attention to the connections complaints on Best Buy reviews, since they were correct. How could Samsung sell such an expensive product with such a serious flaw. Also, how could those other users rate this bar a 5 stars without having experienced this serious flaw?

There is a popping or cracking sound..
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this speaker system literally yesterday and I noticed when I play classical music at the same timestamp there’s a cracking every single time. I tried playing the same track and the timestamp on my phone alone and I don’t hear the cracking or popping. I’ve fix the settings so that the base is all the way down all the sound fluctuations to amplify the sound and customize it as well are either normal and or completely at zero and I still get the cracking and popping sound; when I toggle between surround sound adapter sound and so forth. :-(

As a former owner of the Q90R
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this for a few days. I am going to compare it with Q90R. Setup is about the same. I experience the same clipping in the soundbar and lose of sound that requires a reboot. However, I think it is my Sony TV. No, I am not talking about losing the connection with the rears due to bad wireless coverage. The sound is not as good, especially the mid-range. Dialogue (center channel speaker?) is too quiet compared to the rest. Maybe the forthcoming firmware will make this better. I am hoping the two extra speakers make a difference during atmos enabled content. Incidently, it was a backwards move to put the display on the top of the soundbar and not facing the user.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-Q950T Soundbar and for your review. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the LED display placement. We appreciate your feedback on the design and will share it with our design teams.
I am very sorry to see that you are finding dialogue to be too quiet from the center channel. To improve your experience, press the Sound Mode button on your remote control and select Adaptive Sound. In Adaptive Sound mode, the soundbar analyzes the content and volume to optimize the audio rendering resulting in clearer dialogue.
I hope this helps. For further assistance with features, functions, or adjustments to settings, please contact Samsung Customer Support.

Not so good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello to all I went to best buy on Black Friday this year to look at new soundbar systems dew to a power serge frying the sub on my existing set up which was a Bose sound touch 130 , one of the guys on the floor showed me several different kinds and the Samsung HW-Q950T sounded really good in the store but when I got home and got everything set up and running it didn’t sound anything like it did in the store, so I started researching the product and compiling all the reviews I could find and from what I discovered it sounds really good when it’s hooked up to a new Samsung QLED TV but not so much with other TVs. Apparently it really needs to be backed up with the speakers in the new Samsung Alex it didn’t have enough adjustment for base and treble and the sub sounds really under powered and kinda wimpy , the sound Bar was also huge! But it to sounded kinda hollow, so with all that being said I took it back and went with the Bose 700 system and it’s incredible!

It's Worth It
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this paired with the Q90 TV in an oddly shaped spaced room and it sounds amazing. We have a Dolby Atmos system with Klipsch speakers in our theatre room and we think the new sound bar sounds as good if not better. The surround speakers are wireless but they do need to be plugged into an outlet for power. The soundbar itself is quite big and interesting to mount but would have probably been fine sitting on our entertainment center. It's a pricey soundbar but I think it was totally worth it.

Not very happy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried writing a review on Samsung's site but it was rejected because it was not favorable one according to their standards. I have had the system for just over a month now and I will admit the sound is great but that is about how far I would go. After the first week I noticed a audio delay when changing channels from 2 seconds to 5 seconds and that was consistent. System was connected through a one connect box on the HDMI ARC connected to the ARC on the sound bar. Calling Samsung three different times, I got three different reasons or excuses for this happening and no solutions on how to fix the problem. Contacting the store where I purchased it they did offer a solution for it and it did work somewhat. At least once a week turning it on it will start with the TV speaker and I have to follow other steps to completely restore it to that setting. But turning it off and coming back later in the day it will sometimes revert back to the TV speaker and sometimes it will stay at the setting I want. I might add that when on TV speaker and changing the channels there is no audio delay with the audio at all. So why the difference? I have a idea but not being a engineer or tech wiz I can't say for sure. I am sure Samsung could figure it out if they were willing to spend the time. I did a search and others are saying the same condition happens to them with no solution. So in closing I would only recommend this system if you do not connect it to a one connect box.

Posted .Hi Manchu,
Thank you for your review of the HW-Q850T Samsung Soundbar System. We appreciate your feedback regarding the issues you are experiencing with your unit. Thank you for sharing your Service experience as well. Your user experience is very important to us and will be shared with our teams in an effort towards making future improvements.
If the video on the TV and audio from the soundbar are not synchronized, press the SOUND CONTROL button on the soundbar remote, until you see AUDIO SYNC on the display. You can then set the audio delay between 0~300 milliseconds by using the Up/Down buttons.
You can also try the below to minimize the delay:
1) Connect the source directly to the Soundbar’s HDMI input, then connect the Soundbar to the HDMI ARC input on the TV.
2) On the TV, set the Sound Delay level to 0. Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay: “0”
3) Change the audio format to PCM on both the source device and the TV.
We recommend that you also check that the Anynet+(HDMI-CEC) setting is enabled in your TV's settings. On your TV, go to: Home > Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) > ON. This setting will allow external devices (such as your soundbar) to automatically turn on and off with your TV every time.
Please also make sure you are running the latest firmware update (ver. 1019.5 released 4/6/21) which includes improved connectivity. You can update your firmware by Auto Update, using the SmartThings app, or by using a USB device.
I hope these tips help. Should you ever have questions or need further assistance, please call us at

Big Things Do Come in Small Packages
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Samsung did it right this time. The dolby atmos technology is life giving as sounds totally wash over my living room and it literally feels like it's bringing you into the action especially from above! Big things do come in small packages with this 9.1.4 channel system. I love the easy to connect rear surround speakers that pair well right out of the box. The subwoofer is more than enough for my room setup and high vaulted ceiling. The best dolby atmos soundbar on the market that gives you two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. I did my research and I made a smart buy with this soundbar system. Don't hesitate to buy this unit as it will not disappoint. Whether you are watching movies or listening to music, it will have you memorized every time you turn it on.
