Customers regard the camera as producing good photos and videos, and appreciate the convenience and ease of use the watch offers. They also find the pedometer feature useful and enjoy the stylish design. However, concerns are raised about the short battery life, the relatively high price, and the limited number of apps available. Additionally, some customers have expressed disappointment that the watch is only compatible with Samsung phones and lacks water resistance.

To be a Deaf person, this product is AWESOME
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For me, the good outweighs the bad and makes the cons so minor and petty. I have had issues with finding a cell phone with a strong vibration. My hearing husband, who travels for work, uses text as his primary form of communication with me. Often and too many times, I would miss his messages because of not being able to feel the phone vibrating. With the galaxy gear on my wrist, I never miss his messages. Maybe this isn't something others need but I find that this watch is a great little techy device. Samsung started somewhere and in my opinion, this is a good start. It has been consistently responding as expected. I've read other reviews from different sites about needing to shake their wrist just to turn the device on from sleep mode. I have not had that issue. When I lift my wrist as if to look at the time, the device turns on from sleep mode consistently. I personally love this device. The wrist vibration is just one of the many things I like about it. I'm able to respond to text messages by talking into the watch on s voice (Yes I am Deaf and Can talk). I'm able to send messages without ever picking up the phone. Very useful when driving. (Reminder, anything that distracts you from driving is NOT SAFE so use with caution). Also, I am totally baffled at the picture quality. I could not have asked for a better camera on this device. I have posted pictures taken using the Galaxy Gear. Maybe we can play a game and see who can guess which pictures were taken on my Galaxy Note 3 and which ones were taken on the Galaxy Gear. I will look for your responses. I've only had it for one day so I will see if I can come back later down the road to add information on durability. I highly recommend this device for what it does. A lot of other reviews focus on what it does not do. Keep in mind, the battery did run out before the end of the day probably because I actually used it a lot. If you are one of those type people that expect forever life in batteries needing only to charge it once a blue moon, maybe this device is not for you because it will annoy you. Despite the battery running out by the end of the day, this thing amazingly charged fairly quick within a few hours. So I'm sold right now. Again, a durability review will come later down the road.

If you want to be like James Bond get one.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to be like James Bond get one. What I like is the Look, durability, easy usability, custom watch faces, easy setup, and updates. What I don't like is the Battery life, not waterproof, volume, protruding camera, noncustomizable watch bands, and charging cradle. Would recommend it. If you got some extra loot go with the Gear 2 and if you can wait it out the next line of Samsung watches will have the phone built into them so no need to lug your phablets around.

Product is as-expected if you researched ahead...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As indicated in my summary, research this tech before you go buy it. Definitely was a good buy for me as I got it on DOTD sale, and used BB points, so it was not a significant investment. Favorite features: Discreet reminders are nice for business. Hands free is pretty useful, but the speaker is a bit quiet. 3rd party watch styler makes custom watch faces a blast, though its selection of fonts, etc. is limited. Current update allows notifications from most 3rd party apps to appear on the watch. Least favorite 'features': Still a bit bulky, and strap may not fit everyone well. (Ok for me...) No button on left side for southpaws like myself - harder to press when wearing a jacket or long sleeves. Few options for using watch as input to phone. Battery needs charged daily. No calculator?!?! All told, I've been having a lot of fun with the watch. There's a disappointingly small selection of apps for it, but a couple of them are pretty cool, and 1 or 2 are even useful! ;) Since 2.0 is coming out in just a few weeks, waiting to compare the two is probably a good idea. I'm concerned that with 2.0 being non-Android for the OS, support for 1.0 may have already disappeared, so new apps and/or enhancements to existing apps are likely to be few and far between. With more development, there is some amazing potential - I wish, for example, that the music controller were compatible with multiple players, for browsing of music, art/song display, etc., but it is really very basic. So, if you get one, be sure to get it at a bargain price - I wouldn't pay any more than $150 for one at this point - they may be even cheaper in just a few weeks. But, if you have the dough and want to give one a try, there's a lot to like and enjoy!

Samsung Gear Rocks!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Gear is an attractive device. I get many compliments on it. Two people at work have purchased one as a result of experiencing mine. The sync with my Galaxy Note II (had to do a software upgrade) is rock-solid. It very much a nice asset to quickly peek at incoming calls or texts when on the phone or even talking to someone. Quickly peeking at the watch is more polite than getting out the phone when talking with someone! The performance is outstanding. As mentioned, the battery lasts me three days which is certainly OK, but would prefer a weeks worth. I have the Gear on for an average of 12 hours a day. It is a bit expensive, but it is the first one (Samsung). The models that follow will probably be less expensive and employ more technology. The Gear meets moderate dust and water resistance, so I don't worry about rain, but would not recommend wearing in the pool of course! I highly recommend the product.

