I purchased the Samsung as a gift for my sister. This came with no instructions as to how to use the features. As a beginner to tablets I believed there would be better instruction on how to use the tablet. I did make an appointment for her to learn but it was very confusing. Another person was there who was more advanced and the Samsung person was going back and forth answering most of the questions the other person asked. It was not a good learning situation for a complete novice. She became so discouraged that she won't even try to use the tablet. I should have saved my money. Group classes should be geared to people at the same learning level.

This is my first tablet and Samsung product and I love it! I'm very impressed and very happy with this purchase. Fast performance, no stutter or lag with a few apps open at once. Great device to surf the web, social media, emails, watch videos, write documents and more. Beautiful high-res display, great battery life and charges very quickly with the included fast charger, expandable storage with a micro SD card. It takes good quality photos too. I was able to update to Android 7.0 right out of the box. The only downside is that the navigation buttons aren't lit, making it impossible to see in the dark...you just have to know where they are. All in all, it's a fantastic tablet for the price. Bought it on sale for $199. Best Buy even honored their price difference when it went on sale for $179 two weeks later. Can't beat it!

I found the Samsung Tab A by chance after returning a Kindle. This tablet is quick, no problems connecting to Wifi, Bluetooth, Wifi Printing, etc. 2 step processes in most cases, I click the button the tablet does the rest. O my, what a beautiful screen, one reason I chose this tablet opposed to viewing the others. 1920*1200 ICD is more than what I would get in Ipad mini. I was looking for a tablet causing less strain on my eye because I read a lot. This Tablet is the answer, I rarely have to use my reading glasses, no glare and the backlighting works great for me. Haven't tried the nightlight yet, no need really, No more tired eyes. I knew I had made the right choice. I bought a small Bluetooth keyboard, one I could carry in my purse, to assist me, as I type a lot on either my laptop or desktop. With the use of the keyboard, I really have become accustomed to using this Galaxy Tab A just as much now as I do the other devices. This is not a tablet that sit on the shelf or to use occasionally, I carry everywhere, especially when I am teaching......so convenient, so smart, so quick, so smooth, Word, Excell, Pdf, all work well so I am well pleased with my purchase. I have had the Tablet for about 1 month and found the 7300mAh battery life to be amazing...haven't tried the camera yet, because I am busy reading, typing, emailing, browsing, etc with this great tablet. Fonts crystal clear, I am glad I purchased this device. This one is a Winner!!!

I purchased my Galaxy Tab A 10.1” because I wanted a larger screen to get things done like reading email, web browsing etc. Pros: It has a great large bright screen, and the weight it’s very comfortable to hold. Mine came with 16GB, so I added microSD card I had on hand. I like that the SD card works seamlessly, and It can be expanded up 256GB. Additionally, although it comes with a Marshmallow processor when I turned it on it was automatically updated to Nougat 7.0. I can open two apps side by side, which allows me to easily and comfortably multitask on that large screen. It has a long-lasting battery, and the Exynos 7870 Octa-core processor is super fast. Cons: The back button is positioned where it’s easy to accidentally touch, especially when I hold it in landscape mode. Overall rating: despite the skittish back button ( and since 4.5 stars is not an option) I give my Galaxy Tab A 10.1” an overall rating of 5 stars.

I have been using this tablet daily for about a week and highly recommend this tablet for any purpose. It has an excellent HD screen (1080P vs the 720P found on cheaper tablets), excellent battery life (about 25% more than most competitive tablets), appears to have good build quality, is very fast and has a minimum of manufacturer loaded junk apps. Everything works as it should. Although I'm an iPhone user I much prefer Android tablets rather than iPads because the Androids are a better value and a must have feature for me is screen cast or screen mirroring to a SmartTV which you can't do on an iPad (this function is very limited on an iPad, requires Apple TV and only a few apps will work). This tablet has Android 6 which I like much better than the 4.4 Kit Kat on my current tablet or Android 5 which I have limited experience with. The Samsung has a physical home button and the 'recent' and 'back' buttons are always in the same place on the screen so if you are using the tablet in portrait mode the controls are on the bottom but in landscape the buttons are on the right side. Also, when all of the controls are soft controls as on my previous tablet they are usually lighted (always backlit?) which makes them easier to use. In the dark when watching a video it can be a little difficult to hit the back or recent buttons. However, the button situation is minor and you can get used to it. Especially as I was able to get the tablet for $240 using the Best Buy price match offer I think that this was an excellent buy. Don't be led astray by a cheaper tablet which has a lower definition screen, slower processor and/or less internal RAM (different from storage).

