The only thing I don't like about it, but it's not that big of a deal, is you have to tell the watch when you are going to sleep and when you are getting up.

Nobody really needs a smartwatch, but if wearables are something you want to dive into then you’ll be hard pressed to find a better watch than the Neo to do so. At a retail of $150 it’s $100 cheaper than it’s metal brother the Gear 2, and less than half the price of an entry level Applewatch. It may not have as many apps available as the Android Wear or Apple smartwatches have, but it still has a great interface and a better battery life than 90% of the aforementioned watches. I get roughly 2 days battery life from it (that’s a literal 48 hours, not 2 ‘work’ days) which puts it underneath the crazy 7 day battery of the Pebble watches, and more than twice the battery life of all other watches save a few like the Sony Smartwatch 3. It gives me the notifications I choose and helps keep my phone away from my face, and it’s pretty cool to be able to call and talk to someone directly from my watch when I need my hands free or if I’m driving (I believe the Applewatch is the only other smartwatch with a built-in speaker.) Although it may seem like a novelty, the IR blaster feature is great when I can’t find my remote or if it’s out of reach. Those 3 factors are the main reason I can deal without the app selection of an Android Wear watch, most of those apps are just remote apps for the apps on your phone anyways. Not a lot of standalone capabilities unless you get a separate plan with a watch like the Gear S (although you can store music and games on the Neo.) The Neo looks great with a different watch band too, the Gear 2 looks even moreso when paired with a metal band, and although there could be more there’s still a good selection of watch faces available. Anything but the stock watch faces drain battery way faster however, which makes the 2 day battery life of the Neo even more handy (non-stock watch faces tend to drain battery on most smartwatches.) With all those features the Neo is a steal at this price, I think the only other watch that can compete is the Moto 360 but I can't wear a watch that won't at least last a full 24 hours before charging. I've only had it a couple of months so time will tell of it's durability (it did survive two rainy weeks walking in Japan) and long-term usefulness, but I'm satisfied so far. I haven't used the Heart rate monitor, although it has gotten bad reviews since you basically have to remain perfectly still to try and get an accurate reading. But although it has that feature and an adequate pedometer, this is not the watch to get if you're looking for a fitness tracker. Instead, it combines the general health features of one, has the next best battery life to the Pebble watch, and makes up for it's lack of apps with a built-in speaker, IR blaster and clean interface. This is a great smartwatch to have if you have a compatible Samsung phone, and will definitely tide you over until the next generation or two of smartwatches come out.

Pros-it's just cool. Not a necessity by any means, but it IS cool, useful, and works well. Nice display, decent but not great battery life (I get two days max out of a charge), charges quickly though. I like that you can replace the band with any 'regular' watch band, as it's inevitable the band will need to be replaced. Cons-the charging 'block' does not have an integrated battery like the Gear S, which would be so much more convenient and give you more flexibility. Speaker not loud enough, makes using as a phone pretty useless, but if you're in a very quiet area, it's ok. You need to connect to a computer to put any pictures on the device...a pain even if you HAVE a computer, which I do not. Limited apps available, and most free ones are nothing to write home about. And finally, Samsung could give you a lousy screen protector, having blown $200.00 on this. It wouldn't kill them. Summary-personally, it's NOT a must-have...unless you're a tech junkie like me! I am overall very happy with this and will soon purchase the Gear S. This is a 'big boy toy' but so what! The pedometer works great, as does the sleep monitor, though the heart rate monitor is finicky but works well when it works. Hopefully they make a women's size as my wife would like one for the pedometer function. If you have $200.00 and want to see what time it is, you won't be disappointed.

I purchased this watch for my husband as a gift and he absolutely loves it. It was reasonably priced at $129.00, and was easy to sync to his Samsung note. He uses it to receive notices on apps such as eBay, Facebook, and Amazon. He receives calls, texts, and downloaded a watch face to customize the watch for date & time. He also loves the fit feature and is experimenting with the sleep monitor feature. It has been more convenient and useful than expected! The watch also remains charged for 3 days. It does not take pictures, but I knew that when I made the purchase. I am extremely satisfied with the purchase. Wish it was smaller... I would buy one for myself!

