Product Great. Warranty Not
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this device at a different retailer in December 2014. In November 2015 it stopped charging, and we noticed that one of the charging terminals broke off. See picture. When we contacted Samsung they refused to warranty the item because according to their database it was over 1 year of manufactured and it would cost $149 for the repair or we needed to return the watch to the retailer. They of course would not accept it because of their own return policy. What was a great product has ended up being a waste of money.

Dead at 7 months - Samsung won't repair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is as much a review on Samsung's support as it is their Gear series of devices (my Gear 2 Neo was ok while it lasted - though the heart rate function never worked well#. Short of it though is this - after just 7 months, there are multiple things wrong with my watch, and they won't repair any of them under warranty unless I also pay them to fix the screen, which they are demanding $149 for even though it is clear there's no physical damage #the glass is delaminating from the LCD, but there's no chips, scratches, or cracks#. ~ 3 months: Bluetooth starts getting flaky. Have to periodically disconnect it and reconnect it from my phone or reboot it for it to find it again. ~ 5 months: The glass starts to delaminate from the LCD with no clear damage or cause - it isn't chipped, cracked, or scratched. It began in one corner and started working its way around the edges. ~ 7 months: The Bluetooth dies completely and will not turn back on. When I'd try to turn it back on in settings, it would pop up a "Processing" message, then turn back off. So I factory reset the watch back to original settings. After factory reset, the watch booted to an "Unknown error" screen and would boot no further. ~ 8 months: Watch stops charging, so now I can't even boot it back to the "Unknown error" screen to show anybody. Fortunately I took a picture first. ~ 10 months: Finally get around to opening a ticket with Samsung and send the watch in for warranty service. After they get it, I get an email telling me the repair price has changed from $0 to $149, with no explanation. When I call in #since their website wasn't working#, I'm told the "certified engineer" categorized the screen as physically damaged. In addition, they refuse to fix any of the other issues with the watch unless I also pay them to fix the screen. Samsung has just sold me on either Motorola or Apple #the latter of which I never envisioned as possible, but since I regularly hear of awesome experiences with Apple support...#. Way to go Samsung! ... As for the watch itself... Was functional, but clearly still a bit rough around the edges given wearable technology is still new. In particular, the heart rate monitoring function never worked well. It was finicky when I was sitting still, and absolutely untrustworthy if I was exercising. While going up stairs it told me my pulse was in the 50's #I am usually closer to 75 when I'm resting...#. Similar experiences with it other times as well. Original review follows ----------------------------------- Just received my Gear 2 Neo in Mocha Grey, and wanted to jot down a few of my thoughts while they're fresh in my mind #these have been updated several times since with additional findings and to make things a bit more concise#: Pro's ------ * Pairing it and connecting it to your Samsung phone is easy #just make sure to have the latest Gear Manager - especially w/ Note 3#. * Screen auto-lock feature is both convenient and secure #slide-to-unlock if your watch is near your phone - pattern unlock if it's not#. * Interface is easy to use. * Can make it turn on automatically when you lift your wrist #at the expense of battery life#. * Time and weather on one's wrist. * Find my phone feature rings your phone even if it is on vibrate. * Bluetooth range is excellent. * Voice memos make it easy to make yourself quick notes. * S Voice dialing works well, even with some background noise #don't expect to text with it if there's background noise though#. * Sleep tracker estimates how restful your sleep is by how much you move at night. * Fast and responsive - no stuttering or delays that I've observed. * Band is replaceable with regular watch bands. * Can store MP3's on the watch, and use it as an MP3 player when working out without having to bring your phone with. Con's ------ * The "S Health" app on my Note 3 doesn't want to sync with the Gear 2, but the "Fitness for Gear" app that works with the Gear 2 doesn't have support for weight and calorie tracking like "S Health" did #nor does it appear to support 3rd party ANT+ devices like "S Health"#. Stupid having to use both apps when they're both from Samsung. * The "Fitness for Gear" app also is a bit buggy. Sometimes I open it and have data and it will sync, and sometimes I open it and it shows "no data" and won't sync. Has a few other display bugs too #like sometimes the history comes up in a giant font where half the data is off-screen and inaccessible#. I assume this will be fixed soon #but if it doesn't get fixed I'm going to knock another star off#. * While the device is not as bulky as the original Galaxy Gear, it's certainly not small - especially if you have small wrists. * Even though the device itself is not small, if you have large wrists the included band may be a bit snug. * Heart rate is not taken periodically - only during exercise or on demand. * Charging requires a proprietary cradle. * It only works with Samsung phones, and long term I'm not sure how much 3rd party integration we'll see as a result. * Application selection in their app store is quite limited. * While the interface is easy to use, it is a bit bare bones in appearance. A Bit of Both -------------- * Battery life is mixed. With normal usage I get about two days. However, with heavier usage I get more like 36 hours. * The pedometer is nice, but it tends to pick up other motions as steps #such as petting my cats#. That said, if your gait is regular and you aren't doing other stuff w/ your hands, then it is seemingly accurate, so for exercise it is ok #just not as a daily total step counter - over the course of a day it seems to over-count by about 25% to 30%#. * Exercise tracker and pulse-based trainer is a good idea, but the pulse is inaccurate and finicky. For resting pulse I have to take it repeatedly while it tells me to be still and quiet. With exercise it obviously allows movement, but the accuracy is doubtful #told me I had a 58 pulse while taking a walk yesterday - I'm not in that type of shape#. If I can't figure out a way to improve this, it will move to the con's list. * Remote control feature is a neat idea, but it's inadequate for many setups #such as if you use a receiver or a Blu-ray player# - it only controls the TV and set-top box. It also lacks the complex navigation for the guide and DVR on the cable box. If you mostly watch TV though and don't use a receiver, then it might be a convenience for you. Would be better if they made it programmable. The Gear 2 Neo is functional, but still just a bit large, limited, and rough around the edges. At present #4/11/14#, this is likely the best smart watch available, but smart watch technology is still not quite fully mature - if you get one, consider yourself an early adopter. I can't give it 5 stars, but it is pretty consistent with what I was expecting, so I think the 4 stars are warranted. If they don't fix the "Fitness with Gear" bugs or I can't find a way to get a more reliable pulse out of it during exercise, then I may reduce my rating to 3 stars. Part of the reason I got the device was to have one device that did it all. Also, if you are thinking about buying one, be aware that Android Wear gear from Motorola and LG is supposed to come out this summer. I can't speak to feature set of those devices yet #nor their battery life#, but the pictures make them look a bit more polished than the Gear 2, and they will work with any Android phone with a new enough OS #rather than just Samsung's#, so they'll probably get better 3rd party app support as well. If you're determined to get a Gear 2 Neo or Gear 2 now though #which is not a bad thing - obviously I decided to get one myself#... The only significant difference that I'm aware of between the Gear 2 Neo and Gear 2 is that the Gear 2 has a camera while the Neo does not #I've heard others comment that the Gear 2 also has a stainless steel body while the Neo is plastic - I can confirm the latter, but haven't looked into the former#. However, unless you see yourself taking pictures from your wrist often #it doesn't face the right direction for video chat#, I'd recommend saving the $100 and getting the Gear 2 Neo #particularly when the technology is still in its infancy, since we're going to see much better devices come out over the next couple years#.