This tablet is so easy to use! I especially like the fact that I can use a memory card to increase my storage. The other Tablet (You know which company I am writing about.) does not allow for increased memory, unless one is willing to pay a lot more. The graphics in my new Galaxy Tab A are vivid. I also like the larger screen. It's lightweight and easy to handle. Syncing with my other device was not complicated at all! Additionally, I was able to find a beautiful, leather case to place my tablet in after surfing the net. A pen was also included with the case at a reasonable price! I am very happy with my choice to purchase this tablet and the cost was tablet perfect! .

So far I'm really not that excited about using the tablet. While it has many features and should be usable by anyone who uses a computer there are some things that anyone using it really needs to know. --A few major flaws this thing has is the Internal storage (capacity, system, default settings, default installed applications) I know it sounds odd putting it this way but stay with me here. When transferring files you may or may not have issues with this device connecting to something else (in my attempts it was windows 8.1). For the first attempt it worked fine. For latter attempts I would randomly get hang ups where the Tablet and computer didn't want to work together. I would trouble shoot this by disabling, and re-enable the transferring and it would sometimes fix the issue. Another time I'd have to disconnect them both and restart to get it to function properly. Next default apps, Samsung has a LOT of default apps that you can NOT uninstall, and these apps can not be transferred to an external memory card (MICRO SD). This also means while it might start with16 gb of space your only getting about 6-9 gigs worth of original space that is not managed well and that is space not already used by default junk. I have had constant issues trying to keep it clean and usable. This takes me to my next issue when trying to get everything shifted to SD cards. In order to do this you have to use an app manager, then click on one of the apps to see where it is stored (and see if it can be moved). IF it can be moved then you have to click on the location it is stored, then on another screen to tell it to be moved, then you have to back out of those screens to click on the next app and try again. (WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!? KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!) EXTERNAL Memory issues- So part of saving internal memory space is the ability to send a lot of data to micro SD card. IF there is the option of making this the default location I have yet to find it. AND I don't think the tablet actually transfers the whole app to the SD card. This means while you might have 100 gb space in your SD card your internal memory will get chewed up and there is nothing you can do about it. I'm also not a big fan of the way the tablet transfers data or files. While it does work it is not what I'd call smooth in regards to function and form. I'm currently under the impression that companies are in such a hurry to put out the Next big sale, they are making products worse and worse. Leaving out better functioning, better programs, and longer lasting products. They are still stuck in the age of disposable consumerism that started with the baby boom. This Tablet also has a built in magnetic setting that shuts off the screen when you flip the case around and try to hold it like a tray. I hate that feature because I can't seem to change it. And I like to hold the tablet on something solid and work on it that way. But when it puts the tablet into an automatic sleep mode till I move the magnetic case it just feels like another bell or whistle that they never stopped to ask "does this item really need this function?". So some good things about this tablet A /with out pen. The screen resolution is really good and the brightness on the screen is so bright I constantly keep it on a very minimal setting and can still see the screen. The battery life is fantastic and can out live my computer. The speed is good and apps, and web pages can load quickly and comparable to a laptop or desktop. I really enjoy watching movies, or using the sound boards to create ambient music for running games. I can also have a few screens open on the back ground and shift between them but I have not found a case where the split screen was useful. I like having the whole 10 inch screen open.

