I absolutely love this phone, so much better than my note edge. I have no complaints,as long as Samsung keeps sending out updates to this model longer than 2 yrs after I bought the phone. It has so many amazing features: longer battery, way better camera, better pen, more ways to control how phone functions and love that it still has easy access edge commands/apps!!

One of the best phones I've ever had

I'm one who has always liked to tinker. I'd always opt for a phone that I could root and play with. My previous phone being a 3-year-old Nexus 6P, it was time for something new. I wasn't impressed with the current Pixels and decided to take a chance on the Note 9 knowing full well that there would likely never be a root method available for it. The specs and reviews won me over, and the blue color is pretty sweet. So far, it's been a few days with it as my daily driver, and I don't think I'll miss my tinkering days at all (well maybe a little). This thing is simply amazing. The screen is bright and clear, though the curved edges are somewhat weird to me. The OS is buttery smooth and fast. I am missing Android Pie, but I'm sure it'll be coming for this device soon. The fact that it's one of the only flagships without a screen notch, stereo speakers and includes a headphone jack is a winner, but it also includes some really nice earbuds besides, which was a bonus. Wireless charging is something I thought was a fad of the past, but it's back now and extremely convenient. Dusted off my old Qi wireless charger that I had for a motorola phone a few years ago and it works great. I am not fond of all of the Samsung bloatware that comes on this, being used to a stock android experience, but getting over it pretty quick. It really is a great experience. However, this is the sole reason it loses a star in the review. There's just too much "Samsung" that can't be disabled when it's not really necessary. So far, haven't used the active S Pen too much as I'm not really a stylus guy, but it is a pretty neat feature, especially with the button that can remotely activate the camera or whatever other apps you want it to. Regarding the size. Coming from a Nexus 6P with a 5.7" screen, I was expecting the Note with a 6.4" screen to be physically bigger. I was shocked to find that it is approximately the same physical size. No problem with one-handed reach. The fingerprint scanner is placed a bit high on the back, in my opinion, but that's likely just something to get used to. I find myself searching for it to unlock the device. Face unlock doesn't seem to work well for me, despite every review showing how great it is. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong. :) I have not done much with the camera yet, but so far photos are clear and detailed. Battery seems to be pretty good, but haven't yet tested it out thoroughly. I'll update the review if I'm able once I have more detail there.

I got this phone to replace my Note 5 which I loved, but was becoming unreliable after 5 years. I love the look of this Note 9 in Cloud Silver, with the minimalist silicone cover it is like something I'd see on Star Trek! It is just a touch longer than the Note 5, and a bit narrower, and the battery life is so far lasting about 4 days with my minor usage. The infinity screen is gorgeous, and with the glass protector it looks like "wet glass". The camera is much improved for low-light levels, I could take pictures at night in an unlit room with no trouble, amazing. And watching movies/previews with the beautiful screen and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos is amazing, the best screen I've seen. And this is my third Note after the 3 and 5, I am a Note fan primarily due to the larger phone size and definitely the S-pen that puts the Notes in a class by themselves! Read the reviews by experts, this is overall the best phone in the world!

This is my first Samsung Note phone that I have owned and I am impressed. The camera is amazing with lots of options to get the perfect shot even in low light conditions. The S-pen remote capture is a very nice touch too. The battery easily lasts all day with heavy battery use. The S-pen has a lot of neat features and very useful.

Most of the time i research what i buy. i did research this one. rated the best between samsung s9 and note 9. 170.00 more but it's double the storage and much larger battery and it does a LOT more than the galaxy S9. it has a lot of updates when you first start up on it. that's typical. i love the size and the amoled display and the feel of it. ergonomical. some things haven't changed from the galaxies. i used to have those and then switched to lg, i think. compared to apple 10x, i thought is a better phone. I heard on tv apple is pricing themselves out of the market. they're getting expensive. they have no room anymore. i love the camera on this. i've always been a camera fanatic. not supposed to take the place of a good camera, but it's there in a pinch and its cool to get creative with it. THIS rocks. then there's the stylus and notes. lots of things to get creative with on this phone. the reviews say you can use photoshop on it also and that interested me. the note 10 is to come out in august and the selling point is the size. this is plenty big, my opinion. i'm staying put on this, but it's a great phone.