Affordable, Dependable Smart Watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this for my teenage son for Christmas. I wasn't wiling to pay the $300+ price tag for the latest and greatest model, but this one seemed to be a great option at a great price (on Black Friday). The only big feature it doesn't have is a camera, but my teen said he wouldn't have really used that part anyway. He loves this watch. The audio is pretty impressive when he talks to me using the watch, I can't even tell he is using it - sounds as good as standard phone quality. I highly recommend this!

A fitness band and watch for 200 dollars. Boom.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, since I have to explain this to everyone who asks me if the watch is worth it, I thought I would jot it down here. The Pros: It is a great watch that serves as both a normal watch (yes! It does indeed tell time!) as well as a fitness band. The heart rate monitor is not too good, but that was expected. The step counting and sleep monitor work very well, especially after the latest update that automatically starts Blocking mode when you go into Sleep mode (this feature makes it so the watch does not turn on with movement and blocks notifications from apps). Finally, the notifications are awesome. It has saved me from dragging my phone out of my hipster jeans on many occasions. The Cons: There are not a ton of apps, however I am not sure if I would do anything other than use it how I do. Mostly I feel like more games would be cool, and maybe Spotify control would be sweet. They are releasing a version of the watch soon with the android operating system. I would have waited for that one since more people write apps for Android than Tizen at the moment. Overall: I know too many people who have dropped 100 dollars on a fitness band, as well as large amounts of money on a watch. Why not get a device that does both and looks good too. Just sayin.

Awesome Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch works great! The battery life average is 2-3 days, then you must recharge it. However, the charge is quick. It is especially great, because you get notifications of incoming emails and messages, so you do not have to pull out your phone. It works off the blue-tooth of my Samsung Galaxy Note 5. I highly recommend this product!!!