A watch and more.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice watch with notification function and the ability to answer a call without reaching for the phone, (driving?) Lacks apps to make this watch really shine, however with the apps that I downloaded from the Samsung store, they kill battery. Normal use is 3 days for me, but with the watch face app, Cuts the battery in 1/2 on one day use. Not waterproof, so Nurses, Doctors, all those hand washing... you will get the watch wet. Build is nice. It works for me but I would like more app support to do more with the watch.

Versatile Smartwatch that goes great with a galaxy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first smart watch. I am using it with my Galaxy Note 3 on android 4.4 (KitKat). I use it to tell time, look at texts I get without taking my phone out of my pocket, answer phone calls, screen calls, pedometer for all day. It also comes with calendar appointment, camera, weather features. I found this device most useful when driving or doing anything else that requires my hands to be doing something else. It allows me to not search for my phone and unlock it just to read a message. The watch also surprised me that it went along with many of my outfits; business, casual, and going out clubbing clothes. I do catch myself getting worried that I'm going to scuff or scratch the screen every now and then. Also its battery needs to be recharged every day if you don't turn it off at night, 2 days if you do. I have small wrists and the watch band fit me well with another notch for even tinier people.

A convenient tool but could be better...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a real estate agent and this watch is perfect for my professional. I no longer have to take my phone out to read incoming messages or see who's calling while I am with a customer (or driving). Just a turn of the wrist and viola!! I was hesitated to either get the pebble or this watch. Pebble has developers making software for it while Samsung I am pretty much stuck with what comes with the package. Battery life can be improved. You can use it throughout the day and it still shows 50% of battery charge left. However, the reminding 50% of battery will probably burn out in the next 2 or 3 hour. A little misleading perhaps. Overall I am happy with this "orange" watch.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not used a watch in over 20 years so it took about a day to get use to it. Once I started checking e mail, text and answering phone calls I was hooked. The only problems I have with it is that it is not waterproof and the battery life. I can get 2 days out of the battery if it is turned off at night and I take charger to work just in case. Takes about one and a half hour to charge from 15% to 100%.

Awesome Watch for a Samsung customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Samsung device exceeded my expectations for a SmartWatch. It is designed for the Samsung user like it was a missing puzzle piece. While simple and elegant it keeps the class of a watch but also optimizing smart phone stinks like notifications phone calls, pictures, etc.battery life and price, however, keep it from getting a5 star rating. it does come with Android which is modifiable which is a plus in my book for developers. Overall, I love it.

Good Gear but battery time isnt
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gear is fun to use and has some pretty cool features. I like that you can take pictures and it sends straight to the phone. It really needs a lot more apps but its new. I sure they will come. The white wrist band picks up dirt and dies from everything so I wouldnt recommend that color. I am always having to charge the battery...its not very efficant. Also it is a bit heavy on the wrist and becomes uncomfortable.

not worth the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.synced with my phone in a snap, read texts, caller I.D. without taking out my phone. my favorite function is the remote media controller. only real complaint is battery life. if i turn off the auto on function it can last over 2 days. with the auto on function turned on, i'm lucky to get a full days use on a charge. over all i think it's a good device, just not worth the $300 price tag.

Great Techie Device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I love this Samsung Gear!! I should have waited for version 2 or 3 though. Love the Picture capture features, the capability that you can be notified on your wrist is cool, but the replying back to a text or other notification can't be done without S-voice or a canned message. I work fulltime in a busy emergency room and the battery life with minimal notifications it lasts 12 hours but on a busy day it doesn't make it through a 12 hr shift much less have any extended hours. There is very limited apps for the Gear. Also this Gear doesn't like the water near it. Just saying!

Cool idea, too many limitations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was given this as a gift. It is cool and works really well, but the thing I wanted to use it for most--notifications will only work with the native app. So if you use Chomp SMS or Handcent SMS, you have to uninstall before the notification will work. Also, Gmail will only show as new mail, you can't open it from the Gear. Pedometer works great though. Watch functions are clear and neat. Battery life, not so great, maybe 2 days on a charge.

The beginning of a great device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great device it just lacks applications. The screen is sweet,,so is the touch screen responsiveness and customation with watch styler. The battery life is not great, either the apps or available colors of the watches.

Good for Samsung smart phones...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good product for use with Samsung smart phones. However, the battery life is short and the availability of applications is limited. Regardless, you will likely enjoy using this product if you have a Samsung smart phone.
