Great for the GOOGLE aficionado
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The machine boots up incredibly fast and is secure in protecting the user's information. Since Google pushes the updates to the Chrome OS, the operating system is always current without requiring any user intervention. What a novel idea! If you want to watch Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, surf the internet, create documents, read eBooks or just use Gmail, this machine is ideal. It travels easily due to its lightweight and size. The battery life is exceptional lasting over 6 hours. For most people who use a computer to access the internet, this machine will do the job quite well. Using Google's suite of web services: Gmail, Google Plus, Picasa/Google Plus Photos and Hangouts, most needs are met. Google Documents handles word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Google documents can use Microsoft Office documents upon converting them. Communication with Hangouts works flawlessly offering video conferencing with the built in microphone, speakers, and webcam. The keyboard is decent, but different as all the letters are in lowercase and there is no delete key (no big deal). The track pad operates exceptionally well for me. The screen is clear, the colors are rich, and after adjusting it for the correct viewing angle and brightness, it displays everything just fine. Considering the low cost, this machine is great for students, travelers, and anyone that predominantly use their computer to access the web. If you are new to computers and a little intimidated by them, this machine is a pleasure to use without having to deal with all the settings and security hassles. For what it is, I highly recommend the Chromebook. Just don't expect it to be another Windows laptop...

A terrible buy please don't buy this device!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If Geek Squad says that this product was 100 percent inspected and good to work for the user. Please back it up because the fact that it did not work was really frustrating for me the user. Back up what you say on a refurbished product please!!!

Know what you are buying
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anyone interested in a chromebook must first understand what they are getting; a machine that requires an internet connection to do anything. Yeah, there's an offline mode; but it's pretty useless. If you know this going in and understand what it means then I'll think you'll be very happy with the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook. For browsing the web this thing performs as well as a 3rd gen core i3 laptop with 4gb of ram. What's better is the fact that it wakes from sleep immediately and it only takes about 2-3 seconds for it to re-establish it's wifi connection. This is faster than my high-end Series 9 laptop. And then there's the killer battery life of around 8-10hrs which is more like a tablet than a laptop; not shocking, as it is ARM based. For a family, the fact that it can have as many login accounts as you want is a huge bonus over an iPad. Obviously, a chromebook is really only good as a supplemental machine much like tablets. Most everyone will still need a real computer; but as a secondary machine for internet browsing it is fantastic. The laptop form factor is still greatly superior to that of a tablet for couch browsing due to the fact that it sits up in your lap without you having to hold it. And then there's the advantage of having a keyboard when you want to actually type something (even something as short as a web address); there's no way in hell I would have typed this review on a touchscreen keyboard.

Exceeds Expectations - More than a "Browser"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Samsung Chromebook is a great device that has ended up replacing my Dell Precision Core i7 laptop with 16GB RAM and touchscreen. The point being that the Chrome experience of longer battery life (6+ of actual usage), lighter frame and instant boot/resume make the device many times over more accessible. For myself I simply RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) into any windows computer at work or at home when needed, which is turning out to be less and less. Google Apps has done a good enough job replacing my needs for MS Office and the added bonuses of working in the cloud and syncing across devices is HUGE! I didn't consider myself a primarily "cloud" person before purchasing this device, however, I've come to realize just how much of what I do is already accessible via the web and the plethora tools that are being released every day. I often have many tabs open at once and regularly stream HD movies, and edit many documents at once. All this said, this device is a paradigm shift for many. If you're purchasing this device fully expecting to install Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Suite, you'll be disappointed. The point of this device is much larger than that. (I do use Adobe Creative Suite via RDP all the time on the device). You'll be surprised just how much can be done on this "browser" device that matures each and every day. Despite contrary belief you can do all the following offline: Edit documents, parse through your email drafting responses, organizing and tagging, write notes, and review your calendar.

Good bang for the Buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was way excited to get the chrome book after looking through multiple reviews online but ultimately took it back. Here are my thoughts. Good: I noticed right out of the gate that the battery life was really good especially for saying I would stream the occasional netflix video. The body profile was slim with rounded edges that felt good in the hand even if it is plastic. I loved how quick it booted and how easy it was to factory reset the whole device. Bad: Cheap feel to the over all construction of the device. The display was horrible unless viewing straight on and when standing above it you couldn't tilt it back far enough to really see the content. Ultimately what made me take back the device was when the track pad started to get stuck in the downward motion of a click. It seemed to act up more and more the closer I clicked to the center of the pad on the bottom edge. Reading online they suggest unscrewing the bottom screw below the pad just a bit but I felt that partially disassembling a computer is the wrong fix and is a sign of worse things to come. GeekSquad Referb thoughts: I was shocked to see that it didn't come in any sort of retail packaging and was saran-wrapped into a very large box with a small divider to separate the laptop from the power cord. Overall the unit was very clean and ready for resale. My only complaint would be if GeekSquad resold this laptop after the previous customer complained of a sticking trackpad with out fully fixing it.

I love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the chromebook after seeing it in the store. I have all apple products and wanted this to introduce myself to the android market to see if I would love to make a switch in the future. Well, I have to admit it is fun and I do love all the free apps you can get, I wouldn't get rid of my apple products either. That is not to say this is not a great machine. I love the smallness of it and how light it is. I can carry it around in one hand without killing my arm. I use it mostly to surf the net, answer emails, listen to Pandora while working, watch Netflix and Hulu, and work on my spanish. It is awesome for that and the battery life is super long like 8-10 hours. I love that it is also customizable. Will this replace your laptop, no but for a second device that is a good price and can do most of what I want, I have to say I love it!

Great Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I often work with Google Docs, and this is a great device if you are familiar with everything Google has to offer.. I'm always on the go, so it's nice to be able to take something with me that is ultra portable. I recently took this device to Europe, and it was perfect! This is not a laptop for whoever is looking for your traditional programs- like Windows. There are certain keys missing, but it's not a huge deal because there are short keys for the ones that are missing. Overall, the Chromebook has exceeded my expectations. -long battery life -quick start up (within seconds) -easy to use -great apps -Google!!!

As advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It boots almost immediately, gets right on the web, and is easy to use. If you're not a tech person and just want something for browsing, emails, and things like that - this is probably a great choice for you.

Excellent Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this knowing the limitations of a Chromebook and i am not disappointed. Could not tell it was refurbished, works great. As advertised. Using it to replace an old Think pad. Portability and simplicity are great. No need to worry about virus software or updates, won't slow down over time. Google docs replaces MS Office, Hangouts instead of Skype and full flash in browser unlike and iPad. Would recommend to anyone tired of dealing with a windows computer.

Super 2nd computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am loving this, have wanted to try Chrome operating system and this was a perfect price and the size is just right. I lay in bed and play games, take it with me on trips and my only complaint is how hard you have to press on touch pad. The sound is better than I was expecting, not great, but passable.

Phenomenal laptop for a great price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a netbook to the Samsung Chromebook, and it's so much better! Boots up in seconds, lightweight, portable, so easy to use, and has a great screen display and size. Can't even tell it's refurbished, and you certainly cannot beat the price anywhere! On top of that, I received it less than 3 days after I ordered it online, which was sooner than I expected. As long as you're okay with Chrome OS, this is the best. SO happy I bought this!!!!!

Its OK but a waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just purchased this about a week ago and the battery would not charge from the get go. It stays at 1% battery the whole time and if I want to use it has to remain plugged in. Everything else is fine but the battery issue is disheartening and really ticks me off! You'd think with it being refurbished they would have made sure the stupid battery worked and charged.
