    Perfect watch for my needs

I upgraded from my first smartwatch, a Pebble Time, since my switch to a Galaxy S10 didn't go over well with it. My wants for that one were notifications and music controls on my wrist. Lately I've found myself wanting fitness-tracking features. The Galaxy Watch Active delivers that perfectly for me - I've used it for walks, mountain biking, even Beat Saber. I also like the sleep tracking, though I don't know what value I actually get out of it... As far as fit and feel, the included band is very comfortable, and the watch is small and light enough that I don't take much notice of it. The green color is evident, but not flashy. User interface is very smooth, and the touch bezel update is fun (but not perfect). Without the always-on display, I can get a little over 2 days' use out of the battery (with the S10, I do get the benefit of Wireless PowerShare, which is super cool!) I'm extremely satisfied with the level of quality and features that it offers, especially for the sale price.

I wish this model came with the high blood pressure monitor, but the upgrade price for it wasn't justified. This original version does all but that. I purchased this model during a sale promotion. A bit sensitive to touch. Smartwatch tracks all my fitness, you can customize face, widgets easily. Must download Samsung health and Wear for optimal information. Was able to link my scale to their app and track my weight goals. The watch looks great, face size is perfect on my wrist, doesn't look bulky. Battery life isn't great, if you want to track your sleep you will need to find downtime to charge up. Bixby is great on this watch as well. Lots of options on this product.

    Best smartwatch I've owned!

I've owned a variety of brands of smartwatches - Zenwatch, Fossil, and others, the Galaxy Watch Active is the best. The different operating system was an easy adjustment. It works faster, more smoothly and more intuitively than the others did. Tracks heart, breathing, calories burned, stress levels and more. The fitness reminders are helpful without being obtrusive. The watch design is less bulky and more attractive than any other I've owned, especially for small wrists like mine. It comes with two bands - large and small. The one drawback is the built-in assistant, Bixby. It has very limited functions. I over came that by porting the Google Assistant onto the watch. ( Google it!) With a double tap on the home key now I can use Google features. Overall, it's a pleasure to use and wear!

This is an awesome active watch. I was comparing this to the active 2 and after finding out they added the feature everyone seemed to enjoy the most (rotating bezel feature) through an update I couldn't pass it up for the sale price it was listed at. I've been enjoying it since I got it and so has my wife. The only small downside is it doesn't have a speaker. So you only get vibration notifications but my phone is always with me so I don't mind. Also a plus is that if you want to go on a run without your phone (interruptions) you can add music files to your watch and just connect your Bluetooth headphones to your watch and leave the phone behind.

I've had the bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy watches, but they were all to big for my small wrist. I didn't get the smaller ones because I like the round face better. This one fits my wrist perfectly. It's not to tight or to loose. I love Samsung products.

I love it, its def what I want. It's not too big like the other Samsung watch, I love the rose gold color, texting is cool, steps, and notifications. But..... like everyone is saying the battery doesnt last for few days. Mine is about 2 days then I have to charge it. I guess it depends how much you use it. The charging port doesnt hold it well, so make sure you are charging it flat. I've slept on it and I love how it tells me my sleeping pattern and when i go to bed, but like I said every other night, you need to charge it. Sometimes it's slow when you are trying to do the talk to text and be very clear and sometimes loud. Over all, I really like it. It's good for people with smaller wrist and I've got compliments and looked at.

I am very happy with this watch. It is low profile, so it doesn't get caught on my clothing. I can access calculator, messages, emails, activity info, weather, calendar, voice memo, contacts with ease. I like the options for responding to messages...type, write, emoji, pre-written replies. Cons: battery needs charged daily (so do Apple products) and bluetooth does not seem to transmit very far. Works fine throughout my 3 story home, but once I go outside without my phone, it disconnects

I absolutely love this watch, its sleek and has all the features of the bigger, bulkier galaxy watches. It paired amazingly with my s8 plus and even better with my new S10 plus. It has so many features I'm still learning them. I absolutely love that it is water proof and I can wear it anywhere or anytime and it tracks my sleep, steps, workouts and heart rates. It makes it so easy for me to stick to my health plans. I would recommend this over and over for any lifestyle.

The need to recharge daily is a negative though it still tracks despite being on low power mode. I love that you can change the size of the time Display font (I can’t see regular typical font w/o glasses). The 40mm size display isn’t too large for women, even on my skinny arm, but I am more comfortable with the rose display and band. Very feminine looking. Negative is that neither the website or watch displays more than the current week details whereas the FitBit or VeryFitPro (Spade watch) websites are more easily followed, but then the watch itself is better than either of the others.

The only surprise (since it wasn't available to view in stores before ordering) was that the color is more blue than the pictures. It also seems like the watch is kind of thick but it's the first smart watch I've owned. Once it's on my wrist, it doesn't seem huge. It is very comfortable to wear. The battery life is maybe a little short? It's not quite 2 fulls days and I'm not sure what settings would prolong that. All that being said, I am really happy with it, I would recommend it, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on features that other versions have.

I have a Apple Watch 4 and looking for a inexpensive watch for walking and working out without worrying about breaking. The Fitbit was garbage, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is a little more expensive than I wanted to pay but a nice watch. This is exactly want I wanted for a workout watch without all the bells and whistles as the Apple Watch. The design is actually really nice, but the watch face is a bit smaller than expected, but it actually fits nice and hardly know it's on. Here are the good and bad. GOOD: Attractive with nice clear screen, lightweight, a lot of watch faces, watchband east to take on/off, More apps than I expected. Easy to setup and sync, pretty accurate. BAD: Disappointed with battery life. I was hoping to get at least a couple day charge, but barely lasts a day. IOS app is buggy and can't always connect to the Galaxy Store. Not too many watchbands available for the Galaxy Active. Backup/Restore is worthless, because it can't really backup anything useful like the data and watch faces. I reinstalled the IOS app and lost all the data and had to re-pair and reinstall everything. Samsung need to supply a reliable cloud backup/restore as Apple does. It's not an Apple Watch, but I think it's a pretty decent watch compared to others on the market.