This phone does so many things, I love the stylus, I can use it as a pen a drawing tool , and just use it instead of my finger for everything. It's amazing lace precise and every time you pull it out of its little home a menu comes up for selection different options. It's a great stress reliever to sit there and draw. The other things I like about it or how fast it is in response time for everything you do. The features on every application are so many it could use some more ringtones and sound features I'm not sure if they're more downloadable ones or not I haven't tried. I do not like the Bixby that is one feature I do not like. So I disabled it. Has two voice keyboards Samsung and Google that you can choose from when you select the little three dotted bars on the right-hand corner at the bottom. The autocorrect on the voice options are annoying sometimes because you have to go back and correct them. But sometimes they get them correct if you speak slowly. I'm using the voice keyboard on Google to type this review, speaking slowly it's working. If I type the words the autocorrect is helpful if you pay attention to what it is showing you it'll give you words to choose from. But if you are not paying attention and you just keep typing it'll get them all messed up. I did have a lot of trouble with my carrier and the settings trying to get the MMS feature to work with this stock message app so much that I tried downloading other messaging apps to work with the phone. It took me a very long time to figure it out. Google was no help because there were a lot of other people with different carriers having the same problem for many years and there was no solution. But I figured that out on my own it is in the bearer settings under your mobile network settings scroll down to Bearer and play with settings by selecting certain ones and saving them to get the MMS feature to work. It took me 100's of tries, and don't be fooled just because one picture goes through does not mean the next one will. If that happens you have to go back and mess with the settings again until they all go through and stay that way. It's a pain in the butt but it's not the phone it's your network carrier are you SafeLink Wireless they had no idea how to fix it and they're on the AT&T lines, and AT&T said it was the phone but it was not, they couldn't fix it either. I had to do it on my own. I hope that helped somebody. But back to the phone itself double speakers wanted to top and one at the bottom and has awesome sound, the headphones that came with the phone or Crap the phone sounds better without them LOL. Extremes videos very well I watch TV on it Hulu and Netflix over Wi-Fi rather than the TV in my room because it buffers constantly. The graphics are fairly good they could be better but they are good. The YouTube videos play backs are great there is no delay the auto-play is working great on anything you try to play Facebook YouTube even the darn commercials LOL. Searches are quick there's no waiting I love that. If you have a fast internet than downloading on your Google Play Store app goes very quick. I have a lot of storage and I still out-of-state SD card so I don't think I'll ever run out of storage. However I do backup my phone because you just never know what can go wrong and I don't want to lose anything I've had that happen before. And you should probably get it by risk protection of some sort cuz even phones can get viruses. I just absolutely love the fingerprint option instead of logging into everything it's secure nobody else can get into your stuff and it's easy I don't have to type everything which is very annoying. Guess I better in this review before it turns into a novel.

Ive owned LG, Motorola and older Samsung phones, and this definitely lives up to its reputation. From the high quality generous screen, good camera, headphone jack, long lasting battery, i love this phone and its everything i look for. I will say samsung holds this phone back with thier pushing of thier own apps and services, mainly Bixby as a personal assistant, but some of them like the native contacts app is worth trying. After 7 months there is a slight drop in battery life (from 2 day constant use to 1 day constant use) but considering most phones only last a few hours before needing to be recharged after 6 months, thats not a drawback. There is also a very good native battery management app that worst case scenario can make the phone usable for phone calls untill you get to a charger.

