The watch looks great I just wish it was an Android watch instead of Samsung's on brand. As with their TVs, they don't seem to understand how to make a good OS. They've made themselves too different.

Requires a Samsung S5 or better phone; the more power the better. Having more processing power and stronger Bluetooth on your phone communicates better with the Smart Watch especially when using Voice Commands. I purchased a separate expandable metal watch band making it quick and easy to take it off my wrist. Overall, I recommend this watch for the convenience of the notifications keeping you from having to always view your phone directly.

I love this watch. I use it everyday for weather, notifications, steps, ebay, and other stuff. It's great to see who's calling without having to take your phone out of your pocket, to see if you even want to answer it. Great in business meetings as to not disturb anybody. Some of the apps were twitchy but theyre getting better. One default is that on one specific road I drive, for some reason, it auto detects I'm cycling for 17 minutes. Weird but not a big deal. If you're looking for a smart watch, this is the one. Samsung is a great company that I trust.

Great watch, but held back by Tizen OS/Samsung

So, if I was only reviewing the watch itself and ignoring 3rd party apps, I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars, it's that great. The watch itself has a nice build, the band was so so but that can be swapped out. The dial around the watch face is truly a fantastic and easy to use way to navigate between apps on the watch, I'd almost say it's the best innovation so far when it comes to smartwatch interfaces. Unfortunately, this watch is ruined by Samsung's decision to use Tizen OS instead of Android wear. It's not that Tizen is bad or anything like that, but that the number of 3rd party apps that can interface with this watch are extremely limited. Wanna count your steps? You can do that using the Samsung software that's on the watch, sure. Wanna sync those steps to Myfitnesspal? Well then you're out of luck. There are only or two alternative apps that work with what's on the watch. That's just an example, but for the most part, it's the same story for most other big name 3rd party apps, there's just no support for this watch. If you're deeply integrated into Samsung's ecosystem of apps and devices, and you don't care about 3rd party app support, then this watch is great and I'd recommend it for sure. Unfortunately however, for everyone else it would be better to look for something else.

The S2 classic is a great device that allows me to do much more with my device. It looks great and the size is just right at 40 mm. No complaints with it

Getting this watch has helped me stay off my phone more as I can check majority of the notifications on my watch instead of my phone. This allows me to prioritize my emails as to what I can delete right away or what I decide to take care of on my phone later. Definitely a notification station and I love everything I can check on my watch including weather updates, messages, etc. Definitely happy with purchase. Thanks for letting me stay away/off my phone for longer! I can still stay connected without the need to constantly have my phone in hand.

The watch is fantastic. Of course GPS would make it perfect but I didn't want to add a phone line. The battery life is excellent 3 days of moderate use.

Bought as a gift for my son. He REALLY likes it. Easy to use and looks more like a regular watch than the large rectangular ones. Good quality too.

I tried the Gear S2 as an alternative to fitness trackers. I used the Basis Peak for a couple of years before they shut down the business and found that device to do all the things I wanted. Following the Peak I tried a Garmin Forerunner 235, which is really focused on running (I no longer run due to injuries and instead ride a bike). I found the Forerunner good, but a bit of overkill for my daily use consisting of heart rate tracking, step tracking, fitness cycling, and sleep tracking. What I learned is that a smartwatch really isn't meant to be a fitness tracker. It works, but its purpose is more oriented toward a smartphone peripheral device. It requires daily charging, does not continuously track heart rate (continuous means once every so often in Samsung land) and has a depth of capability far beyond its accessibility. Despite the ring-based navigation, you still need to tap and swipe, and that can get pretty difficult on such a tiny screen. The notifications it offers are really no better than one gets through Garmin or Fitbit. Integration with Samsung health is OK, but that app is not well developed. In the end, I went back to Garmin. I also changed from Galaxy to iPhone so there's no going back. And I have no interest in the Apple Watch after the "meh" experience with the S2. If anything I would go further minimalist with a wearable. There just isn't enough real estate to materially substitute for a smartphone, so less is more. In sum, while it's a novel device, its more decorative than useful. Not worth $260 and I returned mine (thanks to Best Buy for the 45 day returns for Elite members).

Really like having the capability to set the format for the time/date display from simple to more detailed. Pretty easy to link to the cell phone and especially easy to read emails as they arrive at the phone -- without having to find the phone! Charging the phone overnight gives more than a full day's worth of energy. Really great for tracking activities during the day to show if I've been too inactive. Heart rate monitoring is very continual and helpful. There are other capabilities that I haven't explored yet.
