A very good affordable phone

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I simply refuse to pay $1000+ for a phone that is mostly a camera with some phone capabilities so, I started looking at the Samsung A series, a midrange phone a step below the S series. After reading multiple reviews on multiple sites I settled on the A53-5G and I'm happy I did. It does everything I need for 1/3 the price of the S22+. As is typical of Samsung, set up was easy, much the same as previous models, the calls are clear and undistorted, no dropped calls or poor reception (AT&T). It is fast and the screen is very responsive. It's larger than my last phone and took a bit of getting used to but once I added a protective case, it felt more secure and less at risk for dropping. The battery is incredible, I don't use it to watch movies or videos, it is a phone after all, and the battery lasts for days. My old "c" charging block would not fit the new "c" connector so be sure to add that to your purchase. Yes, I would buy it again and recommend it to a friend.

If you must have the flagship model (S23), you're not looking at this phone, anyway. The price is right. The form factor is good - it fits in my front pants pocket, even with a case. My only quibble is that the face recognition for unlocking is only 60% accurate.