This will be a bit lengthy and boring if you are not into the whole geek thing. Overall I really like my Gear 2 Neo. I would say my favorite features would be the fact that the battery gets me 2 solid days if not rolling over to 3. Also the fact that this has an IR emitter is amazing. I set it up to double tap the button and a IR remote pops up that I can switch through and customize to my TV, tower fan, even my remote lights. The 2 things I absolutely hate about this but may not be a problem for others. The S-Voice feature (Similar to Siri or Google Now) is absolutely terrible. When she talks its irritating how choppy she sounds compared to Siri, Cortana and Google Now. When you do give a voice command, most of the time she will not get it correctly and you have to speak very very clearly unlike its competators. The second part that is a draw back for me was the fact that it is NOT Android Wear which would normally be a Java base if I'm remembering right. It runs on its own OS called "Tizen" which is a HTML and Javascript mix. This means there is no way to make Android Wear apps work on it. There are very few decent Tizen based apps for it compared to the current Android Wear market. But the amazing battery life and IR emitter made me keep this over other watches. Overall, great for day to day operation of Samsung phones. But if your a tech geek like me and don't mind charging a watch every day, something Android Wear could possibly be a better option.

While I knew the new Gear line was coming out in a couple of weeks, I prefer the square screen to the Gears' new round screen. The device tracks all of your activity, up to and including sleep. Notifications are good on the device (although if you're using the Textra app for SMS/MMS messaging be aware that you will receive "Delivery Receipt" notifications 3x for every person on the MMS to the watch, despite having this feature turned off). I wish it were a little easier to customize the apps you use most often, you end up having to to that in the Apps folder, which is unwieldy. Battery life is pretty good, am getting about 2.5 days on a single charge, although I'm less than thrilled with the charger for the unit (plate that snaps onto the back of the watch, powered by a micro-USB cord). Would have preferred to have a micro-USB right on the watch so I can charge it anywhere, versus realizing it's dying and can't do anything with it until I get home. I do like being able to answer the phone from the watch & speak thru the watch if I can't immediately grab my phone, but remember it is Bluetooth & not a standalone device for phone use. Additionally, remember that this is a Samsung device, and therefore only works with Samsung phones. It is not a generic, use-with-any-device watch. The black band with the brushed aluminum highlights on the clasp and face of the watch make it look good whether you're dressing casual or formal. It goes with everything. The cost rivals other wearable tech that has much smaller screens or turns the display sideways (Windows watch). This is a great device at a great price.

My wife loved it, shes addicted to it.. she even likes this design more so than the newer ones and thinks that its stylish. Feature wise.. she can text real good, talking on the phone she can hear me perfectly. She does facebook as well as her pedometer... she just overall loves it. Arrived as a beautifully wrapped gift i purchased that additionally. At the end of the night my summary up top is self explanatory!! I recommend for sure

I beat up my activity trackers and pretty much anything I have on my wrist. I decided to go with the Samsung - Gear 2 Neo, because of the rubberized bezel around the display. It's a very clean and simple watch design. It doesn't sit very high on the wrist and has a lower profile than most watch style trackers. The display can be customized to your liking. I have clock and pedometer on my main display, with a clean background. It looks sharp. You can also get a lot of "watch face" skins that look very professional & clean. The sleeping function is nice and it mutes your phone. I thought the email and notification alerts were kind of gimmicky. Now I'm addicted to this feature. I check my wrist for emails, texts and calls to see if I need to respond or can get back to my work, without the need to dig out my phone. (I have to limit activity somehow :-D ) Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase.

The watch works flawlessly with my Galaxy Alpha phone and I love that one of the watch faces also shows the next upcoming calendar entry. The pulse detection tends to run high when I'm exercising (compared to the exercise equipment's sensors), but is generally useful. I love the speakerphone feature! I never thought I'd use it, but it's very handy when my hands are full and my phone is in my pocket to just answer my watch. The one drawback I find is with the lack of good apps. Otherwise, I love this watch and wear it everyday.