I really like this watch , it show all my text messages , it let's me read all my emails. it keeps track of my heart rate & it keeps track of my walking distance and it encourages me to walk more . It's really a great watch, I've have this watch for over a month and a week , I'm also still learning it. I only wish I would have waited just a lil bit longer, they now have the Samsung Galaxy active watch 2 out now.

I choose to buy this watch as an add on to my s10+ and galaxy buds combo, and it just seemed to be the perfect fit for what i need without having to pay more for the extra features i didnt really need.(I.e. built in speakers) with this, im able to take/reject calls, which is just perfect since i could just use my buds to talk through. Really nice screen thats not too big, nor too small. Reply to texts with voice and handwriting inputs methods, Samsung pay, and most of course, all the health featured apps already built in on top of the convenient access to a lot of customized notifications without having the need to pull my phone out each time to check. Highly recommended over the flagship galaxy watches sold for over a hundred bucks extra!

After 11 yrs, my Samsung Gear 2 quit working. It was a great product for as long as it lasted; I was spoiled. Shopping for a replacement, I chose the Active 40mm b/c of the screen size. I wanted a speaker to answer calls & listen to music, which the Active 2 has, but it looked too big on my wrist. And instead of paying another $100 for a speaker, I got an excellent pair of wireless earbuds, which worked out fine. There are a plethora of watch faces & apps to customize your watch. The Health/Fitness app is helpful, easy-to-use. Alarms/reminders only vibrate since there's no speaker, but you can select the intensity. Amoled screen is beautiful, sharp, crisp & bright and it's coated w/Gorilla Glass. Currently, my battery lasts almost 2 full days. There are quite a few watch band options available, too (for add'l purchase). Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. The pic is a bit distorted- watch face is actually smaller than it appears.

This watch does pretty much what you expect it to. You can track your steps, workouts, agenda, and time and weather. The one feature thats missing from the watch is that you can not make phone calls directly from the watch. You will also not receive any notifications for calls or texts if the linked phone is not available. It does not feature a speaker to listen to music. You can connect bluetooth speakers or headphones to watch but will work only with watch so it will not work with phone calls you receive which is pointless. The best feature is you can add various apps and the watch has some good specs to handle most of them. Good watch if you dont need to make phone calls with it. Best if bought at reduced price.

Absolutely love this watch. It does everything all the other top brand watches do except have a speaker other than that its great. Only bad thing is the battery life stinks. You pretty much need to charge it every night or it will more than likely die during the day.

So I bought this to replace my aging Samsung Gear S2, and it absolutely ticks all the boxes. Its slim, light and you barely notice you're wearing it. This is such an improvement over the previous Gear watches which were rather bulky. The operating system is snappy and responsive and so much better than competitors out there. The battery life is great so far, I'm averaging two to three days of use with a mixture of exercise and just normal wearing on normal settings. The lack of a rotating bezel is sad, I still miss that from my Gear S2 but everything else this does makes it worth it. The always tracking Heart Rate is really cool, lots of data to look at, as is the always tracking stress data. But overall I'm still just so impressed with how fluid and fast using this watch feels, especially compared to the previous Samsung watch it replaced.

I'm coming from a gear fit to an active 2 which is amazing when comparing the two. It as a speaker so you can talk from watch, workout features, heart rate, it even monitors your stress level. Just a great watch all the way round. I gave a 4 star because the battery life is not that great, the hours it show you have left is not true, watch must be charged every night. Battery life may last you 36hrs max.

I've had this watch for a few months. It's my first smart watch, and there's a lot I like about it, and some things that I hope Samsung can fix in a software update. The good includes that it seems pretty durable, and it's easy to use. I think it counts my steps well and does a good job with heart rate. The bad has to do with accuracy, and here I'm taking about in measuring workouts and providing data. This morning, I ran 4 miles. My Galaxy S8 says it was 4 miles, and my watch says it was 3.89. Samsung Health on my phone says I burned 822 calories, while my watch says I burned 466. The calorie count isn't huge for me--just a guideline anyway, but the distance thing is irksome. My biggest complaint though is open water swimming. This is the reason I bought this watch. Yesterday I swam a mile, and I restarted the tracking at the turn around point. It's a regular swim for me, and I know how far it is, which is good because my watch told me I swam 0.29 miles out and burned 54 calories, but the return trip was 0.06 miles and I burned 2 calories. Obviously, each leg was half a mile. I'd really like it if this watch could do a better job of measuring this distance, because I would like to track my sins in other places where I don't have landmarks. Again, the calorie count is not a huge issue, but it used to tell me that I burned 3000 calories during that same swim (which never has the same distance recorded even though I swim the exact same course). I'm not sure why the Samsung Health app and the SH widget on my watch use different algorithms to determine calorie burn, and I can't figure out why the Galaxy Watch Active does such a poor job of tracking my swims. It does better in pool swims (separate widget), but if you pause to clear your goggles mid-lap, it's going to count that lap twice (and you will PR that lap). Here's hoping someone from Samsung will see this review and they can develop a patch for it. Oh, the battery life is not "days" unless you're sedentary. I charge mine every night, and when I did a Sprint Tri last weekend, it died on me later that day. How much battery life you get is directly correlated to how active you are! Still, I love that I can listen to music without having my phone with me, although without my phone, the watch can't send or receive texts or emergency alerts, so if I'm going to be out of my neighborhood, I still put my phone in a running belt.