I Love This Watch!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up this watch to pair with my Note 4. Getting the Gear Management Software was a pain and you have to get it direct from Samsung and not through the Play Store.. Ince I got that set up though I have had no issues configuring and using y watch. The App Pool is a bit light, but there are some decent ones, I have been using it primarily for health tracking, and it is keeping me focused on being more active. The Pedometer has proven really accurate on counting my steps, but it can be faked out with heavy arm movements. The voice recognition software is fantastic. I have written texts on the fly with hardly any corrections needed. I find myself using the notifications a great deal. It saves me from having to bring out the phone constantly. My only real complaint is that it is impossible to alter teh color or appearance of the icons on the screen. It would be nice to make them match the color of your clock font for example. For an older generation model I am very pleased with my watch. It lacks the new features of the next generation, but for the price I paid I still got my money's worth and a good opportunity to see if I would even like a Smart Watch.

Great smartwatch, OK on fitness
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very interested in both the Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit, so I decided to try out both. To sum it up, the only advantage the Gear Fit has over the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo is the fact that it looks awesome and unique. Every function you can do on the Gear Fit you can also do on the Gear 2 Neo, plus a bunch more. A lot of reviews you read online will say there are barely any apps available for the Neo, but those reviews are outdated. I've had the Neo for about a week now and every day I check the app store - new apps have been added constantly. Some pointless, but some cool like the CNN app and a ton of different watch interfaces. One of my favorite things about the Neo is the fact that I can snooze and turn off my phone alarm from it. GREAT for those mornings when I cannot find my phone next to my bed, I can just swipe the screen on my wrist. Call quality is surprisingly good, I get a lot of use out of it because my work vehicle does not have bluetooth, so with my hand on the steering wheel I can drive and still talk on the phone if needed. I've asked others if they can hear me OK and they said they assumed I was talking through the phone not the watch. Only downside, talking through the watch does drain the battery which leads me to the next part. Battery life is OK, I've had to charge every two days with a decent amount of use, but charging doesn't take long at all, I just put the watch on the charger every other day while getting ready for work, usually fully charged within an hour. That may bother some people but doesn't bother me. Watch is pretty comfortable, for a smartwatch I don't think its too bulky. Lots of people complain about the strap saying its too cheap, I think its good, but if you don't like it you can swap it out for any .22 watch strap. At the gym, for some reason the pedometer does not pick up a lot of steps when running/walking on treadmill...when walking regularly during the day, it seems the pedometer picks up too many steps! I am using a Galaxy S3, which does not have S Health. Instead you get "Fitness with Gear" which is TERRIBLE. They really need to make S Health available for other devices if they are going to market this as compatible with other devices besides the S4 and S5. Granted, Samsung has released a few updates to get rid of some bugs in the software, but "Fitness with Gear" still has a long way to go before its even use-able. Also, you'll see a lot of complaints about having to "START" the Pedometer every day. THIS IS FALSE. Yes, you do have to start the pedometer when you first turn the Gear 2 Neo on, but that is the only time you need to Start it! No need to turn it off at night, so I don't know why people are complaining about turning it on and off all the time. It resets at midnight automatically. If you are too lazy to push a start button ONCE when you first get a new gadget, then you will need a lot more than a fit tracker to get yourself in shape (and unfortunately for S3 owners, you'll need a lot more than the Gear 2 Neo or Gear Fit no matter how lazy you are). In a nutshell, this thing is great as a smartwatch. Getting the notifications and calls from my phone are flawless and more convenient than I imagined. The watch pretty much has no use as a health tracker for now especially if you're like me with an older Samsung phone, but that can easily be changed with some software updates.

Great for active life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent watch. Durable and tough enough to survive my workouts and classy enough to wear as a everyday watch. Only downfall is that I wish that you could put more apps onto it. Would like to be able to download Pandora or Beats because I don't have much of a music library anymore to load and utilize music apps primarily.

Great watch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to buy this watch for a long time, but I couldn't afford it. Months later, a newer model came out, the price went down, so it was a lot cheaper. It is easy to pair to your phone. It has alot of free homescreens and watch faces. The S voice is usually pretty good in understanding your speech. If you don't really use it to talk on, the battery lasts near to 3 days or more. Overall, I am very happy with the watch. I would give it 5 stars if the S voice worked a little better. If there is surrounding noise, it doesn't work that well, and when you turn the watch on and off, the volume defaults to a low volume, which is annoying.

