Customers often highlight the Gear S2 Smartwatch's user-friendly interface, stylish design, and ability to make phone calls. They appreciate the convenience it offers and the notifications it provides. However, the limited battery life and the lack of available apps are common complaints.

Honestly, I shouldn't have gotten this watch, but I was so excited to get an upgrade that I didn't do my proper research. I had the Gear 2 before and I loved that watch, so I figured it would be just as great. Gear S2 is more focused on exercise (kinda like a FitBit on steroids) so it reminds you to get moving. I don't use any of the extra exercise features, I only use it for notifications of calls and texts while I'm at work.
I miss the camera feature the Gear 2 offered and the simplicity of Gear 2. Gear S2 is still user friendly, but the screen is smaller and I have no camera function. I like that I can leave my phone and still be able to receive calls and texts. But for the extra $10 on my phone bill and getting a two year contract, it's just not worth it to me anymore (It's too late for me now, I'm stuck with it!) It would be nice to have other apps other than limited Samsung apps (which are still great btw), but I would like to have my Spotify on my watch.
It's a watch, so obviously the speaker is not as big as with a phone speaker. The speaker is a little low for my liking (my other watch was louder) and the mic goes in/out and they can't hear me as good either (not sure if that's just a problem with my specific watch)
As with any electronic, battery life is according to how you use it, I charge mine every other day, the same as with my other watch.
It's a glorified watch that was overpriced and I was lucky enough to get for the cheap, but now I'm stuck with an extra charge on my phone bill that I didn't need. I would recommend getting the regular Bluetooth S2, and not the one with your phone company because at the end of the day, it does the exact same thing minus the call forwarding when you leave your phone at home.

AT&T number sync works great. Calls are Crystal clear. Love not having to carry my phone around and still not miss a call. I purchased this watch on a whim and I am surprised by how much I enjoy it. My biggest compliant is the text to speech is not that good. It can only understand about half of what I say which is why I only gave it 4 stars. I am hoping that an update somewhere along the way fixes that.

I grew up on Dick Tracy, Get Smart, Inspector Gadget, Power Rangers, and various other talking watch communicators so I've wanted a smart watch since before they were ever a thing. The Gear S2 is both a dream come true and a bit of a disappointment. My cons are that the battery life is very limited (tends to last about 40 hours on medium usage), it has relatively limited functionality in the small number of apps available for it, and it's limited in the types of phones it can work with (even certain brand new Samsung phones - such as the J3 which meets the minimum requirements - don't work with it, which I found out the hard way...) and I can't change my ringtones and notifications (though I've read that's more the fault of my carrier than the watch). My pros are... pretty much everything else. I love the way it looks. The phone functions work perfectly fine. I love having my emails and text messages pop up on my watch so I don't have to keep checking my phone. The S Health app works great. Some smart watches have better battery or more functionality, but I don't regret my decision to get this one at all. It's still early days for smartwatches, most likely they'll keep getting better and better, and for the present this is a great watch.

I like to watch. I like the look of it in the feel of it in the screen is really easy to read. It's nice to be able to get a discreet view or a quick view of your notifications while at work or on the road. I do wish it had more apps though

Love the watch. I have an average size wrist (female) and the watch fits comfortably. On the boyfriend watch size, but not overwhelming. Notifications are easy to read. Calls come through clear and those on the other end of the line are able to hear me with no issue. My only complaint is the voice feature. Hardly ever works. Would be nice to have a working voice to text option when texting since screen is small. Even with this small annoyance, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again!

This is a great buy from Bestbuy.com. The only problem is there are not enough apps yet to download however, it's better than the non-4G version or Moto 360 2 Android wear which I returned because it has a speaker. Battery surprisingly lasts for more than a day of normal use which makes it better than the iWatch. The bezel is a great plus. I bought the sim over the non-sim version because of the bigger battery and stand alone capability to make calls without a phone. I'm able to make unlimited calls and text for $10/month from AT&T. Bestbuy.com offers three options to pay..and I chose to pay full vs the $99 with contract. AT&T then transferred the existing iPad's data plan that I have to the watch so I didn't have to add another line and pay additional $10/month.

Strap Breaks, but Great Watch Unit
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Straps on both sides separated from their metal units that fastens the straps to the watch body. One side fell off on an office floor as I reached for papers, other onto my lap during a restaurant breakfast. (Fortunately not down a street drain while I was walking down a sidewalk.) Warranty does not cover the band. Best Buy doesn't carry the bands, Samsung said I could sent in the entire product (box, et al) and they'd review it. I didn't send it. So...I'll buy more bands, I like the watch, (duct tape them on??)

