This was the phone I picked to hold me over until my Galaxy Note 7 replacement phone came in -- and it was great! It had the latest version of Android on it and, although it lagged a bit with certain tasks, it was able to handle the apps I used most.
My best advice would be to curb your expectations. At this price, you're not getting all of the bells and whistles of other, more expensive phones. The camera, for example, is only 5 megapixels, but it's doable for most -- especially if posting online. For me, the best part was having a glass screen as well as nice, textured back that didn't feel too dissimilar to the premium Galaxy phones I've come to love. It's obvious that entry level phones have come a long way from the cheap LG Optimus V I had a few years ago.
Anyway, if you're new to smart phones or just looking for an affordable break from the high prices of flagship phones, this one is a great choice!

Coming from a Samsung S4, this phone is a downgrade, however the features are decent, the price, stellar, and you get some of the best new features in a pared down utilitarian phone. Marshmallow, removable battery, upgradeable storage, and metal casing were winning features, while small things like the keyboard, slower processor and less than impressive screen resolution were the trade offs. The 16 GB onboard is a must have as Samsung needs alot of butt room to take a seat in this phone. You will get half of that 16 GB when you put on a modest amount of apps. Many complaints re phone not working..I think I picked up a winner and for 4 bucks a month..I will keep it. MIKE DROP!

I've picked up 3 of these over the past two weeks and all were easy to set up and use. Even though it's value priced, it works as well or better than "flagship" phones from 2 years ago. There are some who may wish to pay $500 more so they can claim to have the fastest speeds and / or get a free VR headset. If you want a good, solid smart phone, this should be your choice. This phone has all the core features: Front/back camera, LED flash, HD Voice and Video calling (on Verizon), Android 6, and expandable memory (micro SD). The only downside is screen resolution @ 720p. The screen is very readable outdoors and should suffice for most people.

The Galaxy J3 is a good starter cell phone for performing the basic functions. It is relatively easy to learn, especially if you use an android tablet (many of the same commands and functions). The battery life is decent, the camera works well and the phone is easy to use. If you don't need all the bells and whistles and mega memory, this phone is a great option.

I was not happy with the prospect of replacing my Galaxy S3, which died after about 3 years, with a phone that cost nearly $700. Just in time the JV3 came out,.I got a great deal at Best Buy, and terrific tech support from a fellow named Rich there. The JV3 takes care of most of my needs and solves problems I had with the S3, I can now see the screen outside, and the screen does not attract dust like the old one, Battery life is better, but not as long as I would have hoped. Had to give up some voice control of the camera and dictating emails, I guess this sacrifice was worth it for the vastly lower price of this phone

Got this phone for a mere $24 for my mom. She's a first time smartphone user and didn't want anything expensive. Overall, great phone for beginners, decent battery life and camera. A little crash course on Android OS and my mom was set.

Bought this for my 12 year old. He loves it. He plays games, youtube’s, reviews old football footage, makes videos, vidoe chat, and reads books. Perfect for his activities and I can keep track of his wearabouts.

My wife needed a replacement for her Note 2 for an oversees but Note 7s were on recall . We got the J3 thinking it will become my phone if and when we ever get a Note 7. Have worked flawlessly for over a month.Great battery life. Decent pictures with the camera. Has expandable memory. BEST thing Cost $1 per month on Verizon. Beat that!!

I purchased this to get me in between my S4 and my soon to be S8 purchase for our entire family. This phone works well and should be excellent for most unless you are a power user. Workman ship and appearance is good and reminds me of my old S4. Display is good, camera is average. If you need an affordable smartphone that is full featured, this is a great buy. My regret is not having the name of the female CSR that helped me. She could mentor others at Best Buy and other retail. What a pleasant personality and multi-tasker.

I have bought this phone twice for my daughter now (it was bricked after being dropped multiple times).
Ultimately - it's the perfect starter phone. I can add up to a 128GM microsd card & the phone still works and has plenty of memory to do whatever she does on the phone.
I expect the phone to take a beating (and it has) - and if it breaks it's cheap enough to replace without taking a 2nd mortgage on your house.

The phone was a replacement for a teenage son. This phone was faster that his previous phone with twice the storage. The remaining balance on his previous phone was more than we will end up paying for this phone, so it was a no brainer. The biggest issue that we had was getting a phone. None were in stock at the Best Buy in my area. The associate that I worked with was able to order one for me.
