Mediocre battery life and a pretty cramped outside screen, but everything else is amazing. Having this massive display in your pocket is just wonderful and super helpful.

it took me a few days to get used to it and get around all the features. after that I started thinking less of my iPhone 13 Pro Max. the inner screen is mind blowing and the crease is not something that bothers me. the quality is better and the screen is better Thant the Fold 2. battery is okay but not great. the camera is decent but no the best. I recommend it but there are some compromises.

This is my 3rd Galaxy fold... Ive had every iteration of the fold since the first one and im so enjoying these new foldable phones. I come from the Note series and every since ive jumped over to the folds, ive never looked back... Especially now that you can buy an (Spen) for the fold now which makes it perfect now.
The price is a little cheaper this time, with a smaller battery then the last, but its still such a great phone.

I love my new GZ Fold 3..the front and flip open screens are awesome. I love watching movies with the larger phone screen. I was really impressed with touching the screen with 2 fingers to open up wide screen..front screen keyboard is a lil too tight but I've gotten used to it

Has been great. Most ppl i think to rough on their phones. There is a few small care things u need to do but as long as u do those phone should have no issues. One of the biggest is as soon as the screen starts peeling get it replaced because debris will get under it what ultimate will damage ur screen. But u have never used a case in mine and it's basically like new.

Before purchasing the Z Fold 3 I read and watched more than a few reviews, visited Best Buy and T-mobile stores several times, and asked myself why I should spend this kind of money for a Smartphone. I came to the conclusion that I certainly didn't NEED the Z Fold 3, but that, with Best Buy's return policy, I was taking only a minimal risk by buying one and seeing if the satisfaction of owning and using it justified the price. For me, it certainly does.
There can be no single set of evaluation criteria that will address every potential user's priorities. Many reviews focus on the quality of the Z Fold 3's cameras. For me, the cameras are more than good enough. Likewise speed, display quality, and sound quality are more than good enough. I find the Z Fold 3's appearance, size, weight, and build quality very satisfying. I enjoy using both the inner and outer screens. The S pen case, while it could use improvement, is good enough.
The Z Fold 3's usefulness, the EXPERIENCE of working with it s, to me, it's most significant quality. It's a beautiful tablet with a nearly PERFECT form factor. I use the Microsoft Swift Key keyboard and type more easily and accurately than on any other handheld device I've owned. I wrote this review using the Z Fold 3. I can work productively with spreadsheets and documents. I can read PDF's. This is the digital assistant I've been hoping for since my first Palm Pilot. And yes, the Z Fold 3 answers phone calls competently.
When the battery life improves, and when I can use the Z Pen on the outer screen, I will gladly award the fifth star.
I'm a senior citizen who has always found evolving technology fascinating. The Z Fold 3 ranks among the most most fascinating pieces of technology I have used.

The samsung fold is the best phone on the market right now. In my opinion. I love the size of this phone. Its easy to use. The big screen scares alot of people, but the phone is extremely durable. Ive dropped it a fee times and it still works great. Yes I have scratches and scrapes but everything else is perfect. This will be my phone of choice for a minute.