I've not worn a watch for years now but this one doesn't even feel like it is there. Got it because I wanted to see some notification without the need to dig my phone out and for that it is pretty good. Have ATT so they have the numbers connect thing which is like most things with ATT, it works most of the time but you find you have to reboot watch about once a week or so to get it to work right. If you are depending on it for a stand alone with the numbersync you need to be careful

I didn't set out to buy a smartwatch but there was a promotional for opening a new line (I was converting my house phone int o a cell for my husband), to get this smartwatch free! That said, it has a lot of really neat features from being able to receive and respond to texts (they are pre-made messages but you can add your own), receive phone calls if you've set up that features (I have not), count your steps, check your heart rate, see the weather, etc. If you can't have your cell phone with you for some reason, this watch will do nicely!

I was disappointed to find out that the sales person let me walk out of the store without properly "activating" the device on my AT&T account. It created a problem for me because Best Buy does not handle business accounts so I ended up having to return it. For the short time I had with it, I was very impressed and I still am although I had to repurchase the watch at an AT&T store. It works great and as a standalone device, not needing to be near a phone in order to make and receive calls, it is awesome.

I got this watch when I updated my phone to replace my fitbit. The step counter is close to accurate and there is alot of interaction. The only problem I had with the watch was battery life, but just like a cell phone, if you shut off the blue tooth and wifi it lasts all day.

The most useful things to me have been being able to check texts or refuse calls without having to pull out my phone. You can even reply using a pre-canned list you can modify. Also, it does basic health stuff like counting step, heart rate, etc. Also cool is the watch can find the phone and the phone can find the watch. Battery lasts 2-3 days depending on usage. The Samsung app that controls it (Gear) is pretty intuitive, with basic controls.
Don't forget though that it's an activation on your cellular network like any other decide if you want to text or take calls with it. For AT&T that's $45!

The watch is good, although a lot of money for a watch. My major disappointment is the watch strap is not easy to put on. The watch strap I almost purchased is for the S2 Classic, It appears the people at Samsung fell asleep not considering the replacement strap.

This is my first time having a smartwatch that I can connect to my AT&T account. So far I really like it but I noticed it doesn't hold battery as long as some reviews I've read. I have my data connection turned off while I have my phone nearby and I also have my screen turned off when notifications come through unless I lift up my wrist to check it. On a full charge after 9 hours it may be on 65% so I just turn it off when I get home.

I got this free as promotion when I upgraded my phone. I read some reviews and articles on this smart watch when I knew there was this promotion. After using more than a month, here is pros/cons:
Pros:
- Cannot miss any call / text / most notification while I put my phone in silent mode in the office
- Change clock face to whatever I want, so like I can change my watch everyday
Cons:
- NumberSync by ATT requires $10/month: Actually all phone calls/texts are linked to this watch. Then why a new phone number is assigned to this as standalone? I can place a call with this smart watch only since it has its own phone number. But who wants to talk to watch on his/her wrist? And while NumberSync-ed to my main phone, calling to its own number cannot reach.
- 2-year agreement on this plan. I wonder if I can cancel this plan and if I can simply use it as bluetooth linked smart watch and get all texts/notification
- Not many useful apps on smart watch (I think it is common to the most smart watch, what else you can do with small screen??). In that sense, the base price of $250 is too expensive.
- Many good reviews on step count / heart beat measure. If I am not a exercise person, who cares it measures the heart beat and reports daily? Are you??
Summary:
Useful as the watch and call/text/notification forwarding device, but that's all I need/expect from this. Will not pay $250 for this simple purpose if I buy this separately.

I got this watch free with a 2-year contract when I purchased 2 S7 Edge phones for myself and my wife. This is my first Smartwatch and so far I'm loving it. It has a great screen and the rotating bezel around the screen makes it super easy to find what you need fast. The app selection is pretty good considering that this watch runs the Samsung Tizen operating system and not Android wear. I absolutely love getting my Twitter updates sent right to my watch and I can send them to my phone with just one touch to view them on my phone if needed. There's quite a few watch faces available and many of then are free which is great. I've only used my watch as a phone once but it worked great and the person on the other end heard me very clearly. I love how when I get too far from my phone that my phone calls get automatically forwarded to my watch. No need to worry about being near your phone at all times anymore! As soon as your back within range, my S7 Edge reconnects to my S2 and turns off call forwarding automatically. Now that's a smart watch! I still have a lot to discover after only owning an S2 for a few weeks but so far it's really awesome and the battery life gets me through a day of normal usage with 50% or more remaining when I get home from work each day. I highly recommend this watch to anyone looking to buy a smart watch!

I went in to buy a fitness watch, and bought the Gear S2. I really like the fact that I don't have to carry my phone in my pocket when I am busy working. Like everything about it. Would give it five stars if it would have a sleep tracker like my Jawbone UP3. That would make it nearly perfect!!
