Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the BD-J6300's picture quality, ease of use, and 4K upscaling capabilities. Many also appreciate its affordable price and the convenience of built-in Wi-Fi and streaming options. The compact size is a plus for those with limited space. However, some users find the remote control and button placement less than ideal.

    Exactly what I wanted!

Fantastic bluray player. We bought it mostly to play movies and watch Netflix and it does both beautifully. I love that it doesn’t take forever to boot up and we’ve experienced no buffering. The only two drawbacks so far have been that the controls don’t have a Netflix button (like my old player, although Netflix is easily accessible through the main screen) and it doesn’t allow you to set up the WIFI using the WPS button on your router (or at least I did not see this option available). I hate typing in the network key but I haven’t had any other issues. It works great!

When my last player just stopped working, this one wit the additional apps and better video quality, was a great price! Love it!

Great player to do 4k upscale but does not play 4k Blu-ray. This player don't support HDR but will do 2160 upscale.

Wrong connector, questionable dual 5Ghz, Upscale

I bought this to exchange my circa 2013 Samsung BD-F5900/za which began rebooting itself while watching streaming. The reason I liked that model and this one is the elapsed time display which is rare nowadays even among Samsung. This works with discs and Netflix but not Amazon. No big deal. You get what you can get. Basically this player is the same format as the older. Everything dimension wise is the same. Also to know is that the most blasted thing I've complained about is the buttons are up on top of the player and do not have a good feel until you get used to them. I have the player in a tower which means it has to be the top component. The next thing to be aware of is that the digital sound port IS NOT COAX though that is what is seen in the photos here. Most of us will be using HDMI so no big deal. The real connector is S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format) aka TOSLINK. I think the only ones that need to worry about this are those that are buying Magnolia level stuff and have run out of space. This type of person is more likely to be wanting to use this or the coax plug to hook in some real old gear like a laserdisc. So no big deal but kind of sloppy that the pic is wrong. Concerns: I'm getting sound dropouts for streaming services. Using a Magnolia level receiver I can see indicators as well as have the sound drop out. This is like a split second but I can tell. Related to the above is the claim of "Built-in Dual Band WiFi". I'm not saying it isn't there but I'm only seeing one IP address and I'd expect less sound drops. This is on a 100Mbs Spectrum link that I am speed testing during a movie to see if the problem is global. Also, I know the wireless speed is faster but I'd still think wired would be more stable but it isn't. The results I see are worse on wired. 5Ghz might look great on paper but the internet connection is a FRACTION of that so I'm not sure where the bandwidth is going. I actually have better network with a wireless Roku Express which only operates at 2.4. So all things considered I'm not reaching my goal of getting rid of streaming problems though there are no reboots. Finally I can't discern the claimed upscaling. I was able to hook both players up each playing a sync copy of Ender's Game for my first test. The players respond to the same remote. When Ender is sent hope you can see rain in the street and on the window when Peter is going to wrestle Ender. Later before the final battle you can freeze the screen to see the actor who play's Ender's face which has some birth marks. And finally the battle itself. I can't tell the difference quality wise. Next I went with Roger Water's The Wall which is spectacular in scene changes. I looked at his bag at the cemetery and the snow as he drives through France. Looks the same to me. I don't think a lot of this matters if you are buying new for the first time or if you can get a good price and return it if you have the same problems as me. There could be some anomaly that affects my network with the sound but only with this player. But I tried the upscale with a 60" TV with live results. Maybe it's me but I wish I would gone with a different brand.

I had recently bought another Blu-Ray player but it did not have any kind of a front LED display. That is fine for a kid's room but I prefer the visual feedback of the display. I bought this deck and couldn't be happier. I should have done a little more research and bought this unit to begin with.

I have a lot of old self recorder dvds which really look a heck of a lot better playing on this player, I've also watched manufactured dvds and Blu-ray dvds which really look fantastic. Could not be more pleased with this player and would recommend this player.

The camera has a menu button which tells you how to use it, this is awesome because u dnt have to look for the menu (I misplace things). The videos with this camera are beautiful and clear, when I re-watch them on my computer, it's like I'm there again.

Always has issues with my Samsung 4K HDTV. Its like it constantly fights for control of the TV and will just randomly turn itself on and kick the TV off of anything we are watching. Finally got around to watching first 4K DVD, didnt use this feature at first because of the high cost of 4K. So a year later we bought our first one, Star Trek Beyond, and it wouldn't recognize the dvd as 4K compatable. What a disappointment this player is. Already shopping for a new one.

    Was great, until it wasn't

This was a replacement to a cheaper Samsung. It was great until about 6 months ago when audio started "jerking" periodically while streaming Netflix--the picture was fine, though. Then, during Amazon Prime video. Then during Hulu tv shows (with ads... it doesn't jerk on Hulu movies without ads). Streaming those platforms on this Toshiba laptop or Samsung S7's has no issues, so it's not the 100mb internet or router. The most recent development (this week) is that the picture also jerks slightly with the audio jerking. I must say that playing BluRay discs has no issue and works fine everytime. Except for when it spontaneously restarts for no reason, which has happened about 3 times during discs, but about 10 while streaming. Once it even did it on the home screen. Anyway, it's going back via the extended warranty that I purchased (I told the BestBuy worker helping me that I was worried about the warranty and he said that if I bought this warranty and had any issues at all I could just turn it in for a new one). It's being traded in for a Sony or LG.

Grea Pic quality but many annoying software issues

    Posted .

I've had this for a year but have used it for the last 2-3 months. First thing the instructions are useless and it is not straightforward to find solutions or a useful troubleshooting summary. After reading reviews, I did not even bother with live Samsung tech support.. First thing, make sure you update your software and do a Hard reset. I have had this player go blank in the middle of a movie several times and change the screen resolution as well. Always the solution is to turn off/on but most likely do a soft reset through the menu with "Settings ..", which is very annoying especially when watching a movie with a bunch of kids ... I also own a Samsung soundbar which has been a delight to use but this player I cannot recommend and would have return it in a heartbeat if I was within the appropriate dates. How hard is it to put together a complete troubleshooting guide and let customers take care of the problem as oppose to having to search in forums and try different solutions? I cannot recommend this product.