A Note 8 S upgrade but now with more battery life

Note 8 was an excelllent phone that was held back by below average battery life. Samsung somehow has managed to improve all small shortcomings from the Note 8 but the major one which was battery is so much better. Battery life is why I ended up switching from the Note 8 to the LG V30+. When the Note 9 came out I waited for the reviews to appear to see if Samsung did something about the battery life. Most of the reviews mention on how much better it has improved with screen time duration being exteded by an 2-3hrs in most cases. Since the phone it's very expensive I figure I"ll wait till Black Friday but than Best Buy came out with the Trade In deal which in my opinion is the best deal you will get for this phone. My note 8 trade in shaved off $500 from the retail price. At this price point it was a good deal that was hard to pass up. The look and feel is very similiar to the Note 8 except for the slightly larger display and the fingerprint being on a much more easier position to reach. The edges have a chamfered finish to them that gives a more premium look. The good stuff the display probably the best mobile display currently out there for current smartphones. It's bright and colorful and no issues with outdoor visibility. Performance is good and especially on gaming where my LG V30+ would start to drop framerates on FortNite due to heat. Samsung did a good job on cooling the chipset to keep it from throttling. Speakers are now 2 and they are a night and day difference compared to the single speaker on the Note 8. The sound is much more louder and but also rich and fuller with the Dolby Atmos setting that works with everything so far. I leave it on the Auto setting. Storage is another area that I"m glad they double it from the 64gb default to now 128gb for base storage. They also kept microsd slot whichI still prefer because of how easy it is to tranfer all your media content like photos and stuff like that. Just insert the sd card to your new phone and all your stuff is there. So far I have not been able to find something negative about this phone besides the retail price of 1k. Without the trade in deal I don't think I would of gotten the phone even though I do feel if you pay full price for it you're getting your money worth. Cameras perform very well. The S Pen is something that I don't take advantage as a power user but with the added bluetooth functionality that lets you use the small button to take a picture, or pause music/videos is something that I can see myself using. Samsung is going to allow app developers to take advantage of it too. With all the improvements that Samsung has made to the Note 9 is probably the only device that can cater to multiple users. The screen is gorgeous so for media consumption your covered and the speakers is a nice added bonus. Performance is there for those that like to game on the go and now that the default storage has been doubled you no longer have to sacrifise apps to make room. Battery life compared to the Note 8 I can actually get a full day of out of it. For example Note 8 and Note 9 leaving my house at 70% battery life the Note 8 needed to be charged 4-6hrs later the Note 9 on the other hand I had enough charged left around 15-20% for the drive home. The S Pen does add functionality if you like to get some work done on your phone. It allows you to quickly write down notes, sign for documents and makes it easier to edit documents. It's like having a mouse when needed to do something like copy or highlight small text area where your finger would highlight 2 -3 lines of text. With all those upgrades this is a phone that you can comfortable hold on for a couple of years without feeling behind. With the current state of smartphones we reached a point where it's mainly small improvements to camera and nothing new besides battery life getting better overall and graphics for games. Another negative besides asking price is the software updates from Samsung. They have made improvements but still not good as a Pixel Phone from Google so don't expect the latest Android OS until early 2019 or fast security updates. If you're looking for a big phone this is the one to get. The phone offers so much functionality for all type of users.

Have had my eye on a Note for a good long while, and finally pulled the trigger when I decided to upgrade my phone for an upcoming overseas trip. TOTALLY loving it! The camera, with its image quality and options, is impressive. It's obviously not the equal of my DSLR, but I won't have a problem using this for general tourist-type photography at all and leaving the big camera back at the hotel except for specialized shooting. No problems so far with any of the various apps I've downloaded. And I was really surprised to find that it was almost the same physical size as the Sky J whatever I had - just a little longer, but definitely more screen real estate, and lighter. And as someone who's always been inclined to scribble notes, I completely love having the option of pulling out the pen and jotting something down. Have had it about two weeks, so lots more to explore, but I'm incredibly pleased so far.