Really good smartwatch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The watch has a really great screen and handles notifications well. I am able to see all of my notifications and reply to text and email. You can you use S voice or templates to reply. I am able to control music playing on my phone or put music on the watch itself. I rarely have to take my phone out of my pocket while wearing the watch. It works out great when you are working and cannot quickly access your phone. I use it when cutting grass and can see the notifications and decide whether I have to stop the lawnmower and use my phone or just reply on the watch. It's a real time saver. I'm not a watch person and I actually like wearing it. Battery life is really good for me, although I do turn off the watch at night, I get at least four or fives day on one charge. I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Fun Watch for the Basics
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun Watch for the basics, everything from reading text messages and replying with S Voice to answering or rejecting calls, this watch covers all the basics. The text messaging has been my favorite feature of this watch, texts are really easy to view and when responding you have the option of using Svoice or premade templates. I don’t really use the phone call abilities but it works well, I’m sure if I used a Bluetooth ear piece it would appeal to more to me. Other cool features are the heat rate monitor and the music capabilities of the watch which are really cool and work well. Overall it was a well made watch and if you are looking from something basic and not super expensive like what is out now this will do it for you.

Love it, but range of bluetooth limited.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Gear 2. It does exactly what the description is. It is easy to set up, took about 2 minutes while checking out, and very easy to mange the app on the phone. The Gear itself also is easy to work with and use. The only downside is the range of the bluetooth on my Galaxy S5 is limited, so the range of the connection is not great especially at work for some reason. But I love it nonetheless. I have used the music feature and downloaded music from my phone to the gear. The sound is pretty good without any headphones, used it to receive calls, used it of course to count my steps, and also used the sleep mode feature. I am pleased with all that. Just as a heads up, the exercise feature does not have zumba in it, it is limited to running, walking, hiking and cycling. I am petite and thought it would be too big for my hand, but it really is light weight and does not bother me. I would recommend it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it's very practical smartwatch. Good things about this phone: 1- make and receive calls by smartwatch itself and enables you to talk through your watch while you are away from your cellphone (in Bluetooth range). 2- Fitness apps on your hand all the time. 3- full control on your notifications 4- very user friendly interface 5- very loud speaker 6- 3 to 4 days battery life bad things: 1- limited apps 2- works just with Samsung cells (that I don't care) 3- not having "Google Now"

Husband loves it - slightly too small
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. The band is slightly too small so he had to widen the last hole for it to fit comfortably but he won't go anywhere without it on. He uses it for work all the time. Answers and makes calls, views and responds to texts, even plays games on it. He dosent miss the camera function at all in fact he says he dosent k ow what he would've used it for really.

Great for the price, but watch out!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a great watch for the price, although it comes with Tizen OS, which makes it Samsung compatible only, and I don't think it says so anywhere before you buy. Luckily, there are a lot of easy to do videos for installing Android Wear on it, which makes it compatible with pretty much everything. A bit laggy sometimes, and battery lasts two days tops, however I highly recommend it for this price range.

Great watch. Very pleased.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 Neo smart watch after much research online. I decided I did not want one with Android Wear, nor did I want the Gear S because of its size. It came down to this or a Pebble watch. I made the right decision! This watch pairs easily with my Galaxy Note 4 phone and allows me to check notifications, take or make phone calls, and more right from the watch without pulling out the phone. I didn't want something to replace the phone but work with the phone for convenience. That's exactly what I got. I can easily get 2-3 days out of a battery charge depending on how many times I use it for calls.

Pretty good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited to get the watch and try it out for a full day. I think after a day I was a little less excited about it, it's pretty limited as far as functions go. Since I'm a watch kind of guy, i don't wear it every day. The Battery seems to last a few days when I have all the power settings on. I use it mostly for hands free phone while driving, I use the sleep function, and the exercise function. one thing I really wish it had was an option for lifting weights.... but it doesn't. So I usually just set it to the walking setting whilest i lift. I'm pretty satisfied overall.

great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: works as advertised. Omits the need for additional fitness gadgets. This watch brings a functional fitness monitor, cell phone accessory, and watch all in one package. Cons: maybe it's me but there are times I have to flick the watch a few times for it to bring the home screen up. Normally bringing it to my face brings the screen up. The vibrate function is also hit or miss.

Great Smartwatch for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this watch on Black Friday ($129.99, can't beat the price!) and was happy with this Samsung version. This is my first smart watch, so I did not know what to expect. It receives calls, texts, and any notifications you wish to receive (I do team stream, and it's fantastic!). Only Reason I don't give it a 5 star-rating is due to the lack of fitness wearable apps. I understand that it is still a work in progress. Overall, it is great!
