This BlueRay/DVD player has no indicators that show if it is on or not. It is painstakingly slow to turn on and open the tray. I love Samsung products, but this one was not well thought out.

I purchased this DVD player on 5/9/16 ( Samsung BD-J5900/ZA Smart 3 D WI- FI BLU- R model # BD-J5900/Z). I had to return it, because it quit working. The store did NOT have a replacement but said they would refund for the one I purchased on 5/9. I have been to the Gainsville, VA store twice regarding my refund. They still have not credited my account.

Purchased this product and after a year it no longer plays any Blu Ray discs, even ones that would play when first purchased. All software updates were made and Samsung customer service was notified and the troubleshooting processes were followed to no avail. Samsung has refused to fix the issue without me paying for it, so basically it's a disposable player and Samsung won't stand behind their product.

I have nothing but problems with this player , second time I have purchased and it is not working Again !

This Samsung Blu-Ray player works as good as any other player I've had. I like the user interface and the remote is very easy to use. I connected it to my wired network and easily configured it on my home network. The player seamlessly connected to my QNAP storage server and played my videos stored on the server. The only problem I have with the player comes from playing Amazon Prime videos. The videos aren't as vivid as when I play them with my old Wii. The resolution is better on the Samsung but the picture is brighter on the Wii. But, I see the same muted video when I play the videos on my Amazon Fire TV stick; so the blu-ray player is not the fault. The Samsung Blu-Ray player also turns on my Sony TV and changes to the HDMI input for the blu-ray player; a feature I truly like. Overall, I as very satisfied with the player and its features. Since I do not have a 3D TV I cannot speak to the 3D feature, nor did I play a video via the USB Host connector.

There is no even LED light to see whether the DVD player is on or off. It disconnects from wifi very frequently.

Very good product but there isn't light on the front that says its powered on!!! Works great on my home theater room excellent workhorse

Got this as I put the older Samsung 3d blu-ray player into my kid's room. It was a little odd at first not to have the LCD display in front to tell if the unit was on or not but now that I have been using it for a couple of days I'm used to it. DVD/blu-ray loads up very fast and this unit comes with amazon video and Netflix with subtitle function whereas my old unit didn't. The screen mirroring function is pretty cool and quick and will be useful if I don't feel like hooking up my laptop to my samsung 3d hdtv through hdmi/Harman kardon Avr, which would provide better picture but take time. Considered purchasing the very basic bd-j5100 but at the end decided to get open box bd-j5900 for extra $5 so that I don't have to purchase chrome cast for screen mirroring from my Samsung phone. Pandora, Netflix, and amazon video work fine. Solid product and awesome value especially with the open box unit.

I am guessing that this model is the successor to the BD-e5900 model which I had previously. That model began to fail after 3 years of use - which is typical for any electronic equipment these days. I was able to get this newer model with reward points on a washer/dryer purchase. This model itself is a definite upgrade from the previous version - quicker load time, faster, smoother apps. For my slow satellite internet speeds, streaming is worthless, so I dont have much need for the apps. But the Blu-ray performance is first rate, discs play smooth - Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD. Setup is a simple as its ever been, no issues with wireless connectivity at all. If I have one complaint with this model, its the slow response to the tray eject. Sometimes it seems like the player has to think about the command that as issued to it in this regard. The tray doesnt open sometimes for 5-6 seconds with or without a disc in it. But I can live with that. All I ask of this player is that it play my discs when needed without failure. So far it has done just that.

The only problem that I have with this product is there are no lights on the front. Hard to tell if it is on or off. Otherwise, easy to use, works great!!!

I needed a reasonably-priced 3D player and I found it in this. The only issue is that it doesn't have any lights on the front to tell you if it's on or not. But other then that it does everything as advertised.

can this be used in india...i wanted to buy it as a gifgt for my dad but not sure if this one works there....also can you suggest which one does if not this one???

I bought this player thinking I would be able to play discs I bought in Spain, however, it does not play them. It is not a region free Blu-ray player. Other than that it is a great product!

I bought the item and I am very happy with the performance and excellent design.

Very happy with the compact size of this affordable 3D Blu Ray player. Has software that allows you to stream without the need for an Apple TV or other external streaming device.

I like all the functions, excellent video quality and sound, but they forgot to put a led indicator when the unit is on.

Image is good and I like that I can use Netflix. Amazon Prime does not work (problem connecting to network)! I engaged in a chat with Amazon and Samsung, Amazon tells me it is not a product that's listed as approved and Samsung told me its a problem with the Amazon App, so no answer in the end. I also don't like no indicator that its on.

At first I thought maybe I had a "lemon" model so I returned the first and tried another model. My first choice was Samsung because I love all their other products. This blu-ray player is just terrible. First of all, their is no "on" light on the front so you can't even tell if it is on or off. Then the device will just cut off randomly. It also loses internet signal frequently. The remote control design is also poorer compared to my other Samsung remotes. This one is half the size and it's difficult to select the proper button. I called Samsung for support then the model seemed to work for about an hour or two but then something went wrong again. I returned it to Best Buy and then purchased a Roku 3.0. Talk about super easy to set up and use! Extremely user friendly and I love. The Roku design is simple and small. Skip the blu-ray players and go for the Roku.

One issue we have is this component impacts communication with the tv & dvr box. The cable needs to be turned on separately when you turn on the tv because of the 3D feature--somewhat cumbersome. So, it takes 2 steps to power on the tv instead of one just to use the tv.

This product is a step back in technology from last year's model. There is no Smart Hub, no using your Samsung account. It does not recognize the 5g network, worst of all it does not utilize the 5.1 audio on Netflix, it is louder on stereo. I am very disappointed in the purchase.