My son convinced me to upgrade from my Samsung Edge 7 to the Samsung Note 9 and I was very reluctant because of the Note 9's price tag. My Edge was operating just fine, however the battery life was dismal and being a Real Estate Broker in Tampa, I need a phone I can count on to get into properties. The main catalyst for the upgrade was that my son wanted the Fortnite skin that came with the phone purchase. This was the only thing he asked me for at Christmas. I made the purchase the day after Christmas and honestly have only charged the phone every other day at the most since I bought it, despite using it constantly. If this stays the case during my ownership of the device, I will be very happy that I upgraded. I don't notice anything different if the speed of things loading or in the ability to have multiple windows open at once, but I love that it hasn't crashed or acted squirrly even once.

I upgraded from the 7 Edge, which I was not happy with at all, terrible battery life, had issues with phone from beginning. Unless I'm watching videos, the Note 9 battery lasts all day (the 7 would be dead by noon). I have a 'day job', plus my husband and I have our own business, and I am the Board of Directors President for our local shelter, so my phone is my life line and battery life is crucial. No issues receiving or making calls. No problems connecting to Bluetooth. The screen (resolution, etc) is great. I don't do selfies, or a lot of phone pics in general, haven't played with any of the settings or effects, so can't say a whole lot on the camera, other than, one day didn't have my Nikon with me, so used my phone to take some pics of my dad with a vintage Jag and they turned out good. I do listen to music on my phone, and while it obviously is not a 'sound system', it's pretty good.

It's the prettiest phone I've ever had. but it is very high and it is uncomfortable. the software is not as fluid as I would like, but it is very powerful. What I'm saying is that the animations and transitions are clumsy if we compare them with a Pixel or iPhone. the screen is amazing. the camera very good, the S Pen very useful and the battery WOW! it's excellent.

What makes this phone unique is the cool features and modify it how the user wants it. Like making it faster, watching 4k movies, save more battery and modify how music sounds like adding more bass. This device also has dolby atmos which has the phone speakers sound directly to your ears when watching a video horizontally. It also enhances your music and movies when wearing headphones. The performance of the camera is brilliant, the picture quality downgrades a bit when taking a pic on snapchat due to the app being meant for apple devices. The battery performance very good it can last you 6-12 hours depending on how you want the phone to perform and what you are doing with it. In conclusion this phone is a masterpiece based on how the user can modify it how he wants it.

My Note 4 was acting up and became very unreliable (random starts, random lock ups, and error messages even after clearing the cache and doing a reset). I bought the Note 9 and was amazed at how far technology has progressed: great WQHD+ OLED screen (can view in sunlight), better camera and images, larger screen size, better speakers (Dolby Atmos), insane battery life, 256gig memory (added 128 gig card), smooth scrolling, faster speed, better pen. I updated to latest android version (PIE) with One UI and it is great! I went from the stone age to the modern age! lol I was holding out for the Note X (Note 10) but just could not last that long. I will probably get that once it comes out since that was the phone I really wanted...if price is, ahem, "reasonable". lol

Very good phone. It's a small upgrade if you already have note 8. Good camera but to me the picture quality is almost the same with the note 8 that I have. Love the remote function of the stylus to control the camera. Hopefully OS updates is faster since Samsung is well known to be a bit slow on updating their phones. Decided to get the unlocked version for overseas use. Have use S8 plus unlocked version in Asia and can get LTE from local carrier, hopefully can do the same with this unlocked note9. Tried the note8 Verizon version in Asia and can only get H+, guess the unlocked version has more frequency compatibility.

I bought the phone during the Black Friday Sale prior to attending my family's Thanksgiving. It was definitely a huge upgrade from my HTC One from 4 years ago. I was able to sign over documents easily using the stylus and get things done without having to be at work or to worry about paperwork piling up that only needed a split seconds worth of attention. Not only does the stylus make the phone extremely practical, but the screen and battery life have zero competition. The screen projects vivid color with ease even in automatic brightness mode. Never have I seen a screen illuminate so clearly without draining the battery. I am able to put my phone down after all day use at 30% battery life instead of throwing it on the charger four to five times a day.