I bought this tablet to replace a 4-1/2 year old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 that was becoming very slow. The newer Samsung tablet is faster (as should be expected), and the newer Android software has some cool features, like the ability to view multiple windows at once. There a few new usability annoyances, however: (1) The three "buttons" at one end of the tablet are not illuminated, so you have to remember where they are in order to operate them in the dark. (2) The buttons are too easy to activate inadvertently, particularly when using the tablet in landscape mode, because they are in the location where a user would naturally grip the tablet. (The buttons are closer to the edge than they were on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.) This is annoying because when actuated the buttons throw you out of whatever task you are doing at the time. (3) The two built in speakers are both at one end of the tablet, which is not conducive to watching videos or playing games in landscape mode, because all of the sound is on one side. My old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 had one speaker at each end. (4) When used in the landscape orientation (which is the primary orientation where sound is important), the volume rocker switch works backwards. Pressing the left side of the rocker increases volume, and moves the volume indicator in the notification pop-up to the right. Pressing the right side of the rocker decreases volume, and moves the volume indicator to the left. This is opposite from how my old Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 worked. (5) The tablet sometimes asks me to enter my password in order to turn it off! I haven't been able to figure out yet why it does that. Usually consumer products become more user friendly with successive models, as the designers and engineers learn from past mistakes. Strangely, with Samsung tablets this trend sometimes seems to go in the opposite direction.

This thing is outstanding. Crisp graphics and bright display. The processing power is really good and I have had no issue with many applications open at the same time. Put in the 32 GB SD chip and now it goes with me to work as well. Battery life is really impressive. I have it on for 1/2 the day at work and then music and streaming in the evening. For 10 hours of use I still end up with 25% battery life left. Forget the Apple thing. This is less than half the price and works GREAT!!!

I was initially disappointed and hesitated to purchase the 2016 model of this tablet because I was hoping for the same or better screen resolution and quality, same or better processor, and as much internal memory as either of the 2015 S2 models. Some of the tech reviews were critical for this reason. But I wanted the same screen dimensions as my S7 cell phone, but with a bigger screen in a wi-fi device, so that I can get the most viewing ease out of android applications and videos that have a fixed dimension for use on cell phones (e.g. Periscope) without the wasted screen space as black bars. The S2's vertical orientation, as compared to the horizontal orientation of older tablet models, also doesn't make as much sense to me. I carefully compared applications and images on this model with the identical same on the S2 side-by-side in the store. There was no perceptible difference in performance despite the differences in processors. If anything, pictures seemed to load faster on the Tab "A," Both have the latest Android OS. The "A" had a brighter screen and the S2 model had slightly more rich color saturation and crispness. Emphasis on the word "slightly." I could not detect the very slight difference in screen resolution on identical sample pictures. When I got it home and loaded all of my own apps, I was totally impressed with the excellent screen resolution, color and richness of detail in the display of my videos and pictures. I was also initially concerned about the limited 16GB internal memory, as the OS and apps left just 7 GB of space for data. However fast micro SD cards are so much less expensive now that it's easy and typically more cost-effective to use them than to buy a device with more internal memory. You can add up to a whopping 200 GB of additional storage in a micro SD card (works great in my cell phone) - making this a non-issue for me. Samsung's S2 tablet has one of the best screens that you can buy and the Tab "A" display also seems much better than most of the competition to me. While this newer item is not discounted like some of the older and more expensive S2 models (newer S2s available later in the summer will not have the same discount), given the display dimensions I wanted and the almost imperceptible difference in performance, it seemed to be a much better value at this time to me.

This tablet is shared between my son and I. I run Zoom Cloud Meeting Software & the Microsoft Apps for work, Chromecast from it, Netflix, & several other programs. I downloaded the free Kids Mode (dinosaur icon) from the Samsung store to keep my son out of my work stuff. He runs Minecraft PE, Red Ball, Epic! books, Speakaboos, Nick Jr. Videos, ABC Mouse, and several other apps. We have experienced no lag or glitches. The children's software is excellent. You can move many apps to an SD card (I had an SD from a previous tablet). The camera is good. You can make multiple users if you so desire as well as restricted user. It also works well with Bluetooth devices.

I did my online research, and with enthusiastic, informed reps, made a decision to go with the newest Galaxy Tab 10.1. After 4 days of continuous use, there are no glitches. The length is the same as my 1st generation Note 10.1, but the narrower frame makes holding the tablet easier, and the 16:1 viewing ratio makes watching movies a cinch. Fast, even with the slower 2.5 router speed...Battery recharges quckly with the same fast charger I use to charge my Samsung Note 4, and lasted me all day (approx 8.5 hrs of use) with 1/5 battery remaining. This is a keeper.

I didn't want anything overly complicated or too expensive and I knew Samsung was a good brand to check out. My mom loves it!