A piece of the future

8 short years ago in CES 2013, Samsung showed us what the future could look like with a video showcasing a conceptual folding phone. The video was cringe, but the future was appealing.
A little more than 2 years ago, with the launch of the first Galaxy Fold, Samsung made the first step into the future. Baby steps.
Today, I'm holding a piece of this future.
The first Galaxy Fold wasn't exactly a success, multiple review units had their screens broken before it even shipped to the public, the whole fiasco colored me deeply skeptical towards foldables. But the novelty of a water resistant foldable is hard to ignore. One too many episodes of Mr. Mobile's videos later, here I am, holding my very first foldable.
Let's start with the elephant in the... fold?
The internal screen is, like any other flexible screen, soft. There's still a long list of cautions when you set up the phone for the first time, and thanks to the newfound compatibility with Samsung's S-pen digital styli*, now even longer.
* Only the S-Pen Fold Edition and S-Pen Pro in fold mode are compatible, other styli may damage the screen.
There's a screen protector on the internal screen, and you seem to be able to remove it - Samsung strongly advises against doing this. The protector feels like TPU, users of Skinomi or IQ Shield films will feel right at home, this sentiment is shared by your oily fingerprints. The crease is still there, easily discernable under strong light, your fingertips can feel it too. Also returning from last year is the bumper trim protecting the screen, this year's trim has a flat profile and has a more natural look.
What did not return from last year, is the camera cut out. A 4MP camera is tucked underneath the flexible display, at the 3/4 point along the top edge. To improve optical qualities, the pixels are less dense above the camera. Don't believe what tech YouTube tells you, when the pixels are lit up, you can absolutely notice this patch of weirdness. Even worse, the pixels are large enough that you can even make out the R/G/B subpixels. Now I'm complaining about a flexible display on a waterproof phone, with a camera hidden below it! Anyways, this UDC does not have the same levels of image quality as other front facing cameras, and it is intended as a video call camera.
I cannot go on without discussing the experience of actually using the main display, so I'm going to do it right now.
The display is taller than it is wide, as a result, the height of the phone limits how large your videos can go. When watching 64:21 (commonly, and incorrectly, known as 21:9) movies, the experience is not significantly better than a large slate phone. In fact, in these cases my old LG (RIP) V60 has more effective screen size than the Fold 3. But when the video aspect ratio goes down to 16:9, the experience goes beyond what any pocket friendly slate phone can offer.
Watching YouTube videos isn't the only thing this screen is good at. Opening spread sheets, reading documents, things that are only "doable" on a normal slate phone, the Fold 3 makes then enjoyable.
As an added benefit, you can also open two apps side by side. But if that's why you are looking at this device, the Microsoft Surface Duo, or any of LG Mobile's old dual screen offerings might be a better choice. Those are significantly less costly, and you don't have to treat the screen with nearly the same levels of care.
Before we fold the main screen shut, let's take another look at it, with the screen half folded. In this position, you can rest the phone on its external screen, stabilize a camera shot, use it for video call, some other uses I can't think of.
With the phone folded, you are left with a narrow, thick, heavy and remarkably dense device. Feels like you can whack someone over the head with it. The chassis is trapezoid in shape, to give the main screen an acceptable bending radius and avoid crushing small foreign objects, like dirt, onto the panel. Even at its thickest point, the Fold 3 is thinner than an LG V60 with the second screen installed, which is quite impressive.
Front and back panels are made of glass, proper hard glass just like any other phone. Gorilla Victus apparently. The back panel was frosted in a very satisfying manner, I mistook it for anodized Aluminum, before realizing that the Fold 3 can do wireless charging.
The hinge is glossy. Considering the fact that most cases, including many of Samsung's own, don't cover the hinge, it's a bit of a bad move. Not only does it have a solid claim to the title of the most attractive new home for your fingerprints, it is also likely to scratch with long term use.
Now, the external screen.
With the device folded, the Fold 3 is a fully functioning modern smart phone. But fully functioning is the best descriptor this experience deserves. The screen has an aspect ratio of around 24.5/9. Remember that candy bar prototype Essential (that weird phone company) showed off two years ago? Imagine that, but twice as thick.
While the elongated screen is useful for scrolling through messages and social media feeds, it is also very narrow, making it very hard to type on a 26-key keyboard. The external screen is not even as wide as the iPhone SE2's (in today's world) tiny 4.7inch screen. We spent an entire decade on QWERTY touch keyboard, going back to 10-key on a $1800 smartphone feels a little bit insulting.
At least the external screen is protected by hard glass and Samsung doesn't care if you remove the factory screen protector on this one.
There's a 10MP front facing camera on this side, circular cutout top middle.
Both the external and internal screens have up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
Speaking of cameras, despite having a redesigned camera extrusion, the three camera sensors below it are the same as the last Fold, which in turn is inherited from the S10 series. This hardware doesn't stand out in today's market, and Samsung foldables are still a few steps away from no compromise. It's good enough, but you can get better results for less.
One thing Samsung did not compromise on is charging. Wired charging is rated at 25W and wireless at 10W, in line with other Samsung flagships. Which you will need, because the 4400mAh total capacity is not only lower than the S21 Ultra, it's also a step down from the last Fold's 4500mAh. The decrease in thickness came at a cost.
The only accessories included are a C to C cable and a SIM pin, the box is very minimalist.
Samsung also offers a bunch of weird perks with the Z Fold3, called Z Premier. Ranging from Evernote subscription to a box of sweet treats. uh, ok?
I guess that's the end of my review... did I miss something? The performance?
Typical S888 I guess? Outperforms Apple A14 in MT, not as good in terms of graphics. A lot of less costly phones provide the same performance, nothing special.

The Galaxy fold is a great phone if you are willing to sacrifice some things. You do get a bigger screen which is great but you have to ignore the the crease in the middle of the screen and you have to deal with the increased thickness in your pocket. The hinge is rather fragile, so don’t even think about getting sand or dust in there. While I really enjoyed the fold I think Samsung needs to iron out the problems for a few generations. I ultimately decided to stick to my iPhone and have a separate iPad.

Great phone, far smarter than I at this time, and hardly taking advantage of it's capabilities. Heavy, as it's literally two phones bonded together, and it's battery power is likewise, doubled as if using the external display, vs internal double pane display, battery life seems very deep. Weight and size makes it prone to drops, and "glass "case" back" is delicate, and easily cracked, necessitating a proper protective case as soon as purchased. Triple camera, plus selfie, plus internal all play well together providing excellent images and video. Sound is acceptable. Large internal screen is optimal for viewing text without glasses, and mapping/navigation aps, as well as sheet music, etc. to be able to read easily when mounted. Looking fwd to spending more time getting to know and use full functionality and power of this smartphone for years, should it hold up. (ie. - my Gshock flip phone was indestructible and waterproof . . . not so this one).

Nice phone. Large unfolded screen is nice, but accumulates dust quick. Smaller unfolded screen takes some getting used to coming from standard smart phones. Very good if you watch a lot of videos or play a lot of games otherwise just ok.