This is coming from someone who has a Pebble, a Sony Smartwatch 2, and the Gear 1. I compare the Gear Neo to the Pebble there Out of those 3, the Gear 1 actually had the best build followed closely by the Smartwatch 2. The Pebble was the absolute worst because it looks and feels like a toy. However, I use the Pebble the most because it is the most convenient and works extremely well. That was until this Neo became the One (get it?). The Neo is the best smartwatch currently out. At it's price its only slightly more than a Pebble and it's far more useful. First off, the Neo is plastic so it's lightweight and comfortable. It's a lovely matte plastic and it looks clean and streamlined. The screen is beautiful and it took a page out of the Pebble by shutting off the screen until you flick your wrist. The watch detects the movement and the screen lights up. One thing that really bothered me about the Pebble was the display. I actually like the retro monochromatic screen but whenever I wore polarized sunglasses I couldn't read the screen. This means while I was driving, the Pebble essentially couldnt serve its purpose. The Sony SW2 was better, but the screen was hazy and no where near the level of the Gear 1 or Neo. I know people had concerns that Samsung moved over to Tizen instead of Android for the Gear 2 but it's actually a benefit. I'm not sure if android is suited for wearables (Moto 360 and the LG Watch may prove otherwise) but there was some lag on the Gear 1 that is no longer there. I particularly like being able to sync songs into the watch. When I work out or go for a run, I can have the watch and a bluetooth headset. No longer do I have to strap on my Note 3 to my arm. The fact that there's a heart rate monitor, pedometer, and music player all on the wrist is unbelievably convenient. The Neo represents the best buy out of the entire line of gen 2 Gear watches. This is the same price as the Gear Fit so I don't know why anyone would choose that unless they prefer the design. I dont think the Gear 2 is worth an extra $100 over the Neo. It has full stainless body but the camera is pretty pointless and the novelty wears off quickly (Happened on the first gen Gear). It's pretty amazing that the Neo can be priced at $199 and have so many features built in. I think it might need a software update to fix some minor hiccups and I'll revise my review when that happens. So far battery life has been great. For having a bright screen, this lasts me 2-3 days. It would get more but I have notifications sets for facebook, texts, email and google hang outs. I love that you can set specific apps that you want notifications from. For instance I get no Google+ notifications, but I get hangouts. The ability to filter what you receive is great. One suggestion I would say if you are using this to control music in your car is to set the "double tap" option to control music. When the screen times out, you have to scroll to get back into the music app to change songs because the watch automatically goes back to the homescreen. It's dangerous to swipe constantly just to change songs. By double pressing the center button, the app comes right up and I swipe to the song I want. Also, its easier to keep your eyes on the road when you push a physical button (one benefit of the pebble) rather than trying to find an icon out of 4 items on the screen. Heart rate monitor also works better when you turn the watch to the inside of your wrist.

It was a little hard to pair to my phone but one of the best buy people were right there to assist me with evertthing. I love the heart rate monitor right there at your disposal. For before, during, and after your workout. It even monitor your sleep. It will even give you notifications for missed calls or new messages. What a gaget. Thanks Samsung and Best Buy. Outstanding.

The Samsung Gear 2 neo is a great addition to a smart phone. Besides being a fitness tracker it offers all of the benefits of a smart phone. You can receive all of your messages on it as well as make and receive phone calls all without having to take out you phone. It is very easy to set up and operate as well. Though the apps are limited there really are not many that I would want to add though perhaps a GPS-Golf tracker would be nice to use out on the golf course. This is a great product which I am using with my Samsung Galaxy 3 smart phone. Only wish it could be used with other android phones as well.

Bought because the price is decent and I'm a tech guy. I don't really use it for most of the features that are packed in. Example: remote control for AC, TV. take phone calls / text messages. The pedometer, heart rate and sleep monitor are interesting and seem fairly accurate. All and all not bad....seems responsive and battery lasts almost a week. At very least it's a watch, so I don't have to take the big phone out of my pocket to look at the time. ha

The Gear 2 Neo isn't a bad watch for the price point, especially if one considers the added bonus of a built-in IR blaster; but you won't find any Wi-Fi capabilities or a compass. Personally, I don't mind the loss of Wi-Fi simply because it's rare that I'm ever far enough from my phone to disrupt the Bluetooth connection, and I never get tired of shutting off TV's in secret. At the time I purchased my Gear 2 Neo, I researched it heavily and opted for it based solely on the fact that it was on sale and that there was an active effort to port Android Wear to the watch to replace Samsung's resource intense Tizen. I have noted that there are several reports of the plastic retainers for the metal pin that attaches the watch band to the watch itself breaking under even light stress, and I can say that after having worn the Gear 2 Neo every day for the last couple of months and getting it snagged more than once during a quick movement, the kind that leave you wondering how it's still on your wrist that is, that I haven't even noticed any cracks developing yet so perhaps the flaw was corrected or maybe I'm just lucky. The conversion is easy to perform and as of this review pretty much all of the bugs have been ironed out, leaving a very stable end result that I am glad I chose to experience. All in all, it's a good place to start if you're just getting into smart watches and would like to experience the difference between Tizen and Android Wear prior to getting into the more expensive range of watches.

This was an upgrade from a Fitbit ChargeHr. The wife likes the excise feature as well as the notification and call functions the watch has. The size takes a bit of getting used to if you are coming from a small tracker type device, but the overall performance and battery time is very nice. The phone app is very easy to use to set up and control the watch, but there are some limitation that this watch vs. the more expensive counterparts.
